The statement by Tan Sri Adam Kadir, the President of the Organisation of Former Umno Elected Representatives (Penawar) urging UMNO to continue its co-operation with Perkasa and all Malay NGOs that champion Malay and Bumiputera rights as enshrined Federal constitution reinforces UMNO’s role of backing the racist Perkasa. 1Malaysia and BN’s consensus spirit are irrelevant as long as UMNO and BN fully support the racist Perkasa.
How can Perkasa claim not to be racist and only fighting to uphold Article 153 of the Federal Constitution when they support racist statements that Chinese should go back to China and their women sell their bodies whereas Indians are beggars and dogs. I have checked and rechecked through Article 153 of the Federal Constitution and there is nothing stated in Article 153 that gives any one special rights to describe Chinese whose women sell their bodies and should go back to China, Indians as beggars or are dogs.

DAP is not surprised at UMNO Secretary-General Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor’s reversal of his previous stand against Perkasa by denying that he had said his Barisan Nasional (BN) colleagues agreed to keep the ruling coalition from Perkasa. After all Tengku Adnan had no choice but to support Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s statement yesterday that Umno did not want to stir conflict with any non-governmental organisation (NGO) such as Perkasa.
This only proves UMNO has all along being behind Perkasa. UMNO’s submission to Perkasa and Utusan Malaysia open support shows the strength of the Perkasa mentality within BN and that 1Malaysia is an empty slogan to win votes. What is surprising however is that this support and the Perkasa mentality is prevalent even amongst all component parties of BN as explained by Tengku Adnan in the Malaysian Insider on Perkasa,

DAP strongly condemns a plan by a Christian pastor in the United States to burn copies of Al-Quran to mark the terrorist attack by Al-Qaeda on September 11, that wiped out the famed Twin Towers of New York. Such acts will only breed more hate and violence among people of different faiths.
DAP is against any form of hate crime, racism and extreme religious act whether it is committed locally or internationally. We stand for dialogues, consultation and debates rather than violence and extremism.
We call on all Malaysians regardless of race and religion to condemn this dangerous and moronic act of desecrating copies of the holy book of Quran. The American authorities must prevent this proposed burning of the Quran from happening so as not to inflame sentiments amongst Muslims especially when they are celebrating the holy Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

The Education Ministry’s latest circular to warn school principals and teachers against making racist remarks is irrelevant as it fails to address the real problems. Blaming the principals and teachers is merely an act of finding a scapegoat.
In the news today, the Education Ministry’s Director-General Tan Sri Alimuddin Mohd Dom was reported to have issued a circular dated August 26, 2010 that warned action would be taken against those who made racist remarks.
By issuing the circular, it shows that something is seriously wrong with our education system. The principals, teachers and other school staff should already know a long time ago, even on the first day on their job that uttering racist remarks is wrong, illegal and against the basic principles of their vocation. It is such a shameful situation where teachers have to be reminded that racism is both wrong and bad. What will the students think?

The Penang state government will hold a free Siti Nurhaliza concert in conjunction with Malaysia Day celebrations. Dato Siti Nurhaliza will perform at the Stadium Bandaraya Pulau Pinang on the night of 25th September 2010. This concert entitled “Menyambut Hari Malaysia Bersama Dato’ Siti Nurhaliza” will be funded by the Penang state government and private sponsors.
Since this year is the first year that Malaysians are celebrating the formation of Malaysia including Sabah and Sarawak as a national holiday, the Penang state government want to give this important occasion a memorable and happy one. With top Malaysian and international performer Dato Siti Nurhaliza, it will not only be an unforgettable occasion but also reminds all Penangites, Sabahans, Sarawakians and Malaysians that we are all tied together in one family and one destiny.
Malaysians must continue to be united in pursuing the aspirations of truth, justice, freedom, welfare for the people and faith in the moral values of God that led to the formation of Malaysia. We must never surrender to the forces of extremism, bigotry and racism that seeks to divide us and deny us equal opportunities to realise our full potential.

DAP is appalled with Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission’s (MCMC) decision to prosecute a blogger for a satirical blog post.
The government’s action to charge Irwan Abdul Rahman, known as blogger “Hassan Skodeng”, in court for his satirical writing is not only harsh but ridiculous. Does this mean a satire or a joke is now illegal in Malaysia? What has become of our country?
Have we forgotten about our great satirist Ishak Haji Muhammad, better known as Pak Sako, whose great works such as “Putera Gunung Tahan” and “Anak Mat Lela Gila” had managed to rile up the spirit of nationalism among the Malays and Malayans against the British colonial masters during the fight for Independence?
