Pakej Rangsangan Ekonomi RM 60 Bilion Sebenarnya Indah Khabar Dari Rupa

Penang Still Seeking Approval For A LCCT, Asks Private Sector To Apply For A MRO

Penang welcomes the announcement made by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak yesterday in Parliament of a RM 250 million expansion project for the Penang International Airport, which is a culmination of many months work by both the Federal and state government. However despite the refusal to approve a LCCT for Penang, the state government will continue to press for a new LCCT, which will be needed if Penang is to succeed in transforming itself into an international city that is a destination of choice for tourists, a location of choice for investors and habitat of choice for those who desire sustainable living.

Penang has no natural resources to fight the coming economic crisis. We have no choice but to leverage on our human resources and our geographical position as a logistics hub and international gateway for tourists, high-tech manufacturing, biotechnology, green technology and halal hub. To succeed Penang must have a functional airport with all the modern facilities and amenities. We are not only talking about basic comfort such as toilets but also about modern necessities such as free Wifi.

Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin Can Prove His Reformist Credentials By Urgently Restructuring The National Gas Policy

Minister of International Trade and Industry Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin can prove his reformist credentials by urgently restructuring the national gas subsidy and supply policy that has cost Malaysians to pay RM 62.6 billion gas subsidies to the power sector since 1997 and losses of up to RM 14 billion in foreign investments. Tan Sri Muhyiddin had admitted that 8 companies from Japan, US and Europe in energy intensive industries such as steel and manufacture of glass are holding back up to RM 8 billion investments because of lack of secure supply of gas from Petronas.

However Tan Sri Muhyiddin did not include the RM 6 billion in foreign investment lost by Penang from solar-related investors from America and Germany due to the gas shortage. Despite Tan Sri Muhyiddin correctly tracing the lack of gas supply to Petronas committing all its gas production till 2014, nothing has been done to resolve this gas shortage.

There is an urgent need to redirect supply, especially from the independent power producers (IPPs), to manufacturing and domestic use. Despite Petronas having spent RM 11.5 billion to build the Peninsular Gas Utility System (PGU System) pipeline to supply gas throughout the country, it is a terrible waste of money to install the gas pipeline if there is no gas flowing through the PGU pipeline.

Hope For Change That The People Can See, The People Can Touch and The People Can Feel

In saying our long goodbye to the Year of the Rat, we are inspired by momentous local and international events.People everywhere wanted to be inspired by democracy that empowered ordinary citizens and not corrupted by the rich elite. Malaysia was transformed by the political tsunami of March 8 when voters denied BN its two-thirds majority and gave Pakatan Rakyat 5 state governments. America transformed the world by electing a black man as President teaching the world that the content of character is more important than the colour of our skin. These political tsunamis were followed by the economic tsunami of a global economic recession.

As we usher in the year of the Bull, let us give ourselves to the hope of change. That we can begin the transformation of of Penang into an international city and the government into a people-centric, CAT(Competent, Accountable and Transparent) and ethical administration that is pro-growth, pro-jobs and pro-poor. The Year of the Bull brings many economic uncertainties. But as long as we believe in our own and each other abilities we can overcome these economic challenges. Like the strength, dynamism and dedication of the bull, never underestimate the energy, expertise and entrepreneurship of the people of Penang. Let us grow together, learn together face obstacles together so that we can enjoy the fruits together.

BN and Selangor Police Should Stop Practicing Vindictive and Vengeance Politics

DAP urges BN and the police the heed the voice of the voters in the Kuala Terengganu by-election on 17 January 2009 that threw out the UMNO candidate who was a Deputy Home Affairs Minister, in favour of the Pakatan Rakyat candidate PAS Mohamed Abdul Wahid Endut. The voters were unmoved by BN’s money politics of pouring in tens of millions of ringgit to try to distract attention from BN’s abuses of power, corruption and violation of human rights and failure to address poverty. Instead the voters chose PR’s version of a democratic, people-centric government with ethical leadership based on the principles of freedom, justice, truth, welfare and moral values.

[email protected] is no longer a dream

Speech by YAB Mr Lim Guan Eng at [email protected] Free WiFi Test-Drive with RedTone-Hotgate:

[email protected] has arrived! Two days ago, we had a successful test-drive of WiMAX by Packet One Networks (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd. We invited members of the Press to personally experience the fast-speed wireless broadband on WiMAX. I could see the sparkles on the eyes of many journalists, they were amazed at the speed YouTube videos were being downloaded through WiMAX – no more slow buffering, no more broken audios. Speed was the name of the game.

Of course to get WiMAX speed, there is a cost to it and the service provider has promised to keep the price affordable for everyone but many times faster than your regular home Internet.

The Penang State Government condemns Israeli aggression on Palestinians

The Penang State Government condemns the barbaric bombing and attack of UN compounds, offices and destruction of food and medical relief supplies by the Israeli government. Such naked aggression has highlighted the nature of the Israeli’s army as no different from the very terrorists they condemn.

The Penang State Government wishes to reaffirm our state’s policy of maintaining our investor friendly policies and sound relationship with all the Multinational Companies (MNCs) in the state, especially those from USA. We value such investments which have benefited both parties in the form of profits and employment opportunities.

The recent presence of the Penang Chief Minister of Penang at the demonstration at Kapitan Keling Mosque is to reaffirm the state government’s stand against the Israeli aggression on the Palestinian in Gaza. Also, the state government hopes that the American government will not continue to give blind support to the Israeli Government to oppress the Palestinians and will use its influence to get Israel to comply the UN Security Council resolution of a immediate ceasefire and withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza.
