Speech by Chief Minister of Penang At The Launching of Penang STEM (e/c)

Today marks an important chapter for Penang State Government in our effort to cultivate Science and Technology to encourage and awareness of Industry 4.0. I’m proud to be launching the island version of Penang STEM after having launched the mainland version last week with much success.

Klaus Schwab, the Chairman of World Economic Forum issues a warning that Industry 4.0 is fundamentally different from previous revolutions. It is not just a change in digital technology. It is a fusion of technologies and their interaction across the physical, digital and biological domains. It will fundamentally change the way we work and the way we live. BN Should Declare That They Would Demolish All Illegal Structures And Hawkers in Penang To Allow The People To Decide Who Is Right And Has No Shame.(e/c)

Press Statement By Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng In Komtar, George Town On19.8.2017.

Gerakan President Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong should remember that all the false and favourable reports in the BN-controlled media did not save Gerakan from losing all its Penang seats in both the 2008 and 2013 general elections. To blame the Pakatan state government for the problem of illegal structures, hawkers, Chinese and Hindu temples, churches and factories(or illegal situation) ignores the fact that they existed before 2008 and was a sad legacy of BN’s weak and indecisive leadership.

This was admitted today by BN Penang Chairman Teng Chang Yeow that the illegal situation was a result of development during 50 years of BN’s rule of Penang. Teng did not deny that Barisan National failed to solve the problem but like Mah Siew Keong, refused to say whether they agreed with Pakatan’s solution. When Pakatan took over the Penang State government in 2008 we were forced to deal with this legacy of illegal situation inherited from Barisan National. (m/c)

Kenyataan Akhbar Ketua Menteri Pulau Pinang Lim Guan Eng Di Komtar, George Town Pada 13.8.2017.

Eulogy of Kerk Kim Hock By Penang Chief Minister, DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 10.8.2017.

Kerk Kim Hock Is A True Malaysian Patriot Who Was Faithful To His Family And Friends, As He Was Faithful To The Party And Its Principles.

Kerk Kim Hock left us on 9th August 2017, after slipping into 3 day coma, following complications from surgery on Sunday. His passing shocked everyone, as he looked healthy and well on his way to recovery. He had made a 61st birthday wish recently to live until 70 years old. DAP extends our deepest condolences to his family. Their loss is not just a personal loss, not just a loss to DAP but also a great loss to the nation and Malaysians, especially to those in Melaka.

Even Doubling The Expansion Of The Penang International Airport(PIA) To A Capacity Of 13 Million Passengers Will Not Last Till 2025, Based On The Growth Rate Of 8.71% For The First 5 Months Of 2017, The Proposed Capacity Of 10 Million Passengers Will Be Exceeded Before 2023. (e/c)

Press Statement By Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng In Komtar, George Town On 7.8.2017.

Even doubling the expansion of the Penang International Airport(PIA) to a capacity of 13 million passengers will not last till 2025. Based on the growth rate of 8.71% for the first 5 months of 2017, the proposed capacity of 10 million passengers will be exceeded before 2023. This follow the written reply to my parliamentary question(below) that the Federal government is only planning an expansion of PIA to a capacity of 10 million passengers to last till 2025. How Can Penang State Government’s Debts Triple If The Water Debts And Assets Amounting To RM655 Million Had Not Migrated To The Federal Government, When Penang Has Currently The Lowest Debts In The Country At RM65 Million And Is The Only State Without Any Outstanding Debt Arrears?(e/m/c)

Press Statement By Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng In Komtar, George Town On 6.8.2017.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Abdul Rahman Dahlan should take a crash course in accounting when he claimed that the Penang state government’s debts would have tripled if the Federal government had not intervened. How can Penang State Government’s debts triple if the water debts and assets amounting to RM655 million had not migrated to the Federal government, when Penang has currently the lowest debts in the country at RM65 million and is the only state in Malaysia without any outstanding debt arrears? The Penang International Airport Should Be Expanded To At Least Double Its Present Capacity Of 6.5 Million Passengers To More Than 13 Million Passengers, With 6.7 Million Passengers Recorded In 2016, And Growing By A Further 8.7% For The First 5 Months Of 2017.(e/c)

Press Statement By Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng In Komtar, George Town On 3.8.2017.

The Penang state government welcomes the assurances by Finance Minister 2 Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani a few days ago, that the Federal government will look at how to expand the Penang International Airport(PIA). We agree with Johari that the PIA has exceeded its present capacity of 6.5 million passengers, with 6.7 million passengers recorded in 2016, four years ahead of the scheduled 2020.

For the first 5 months of 2017, passenger movements grew by 8.7 % and is expected to exceed 7 million passengers by end 2017. For this reason, the Penang state government proposes that the PIA be doubled in size with a capacity that exceeds 13 million passengers, to take into account the strong growth rate driven by high tourist numbers. Failure to do so will make PIA heavily congested until PIA may be known as Penang International Pasar Malam instead. Abdul Rahman Dahlan Is So Desperately Jealous Of Penang State Government’s Remarkable Success In Being The Only State In Malaysia To Have Zero Outstanding Debt Payment Arrears That He Attempts To Claim Credit That The Federal Government Is Responsible For The Reduction In Penang State Debts.(e/m/c)

Press Statement By Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 3.8.2017.

Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan is unfit to be a Minister in the Prime Minister Department not only because he previously chickened out of his own challenge to debate with me, but now has shown to be so desperately jealous of the Penang state government’s sterling financial performance. Abdul Rahman Dahlan is so desperately jealous of Penang state government’s remarkable success in being the only state in Malaysia to have zero outstanding debt payment arrears that he attempts to claim credit that the Federal government is responsible for the reduction in state debts.

Is Abdul Rahman green with envy because Penang’s success in debt reduction and zero debt payment arrears could not be emulated by the Federal government, which instead saw an astonishing increase of RM 147 billion in 5 years from RM 501.6 billion in 2012 to RM 648.5 billion in 2016? This Federal government debt would have exceeded RM800 billion if contingent liabilities in the form of Federal government guarantees and support letters were included.
