Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 26.9.2014.
By publicly defending The 1948 Sedition Act as necessary to preserve peace and harmony in a multiracial society, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Paul Low is worse than his non-politician colleague Datuk Seri Idris Jala, who spoke out against Sedition Act publicly but did not dare to raise his opposition inside Cabinet meetings. By defending the Sedition Act as necessary by reason that there must be a line between exercising free and responsible speech, and causing chaos in society as well as denying that BN was trying to instil fear or prevent the people from being critical of the establishment, Paul Low has changed from a civil society activist to be one who is no different from an UMNO or BN politician.
How can Paul Low be so blind, unfeeling and irresponsible as not to see that the Sedition Act is used as a political weapon of mass destruction against those opposing BN whom BN wants to eliminate? The double-standards and selective persecution by the Attorney-General has extended not just to PR leaders and elected representatives, but also to non-politician academics and law professors of top law schools in the country, that was widely condemned by all global human rights organisations.

Settlement statement by DAP and ROS in the DAP legal suit against ROS on the legality of the DAP CEC on 23 September 2014:-
There are three parts of concern in the letter of the ROS to DAP Secretary General Lim Guan Eng dated 6.12.2013.
The first relates to a request for documents under s14 of the Societies Act 1966. There is no problem with this request. The DAP has complied with it and will continue to assist the ROS in any queries it has relating to the affairs of the DAP.
The second relates to a statement made by the ROS in the said letter to the effect that the ROS is yet unable to recognize the re-election of the CEC of the DAP on 29.9.2013 and;
The third relates to advice given to Lim Guan Eng that the new CEC which “belum disahkan” cannot make decisions for and on behalf of the DAP until further notice from the ROS.
The ROS now takes the position that those statements do not amount to any decision in law. As such, those orders are not legally binding and remain merely advice to the DAP and the ROS recognises that the DAP CEC elected on 29.9.2013 may carry out all its powers, functions and duties in the administration of the daily affairs of the DAP in accordance with the Constitution of the DAP.

Speech By Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng During The “Penang-Phuket and Thailand-Malaysia trade, investment, tourism, economic and development co-operation Business Dialogue” in Hotel Metropole, Phuket Released On 19.9.2014.
September 18, 2014 marks the culmination of a 100-year engagement between Penang and Phuket where both cities are now “married” through friendship city status signed between the President of Penang Municipal Council(MPPP) Dato Patahiyah binti Ismail and Phuket Mayor Mrs Somjai Suwansupana. I wish to thank Penang State EXCO member Chow Kon Yeow, Phuket Governor Mr Maitri Inthusut, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia Mr Krit Kraichitti and Consul-General of Thailand to Penang Mrs Srirat Vathesatogkit for making the signing of the MOU of Friendship City status possible.
Though it took 10 years to renew our friendship, it is better late than never. Has it not been said that whilst it would take 10 years to plant a tree, it would take 100 years to teach a man.

2014 Malaysia Day Message By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 15.9.2014.
A People-Centric Government Based Not Only On Power And Interests But Also On Morals(Of Right And Wrong) As Well As Values(Of Justice And Freedom).
Following the shocking flip-flop by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak who has back-tracked on his thrice-promised repeal of the Sedition Act followed by the Attorney-General using the Sedition Act to selectively prosecute not only PR leaders but even a law professor, many Sabahans and Sarawakians no longer believe in the BN 2013 general election promises. BN had promised to improve infrastructure development on par with that of Peninsular Malaysia, ensure public security, poverty-eradication and health programmes as well as the aboliton of cabotage policy so that all Malaysians can enjoy one price for one similar product.

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 13.9.2014.
By reneging on his thrice promised repeal of the Sedition Act, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has proven that he is both a hostage to extremists and a leader who cannot keep his word but also spell the end of 1Malaysia and Coalition of Moderates. Najib’s statement yesterday backtracking from his earlier firm commitments to repeal the Sedition Act first made in 2012 is a dismal gift on the eve of celebrating our 51st Malaysia Day annivesary.
Najib had first made this pledge two years ago in a speech at a dinner for the Attorney-General’s Chambers, repeated it last year in an interview with BBC World News programme on July 2, 2013 and repeated it again on September 6, 2014. Clearly this flip flop by Najib shows that he can not stand up to extremists who want an elected dictatorship with authoritarian powers to violate basic human rights.
