Hopes That The Election Of Jokowi As Indonesia President Can Lead To Effective And Concrete Measures To Stop The Annual Haze Pollution As A Result Of Illegal Forest Burnings In Sumatera And Kalimantan By Unscrupulous Businessmen Clearing Land For Oil Palm Estates.
DAP congratulates reformist candidate Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on his historic election as the newly-elected President of Indonesia. As the first outsider and from a poor background to be elected to the nation’s highest office, Jokowi carries the hopes and goodwill of his country-men as well as many foreign friends of Indonesia to create a greater and more prosperous Indonesia, that can lift many of his poor country-men like him out of poverty.
On another level, Jokowi’s election as President is a victory for democratic principles of majority rules, fighting corruption and clean politics without smear tactics. Malaysia can learn how to conduct an election process fairly and properly that respects the principle of “one-person, one-vote, one-value” principle that abides by the decision of the majority. Democracy is not democracy when the minority rules over the majority.

Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Abu Bakar has never ceased to serially baffle and confuse Malaysians when he forgets his statutory role as a IGP but talks instead like an extremist UMNO politician. Khalid Abu Bakar should be ashamed that instead of showing any remorse on the police behalf for failing to find those who caused the death of Teoh Beng Hock, the IGP is now trying to divert attention for his failure by taking action against Lim Kit Siang for sedition.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said that DAP Parliamentary leader Lim Kit Kit Siang had committed an offence under the Sedition Act by stating that Teoh was murdered and that the real perpetrators had yet to be arrested in an article in The Rocket, published on July 16. The IGP claimed that Lim Kit Siang’s article on the fifth-year anniversary of Teoh Beng Hock’s death was attempting to incite people to think that Teoh Beng Hock was killed.

Finance Ministry Must Explain Whether 1 Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) Will Go Bankrupt Or Even Insolvent If They Continue To Rely On An Asset Revaluation Gain Of RM2.7 Billion To Record A Profit Of RM 778 Million And Ignores The Rise In Total Debts To RM 42.3 Billion That Nearly Matches Its Total Assets Of RM44.7 Billion?
The Finance Ministry must explain whether 1 Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) may go bankrupt or even insolvent if they continue to rely on an Asset Revaluaton Gain of RM 2.7 billion to record a profit of RM 778 million and ignores the rise in total debts to RM 42.3 billion that nearly matches its total assets of RM 44.7 billion? When 1MDB finally submitted its much-delayed accounts for FY2013 ended March 31to the Companies Commission of Malaysia, after having changed auditors, 1MDB revealed once againthat it cannot make money without creatively manufacturing a paper profit from land revaluation.
1MDB’s after tax profit of RM778.2 million (on revenue of RM2.6 billion) for FY2013 was the result of a land revaluation gain of RM2.7 billion, without which 1MDB would have lost RM 1.8 billion. The same trick was played out for financial year 2012 when 1MDB recorded an after-tax profit of RM 44.2 million, only after making gains of RM 569.9 million from revaluing its land assets.

With all this unethical and immoral credit given by Minister of Urban Wellbeing Housing and Local Government Abdul Rahman Dahlan of good billionaire cronies of BN, who are grateful for what Malaysia has given them, against bad BN cronies who have forgotten and ungrateful, it is useful to note that even pro-capitalist economists oppose crony capitalism. Describing it as corruption, crony capitalism is a distorted perversion of capitalism because it is not based on free market and rule of law but on favouritism and illegal abuse of public trust.
The credit given by Abdul Rahman to a billionaire BN crony shows that BN is openly unashamed in breeding cronies who benefit privately at public expense. And Malaysia is the only so-called democratic country in the world where the BN Federal government is not ashamed of celebrating a crony capitalistic policy as well as BN cronies who are so proud of their BN crony status until they are not afraid to make it public.

During my recent tourism mission to Hong Kong, I observed that many economies that successfully transformed themselves into a high-income developed economy, share common critical success factors(CSF) with Hong Kong. Amongst the common CSFs are rule of law, open markets, good governance, Integrity in leadership, focus on building and retaining human talent, a livable city that is clean, green safe and healthy; as well as building democratic institutions that respects diversity and human dignity.
Also there is a similar institution like the ICAC in Hong Kong to fight corruption effectively. Penang can learn, emulate and adopt the same CSFs to achieve our vison of becoming an international and intelligent city that is developed with a high-income economy. However, Penang aspires to have our own unique and special identity. We do not want to be a carbon copy of Seoul, Hong Kong or Singapore.

