Good Evening and Salam Sejahtera,

I am pleased to be here this evening to officiate this forum jointly organised by the Penang Institute and the Centre to Combat Corruption and Cronyism (C4) entitled, “Government Audit: Formality or Accountability?”

Although this is the Penang Institute’s maiden event on the annual Auditor-General’s Report, it is a wholly familiar issue with the Malaysian public. The Penang state government firmly believes that the public deserves a clean, effective and transparent governance, this event is a great opportunity to shed some light onto the findings of the latest Auditor-General’s Report 2013.

The DAP Annual National Political Retreat of 37 DAP MPs and 105 State Assemblypersons held over 3 days in One-City Hotel in Subang to determine the direction of the country, the role of DAP and our role within PR for 2015. The Retreat took several decisions to focus on the difficult economic conditions that has imposed almost unbearable burdens on ordinary Malaysians, the failure of good governance as demonstrated sadly by the national flood crisis in the East Coast as well as the increasingly violent threats of extremism, racism and oppressive laws towards the moderate identity, harmonious nature and democratic character of Malaysia

PRESS STATEMENT ON 16 JANUARY 2015 – SPEECH BY CHIEF MINISTER OF PENANG FOR PENANG HILL CORPORATION ANNUAL DINNER ON 15 JANUARY 2015

First and foremost, I would like to thank and congratulate the organizing committee for organizing the 4th Appreciation Night after the incorporation of Penang Hill Corporation.

I am very delighted to hear that the total number of visitors in 2014 has reached 1,364,074 surpassing the target set for the year (1.3 Mil) and 2013 figures of 1,233,556 passengers by 11%. Furthermore the performance of funicular operation has also been maintained and this has helped in improving the customer’s experience while taking the funicular service up to Penang Hill.

The Mask Of Impartiality And Fairplay Has Dropped Once Again Following The Failure To Arrest Dr Mashitah Ibrahim Under The Sedition Act, Proving That Both BN And The Inspector-General Of Police Practices Selective Investigation In Investigating UMNO Leaders And Those Opposed To UMNO.

The mask of impartiality and fairplay has dropped again following the failure to arrest former UMNO Deputy Minister Dr Mashitah Ibrahim under the Sedition Act, proving that both BN and the Inspector-General Of Police(IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar practices selective investigation in investigating UMNO leaders and those opposed to UMNO.I had asked the IGP to give full public accountability why the police failed to arrest Dr Mashitah Ibrahim for her inflammatory lies during the UMNO General Assembly that the Chinese community in Kedah had burned the Quran in a prayer ritual.

Challenge BN And Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar To Prove That They Do Not Practice Double-Standards And Committed Towards Maintaining Harmony In Mult-racial Malaysia By Arresting Dr Mashitah Ibrahim For Lying That The Chinese Community In Kedah Had Burned The Quran In A Prayer Ritual And Ibrahim Ali For Threatening To Burn The Malay Or Iban Version Of The Bible.

Dengan hormatnya kami ingin memaklumkan kepada YAB Dato’ Sri bahawa suatu ketetapan yang diluluskan oleh Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Pulau Pinang pada Mesyuarat Kedua Penggal Kedua tanggal 14 November 2014 seperti berikut:

Bahawa DUN Pulau Pinang mendesak Kerajaan Persekutuan untuk menangguhkan perlaksanaan Cukai Barangan dan Perkhidmatan (GST) yang bakal dilaksanakan pada 1 April 2015 sehingga negara kita mencapai status negara maju dan berpendapatan tinggi memandangkan pelbagai masalah dan implikasi buruk terhadap rakyat jelata serta negara belum bersedia untuk menghadapi inflasi yang semakin tidak terkawal di Malaysia;
