Ucapan Setiausaha-Agung DAP Dan Ahli Parlimen Bagan Lim Guan Eng dalam perbahasan khas sidang parlimen untuk Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement(TPPA) Pada 26 Januari 2016.

BN-controlled mainstream media continues to paint a false, negative and distorted picture of the Penang state government’s efforts to protect our hills with sustainable development. It is sad that the comments made by NGOs which are deemed favourable to the state government are not even reported or deliberately slanted against the state government.
Such demonisation of the Penang state government and the Chief Minister by the mainstream media has intensified despite explanations and public dialogues held between the Penang Chief Minister and NGOs. Lately the Chief Minister received an explanation from an NGO, the Penang Forum, rebutting a report from The Star following a fruitful dialogue with the Chief Minister on what they had actually said to the press. Unfortunately Penang Forum’s comments were either not reported or misreported by the mainstream media. Email by Penang Forum as follows:- Continue reading “Penang Forum’s comments were either not reported or misreported by the mainstream media(e/c)”
Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan In Kuala Lumpur On 25.1.2016.
DAP remains baffled by the preposterous statement made by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang that DAP is supportive of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) to support trade in the country, that is purportedly controlled by the Chinese community.
Malaysians would expect such misrepresentation of DAP’s position or a racially-tinged statement from UMNO. For a PAS leader to indulge in such baseless untruths shows that PAS is now not only co-operating with UMNO but also adopting UMNO’s dirty politics of slander against the DAP. Malaysians Must Unite Against The Extremist And Racist Forces That Demonise Non-Muslim And Non-Malays With Hate, Fear And Lies.
Peace-loving and moderate Malaysias must unite against the extremist and racist forces that demonise non-Muslims and non-Malays with hate, fear and lies. Failure to do so will wreck nearly 60 years of nation-building, and leave a shattered nation that would be a fertile ground for more virulent and violent ideologies.

As a major exporter of crude palm oil that also relies on oil-related revenues to finance growing expenditures by the Federal Government, Malaysia faces a fiscal crisis with recent drop in oil prices. For this reason, Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is forced to recalibrate the 2016 Budget on 28 January 2016 to make up for the revenue shortfall.
Based on Penang Institute’s statement back in October 2015, it was already expected that the then decrease in oil price would reduce the national coffers from RM64 Billion in 2014 to RM29.4 Billion in 2016. This would translate to crude oil based revenue forming 29 percent of total government revenue in 2014 and a low 13 percent of total government revenue for 2016. The traffic congestion during the holiday session and huge traffic jam yesterday caused by a minor accident where a car overturned on the First Penang Bridge, will be a regular feature as Penang emerges as a regional and national tourist, services and manufacturing hub. If we do not want traffic congestion to be a regular feature for our children, there is a need for a paradigm shift towards a concept of “moving people instead of moving vehicles” that entails huge investment in public transportation and infrastructure.
The Federal government realises how serious traffic congestion is in Penang, and has dangled a LRT system only on the island, with the Prime Minister himself promising 3 times to build one. However, just like his previous empty promises to abolish the Sedition Act, the Prime Minister has not kept his word to Penang. 2016 New Year Message By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 1.1.2016
Pakatan Harapan(PH) economic policies of abolishing GST, corruption and crony capitalism would improve Malaysians’ livelihood unlike BN’s failed economic management that compels each of us to take 2 jobs to survive. Financial scandals and failed economic policies have resulted in high national government debt, high personal household debt(87% of GDP that is the second highest in Asia), high budget deficit, high depreciation of the ringgit and high cost of living.
This has necessitated the suggestion by Deputy Minister of International Trade And Industry Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan that Malaysians need to take two jobs to survive.
