Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 31.7.2013

Ahmad Zahid Hamidi Practices Double-Standards By Not Demanding For A Fresh General Elections When The Elections Commission Never Made Any Correction With The Indelible Ink That Could Be Immediately Washed Off, But Yet Wanting DAP To Conduct Party Re-Elections When DAP Had Already Corrected The Mistake In The Results.

DAP’s worst fears that the directive for re-elections(pemilihan semula) issued to the DAP is politically motivated, has been realised with the short letter issued by the Registrar of Societies to the DAP Headquarters received at 4.48pm yesterday.(see attached) That this is an act of political victimisation and abuse of power by Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is indisputable when no grounds were given for this RoS directive.

Dato Roslan Saidin Has No Choice But To Publicly Withdraw And Apologise To All Doctors After Datuk Dr S Subramaniam Publicly Repudiated Roslan’s Sensational Lies That There Were 3 Chinese Doctors In 2 Government Hospitals In Penang That Were Racist For Refusing To Treat Malay Patients.(en/bm/cn)

Press Statement By Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng In Komtar, George Town On 31.7.2013.

UMNO Pinang Tunggal ADUN Dato Roslan Saidin should publicly withdraw and apologise to all doctors for his sensational lies that there were 3 Chinese doctors in 2 government hospitals in Penang that were racist for refusing to treat Malay patients caused by the DAP’s election campaign during the recent general elections. This follows Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam statement yesterday that there were no elements of racism in the Chinese doctors refusing to treat Malay patients.

Roslan had told the state assembly on July 3 that the incidents involved six patients, two doctors from the Kepala Batas Hospital and one from the Seberang Jaya Hospital. Roslan linked his claim of racist doctors to the DAP’s successful campaign in causing the drop in support for the BN from the Chinese community in the 13th general election. However Roslan did not provide any evidence nor made an official complaint to the Health Ministry.

Impromptu and Premature Announcement By Ahmad Zahid Hamidi To Direct DAP To Reconvene Party Elections When The Registrar of Societies(ROS) Has Not Even Prepared A Letter To The DAP Of This Decision Is An Act Of Political Victimisation And Abuse Of Power.(en/bm/cn)

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 30.7.2013

DAP is shocked at the pre-emptive and premature announcement by Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to direct DAP to reconvene party elections when the Registrar of Societies(ROS) has not even prepared a letter to the DAP of this decision is an act of political victimisation and abuse of power. Datuk Ahmad had made the announcement in an impromptu speech during the ROS’ buka puasa function in Putrajaya completely unprepared, without any written grounds on why DAP is required to call for fresh party elections.

This is an act of political vengeance and victimisation because DAP was never informed before hand, either verbally or in writing of this directive to hold fresh elections. Further the letter promised by ROS to be sent to DAP has not even been prepared or sent. When DAP National Organising Secretary and MP for Seremban Anthony Loke visited the ROS Headquarters in Putrajaya this morning, he was informed that the letter was not ready to be sent yet. Has ROS surrenderred its professionalism and integrity to UMNO and BN to be a willing tool to fix up BN’s political enemies?

The Federal Government Should Refocus The Police On Fighting Crime And Not Dealing With Political Opponents Of BN By Increasing The Police Personnel Fighting Crime From The Present 14.2% To At Least 50%.(en/bm/cn)

Press Statement By Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng In Komtar, George Town On 30.7.2013.

The Federal Government Should Refocus The Police On Fighting Crime And Not Dealing With Political Opponents Of BN By Increasing The Police Personnel Fighting Crime From The Present 14.2% To At Least 50%.

3 shootings yesterday, including the murder in broad daylight of Arab-Malaysian Development Bank founder Hussain Ahmad Najadi in the centre of Kuala Lumpur, proves that rising crime is no longer a perception but an indictment of the police failure and the urgent need to move away from its unhealthy obsession on political opponents of BN. The other two shootings was a murder in Ipoh and injury in Bukit Mertajam.

Previously the police had blamed the abolition of the Emergency Ordinance that permitted many gangsters to be released for the proliferation of gangland murders and rising crime. The police can no longer blame the abolition of the Emergency Ordinance on the murder of Hussain as he is no criminal but a respected international banker.

