Press Conference Statement By Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng in Komtar, George Town On 26.2.2016.

The Penang state government wishes to highlight two recent High Court cases which reveals the potentially huge compensation payout faced by the present Penang state government involving hundreds of millions of ringgit due to criminal failures of the previous BN state government.

The two recent cases involve one in Majlis Perbandaran Seberang Perai(MPSP) in 1994 known as the NEG Engineering Sdn Bhd case involving a huge RM 243 million claim whilst the second one is against the state government on a land acquisition matter in 1992 known as the Bagan Serai Housing Estate Sdn Bhd case on the present Megamall complex site in Prai, Seberang Perai.(see attached). MPSP was fortunate to win the NEG Engineering Sdn Bhd case which involved an active politician who was a leader in the previous government, but there is a possibility that they may appeal. Reports have also been filed by MPSP to the police and Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission(MACC). We will be blamed for not building roads but we are now blamed also for building roads. Tell us what should we do? (e/c)

Press Statement by the Chief Minister of Penang, Lim Guan Eng in George Town, Komtar on 25.2.2016.

In its statement dated 21st February 2016, the Penang Forum Steering Committee (“Steering Committee”) raised two main points against the Penang Island City Council’s (“MBPP”) plans for a road widening exercise involving part of Jalan Masjid Negeri (also popularly known among Penangites as Green Lane Road). As we have nothing to hide, we offer to meet with the Penang Forum to discuss these issues in a rational and not emotive manner, so as not to miss the woods from the trees.

Whilst the state government is puzzled at the manufactured furore over the removing and replanting of 16 trees of 30 years old, almost akin if not greater than the uproar of certain states cutting down and removing entire forest reserves, we will strive to respond to 2 main issues raised in the interests of transparency and open government.
First was whether the additional lane can alleviate the current traffic congestion problems. Second, whether this exercise is in tandem with the Penang State Government’s commitment to a cleaner and greener state. The answer to both is yes. Speech On the Occasion Of His Father Lim Kit Siang’s 75th Birthday Celebrations

Speech By Lim Guan Eng On the Occasion Of His Father Lim Kit Siang’s 75th Birthday Celebrations In Equatorial Hotel, Penang On 20.2.2016.

This is one of my most emotional speeches I am giving on behalf of my family, my party the Democratic Action Party and many Malaysians to pay tribute in commemoration of Lim Kit Siang’s 75th birthday party. I am also speaking as a son, the first-born to his father, a son who gave him much anguish and anxiety as well as I hope joy and pride.

I wish to start as a son together with my two sisters Hui Ming, Hui Ying, my brother Dr Lim Guan Choon and also my dearest Mom. No words can express our honour and blessings to have you as our father principally because we never have to doubt nor question your love for us. You were always giving and generous and unstinting in your love that we know that even if the whole world was against us, you were always there for us.

BN’s twin ang pows of 100% increase in workers levy and amendments to the Official Secrets Act(OSA) to impose life imprisonment and 10 strokes of rotan will not overcome Malaysia’s economic and political crisis caused by financial scandals of RM 42 billion 1MDB and RM 2.6 billion donation scandal. Malaysians were hoping for an abolition of the much-hated GST during the recalibration of the 2016 Budget on January 28th by the Prime Minister due to the plunge in the oil prices to less than USD 30 per barrel.