Bank Negara Should Reinstate Developer Interest-Bearing Scheme(DIBS) For First Time Buyers Of All Properties Below RM 400,000 To Compensate For Any Negative Inflationary Impact And Higher Loan Repayments From The Increase In Interest Rate By 0.25% From 3% To 3.25%.
Bank Negara should reinstate Developer Interest-Bearing Scheme(DIBS) for first time buyers for all properties below RM 400,000 to compensate for any negative inflationary impact and higher loan repayments from the increase in interest rate by 0.25% from 3% to 3.25%. The increase in interest rates would have inflationary impact, raise the cost of living as well as dampen consumption spending as more money would be required to service their loans.
This would not only give less money to spend for existing borrowers of all loans, increase the financing cost for businesses leading to higher prices and also make it more difficult for first-time buyers to get loan approvals. One of the main complaints of developers and first-time buyers is the difficulty of getting loan approvals due to the stringent repayment ability requirements imposed by Bank Negara.

Tan Sri Muhyiddin And BN Are Exploiting The Imaginary Threat Of Non-Malays And Non-Muslims As A Bogey To Instil Fear Into Malays And Muslims To Distract Attention From The Real Issue Of Rising Prices And Favoured Treatment Of BN Cronies Such As Rice And Independent Power Generation At The Expense Of Public Interest.
Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and BN are exploiting the imaginary threat of non-Malays and non-Muslims as a bogey to instil fear into Malays and Muslims to distract attention from the real issue of rising prices and the favoured treatment of BN cronies on essential commodities and services such as rice and Independent power generation at the expense of public interest.

Israel’s Right To Exist As A State Should Not Come With Bloody Hands And Be Based On Genocide Of Palestinians But On Values Of Humanity And Respect For Human Dignity And Life.
The human tragedy in the Gaza Strip is spiraling rapidly down a descent of mindless violence, bloodshed and loss of life. So far more than 40 people, including women and children, have been reportedly killed with the numbers still rising, in the latest Israeli bombardment in retaliation to missiles fired by Hamas into Israel.
This follows a tense week of violent protests sparked by the horrific deaths of three Israeli teenagers and the apparent revenge-killing of a Palestinian 16-year-old teenager, Mohammed Abu Khdair. Earlier this week, the Hamas leadership made a public call of a ceasefire to end hostilities and an end to what it says is Israeli meddling in the Palestinian unity government of Hamas and Palestine Liberation Organisation(PLO).

How Can Tan Sri Muhyiddin Threats’s Of Another May 13 Incident Be Merely A Reminder When He Assigns Blame Only To Non-Malays And Non-Muslims By Stating That Muslims And Malays Continue To Be Insulted?
The nation was first shocked by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s threats that Malaysia could see another bloody May 13 incident if no efforts were made to preserve inter-ethnic harmony, especially when Malays and Muslims continue to be insulted. The nation was shocked a second time when UMNO leaders, MCA President Liow Tiong Lai and Gerakan President Mah Siew Keong tried to whitewash Muhyiddin’s threats by callously and casually dismissing it as merely a reminder.
How can Tan Sri Muhyiddin threats’s of another May 13 incident be merely a reminder when he assigns blame only to non-Malays and non-Muslims by stating that Muslims and Malays continue to be insulted? Muhyiddin’s threats can only be considered a reminder if he does not single out any group or community. However, by identifying Muslims and Malays as the injured party by being continually insulted, Muhyiddin is clearly making a threat.

MCA And Gerakan Are Puppets Of UMNO Because They Fear The Deputy Prime Minister More Than Truth And Justice – Liow Tiong Lai And Mah Siew Keong Has Taken The Unprincipled Stand Of Supporting Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s Racist And Extremist Threats Of May 13 Incident Against Non-Malays And Non-Muslims.
No amount of cowardly and deceitful whitewashing by MCA President Liow Tiong Lai and Gerakan President Datuk Mah Siew Keong can hide the truth that both Gerakan and MCA supports the Deputy Prime Minister in making racist, bigoted and extremist threats of May 13 incidents against non-Malays and non-Muslims. Both had tried to whitewash Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s threats of another May 13 if the Malays and Muslims continue to be insulted by casually dismissing the threat as just a “reminder” to Malaysians not to take the country’s peace for granted.

Press Statement by DAP Secretary-General and MP for Bagan Lim Guan Eng in Kuala Lumpur on 6 July 2014
Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has shocked the nation in threats published by UMNO’s mouthpiece Utusan Malaysia that Malaysia could see another bloody May 13 incident if no efforts were made to preserve inter-ethnic harmony, especially when Malays and Muslims continue to be insulted. By blaming the non-Muslims and non-Malays if there is to be death and violence in any future May 13 riots, Muhyiddin is first dehumanizing them should there be any violence on non-Muslim and non-Malays.
Such inflammatory remarks is not only irresponsible but shows that Muhyiddin is only fit to be a role model for right-wing NGOs like Perkasa and Isma as a bigot and extremist but completely unfit and unqualified to be a Deputy Prime Minister for all Malaysians – Malays, Indians, Chinese, Ibans and Kadazans. Muhyiddin has unfortunately built a reputation as a poster boy for Perkasa and Isma when he renounced Prime Minster Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s now discredited propaganda of 1 Malaysia by stressing that he is a Malay first and a Malaysian second.