UMNO Youth And Utusan Malaysia Are Hypocrites And Practice Double-Standards For Failing To Ask For Action Against UMNO Youth President Khairy Jamaludin For Glorifying Communism(en/bm/cn)

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 29.7.2013

UMNO Youth And Utusan Malaysia Are Hypocrites And Practice Double-Standards For Failing To Ask For Action Against UMNO Youth President Khairy Jamaludin For Glorifying Communism By Forming An Alliance Between BN Youth And The Communist Youth League of China(CYL).

Utusan Malaysia and Umno Youth continues to play with the fire of racism and lies to further divide the nation with walls of hatred and fear, by questioning the approval of a Chinese language film ‘The New Village’ that they alleged glorifies communism. Both criticised the film as twisting historical facts and inciting the people by glorifying the Malayan Communist Party as heroes whilst the British colonialists, the army and police are enemies and ‘bad people’ that needed to be destroyed.

DAP will oppose any action by the BN Federal Government to restrict usage of the internet (en/cn)

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 28.7.2013

DAP will oppose any action by the BN Federal Government to restrict usage of the internet because this is a selfish attempt against knowledge and to undermine freedom of information so as to perpetuate BN’s continued hold on power. Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek said internet misuse due to the liberty given in Malaysia has reached a critical level and his ministry would not hesitate to revise internet facilities and access.

This desperate attempt to maintain the status quo will not succeed because the people has spoken in the 13th General Elections by giving PR a popular mandate of 51% of the votes, causing BN to lose the popular vote for the first time in history since 1957. Further, this violates BN’s own Bill of Guarantees to Multimedia Supercorridor of no internet censorship.

Registrar of Societies(ROS) Director-General Should Show Proof That DAP Members Harboured Hopes To Form A New Party Or Else Be Exposed In Court Of Behaving Maliciously And Prejudged To De-Register DAP By Hook Or By Crook With False Fabrications And Made-up Lies.(en/bm/cn)

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 27.7.2013.

Registrar of Societies(ROS) Director-General Datuk Abdul Rahman Othman should show proof that DAP members harboured hopes to form a new party or else be exposed in court of behaving maliciously and prejudged to de-register DAP by hook or by crook with false fabrications and made-up lies. Datuk Abdul Rahman said ROS would not likely entertain requests by DAP members to set up a new party.

This is outrageous as DAP leaders had neither considered nor raised the suggestion of forming a new party in our outside our regular Central Executive Committee(CEC) meetings. DAP regrets that Datuk Abdul Rahman is knowingly making such a bare-faced lie whilst fasting in the holy month of Ramadan. The ROS has allowed itself to be used a willing political tool by UMNO to defeat the DAP what UMNO can not succeed in the general elections by illegally de-registering it.

Action Should Be Taken Against Utusan Malaysia Under The 1984 Printing Presses And Publications Act Or Multimedia and Communications Act 1998 For False News(en/bm/cn)

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 26.7.2013.

Action Should Be Taken Against Utusan Malaysia Under The 1984 Printing Presses And Publications Act Or Multimedia and Communications Act 1998 For False News That Police Will Be Using The Sedition Act Against Those Who Spread Photos Of The Makeshift Canteen In Shower Room Controversy.

DAP condemns that death threats made against the whistle-blower and parent of a student SK Seri Pristana who exposed the case of students being made to eat in a school shower room, Guneswari, as well as the school’s headmaster Mohamad Nasir Mohd Noor. Such violent threats are criminal wrongdoings and completely against Malaysian culture of rational, reasoned and objective solutions towards problem solving. DAP hopes the police and catch those responsible for spreading this culture of violence.

On another matter, the public had had enough of lies spread by Utusan Malaysia to foment fear and hate amongst Malaysia’s multi-religious society. For a paper that lies about PR leaders is done as easily like breathing in and breathing out. Opposition leaders like myself winning defamation suits in courts against Utusan has not stopped Utusan from continuing its lying culture. Nothing is beyond Utusan Malaysia until it can openly call for the bloody May 13 racial riots that killed thousands of innocent Malaysians to be celebrated as a holy day.

DAP express disappointment at the nervous haste of Deputy Education Minister II P Kamalanathan in quickly closing the controversy of requiring non-Muslim students to use the shower room as a makeshift canteen in Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Pristana in Sungai Buloh during the fasting month of Ramadan without giving a full public explanation.(en/bm/cn)

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On25.7.2013.

DAP express disappointment at the nervous haste of Deputy Education Minister II P Kamalanathan in quickly closing the controversy of requiring non-Muslim students to use the shower room as a makeshift canteen in Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Pristana in Sungai Buloh during the fasting month of Ramadan without giving a full public explanation. The parents of 1,300 students in the school, including the 28 non-Muslim students, want an answer to the inconsistencies and self-contradictions in facts and events, and all Malaysians want the truth and nothing but the truth to be revealed before they are convinced by Kamalanathan’s claims that this is not an issue related to race or religion.

Such nervous hastiness in closing the controversy will be seen as a cover-up unless Kamalanathan can explain why the parents were not informed since March this year that the canteen will be relocated to the shower room because of renovations. Further why were there no signs of renovation of the canteen? If Continue reading ‘DAP express disappointment at the nervous haste of Deputy Education Minister II P Kamalanathan in quickly closing the controversy of requiring non-Muslim students to use the shower room as a makeshift canteen in Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Pristana in Sungai Buloh during the fasting month of Ramadan without giving a full public explanation.(en/bm/cn)’

espite falling far short of its 4,000 vote majority target, DAP congratulates UMNO for its victory in Kuala Besut state by-election yesterday(en/cn)

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 25.7.2013.

Despite falling far short of its 4,000 vote majority target, DAP congratulates UMNO for its victory in Kuala Besut state by-election yesterday. BN candidate Tengku Zaihan Che Ku Abdul Rahman defeated PAS’ Azlan Yusof to retain Kuala Besut for BN with a 2,592 votes of majority, a 158 vote improvement over the 13thGeneral Elections.

The ruling government always have a clear advantage during by-elections, which allow them to concentrate their resources fully. BN was expected to win with a larger majority in this by-election, following a slew of electoral pledges that carry a total price tag of RM 477 million, By increasing its majority by 158 votes despite offering nearly half a billion ringgit in projects, the results show that nothing has really changed between the recent general elections and this by-election.

DAP commends ordinary Malaysians, both Muslims and non-Muslims, for uniting together in disdain and condemnation of the offensive act of the Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Pristana in Sungai Buloh (en/bm/cn)

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 24.7.2013.

DAP commends ordinary Malaysians, both Muslims and non-Muslims, for uniting together in disdain and condemnation of the offensive act of the Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Pristana in Sungai Buloh in placing non-Muslim students of a primary school to eat in a shower room instead of a canteen during fasting month. The makeshift dining room in the shower room is also located next to the smelly toilets.

Many are angered at such humiliation of non-Muslim students by using the pretext of the holy fasting month of Ramadan. As a Muslim ulama told me, non-Muslims can eat in front of Muslims and the Muslim will get more “pahala”(merit). Islam does not permit such actions and DAP hopes that Malaysians can differentiate between the peaceful and noble Islam from those who distort the good name of Islam to force young children to such degrading treatment.

Malaysians have a right to be angry at such irresponsible and irrational action by the school. In expressing their anger, DAP hopes that this can be channelled against the Education Ministry’s failure to inculcate respect of all religions. The Education Ministry’s failure to take into account the sensitivities of other religions is only a reflection of the attitude of the BN leaders in Federal government.

Kerajaan Persekutuan BN Menipu Rakyat Dengan Menafikan Ia Mengamalkan Diskriminasi Cukai “Satu Negara Dua Sistem” Yang Hanya Memberikan Insentif Cukai 15% Kepada Pakar Warga Asing Dan Rakyat Malaysia Yang Pulang Di Kawasan Wilayah Pembangunan Iskandar Sahaja Dan Bukan Seluruh Negara.(bm/CN)

Kenyataan Akhbar Ketua Menteri Pulau Pinang Lim Guan Eng Di Komtar, George Town Pada 24.7.13.

Lembaga Kemajuan Ikan Malaysia (LKIM) Harus Menjelaskan Kepada Rakyat Apakah Kerugian Selepas Gagalnya Projek Malaysian International Tuna Port Sdn Bhd (MITP) Bernilai RM243.38 Juta Di Batu Maung.(en/cn)

Kenyataan Akhbar Ketua Menteri Pulau Pinang Lim Guan Eng Di Komtar, George Town Pada 22.7.13.

Laporan Ketua Audit Negara 2009 menimbulkan soalan apakah projek yang dikatakan projek usahasama swasta, tetapi kerajaan pula terpaksa menanggung kerugian akibat mengeluarkan surat sokongan ‘letter of undertaking’.
