Pakatan Rakyat ceases to exist

Pakatan Rakyat was formed on 1st April 2008 as a joint response by Democratic Action Party (DAP), Parti KeADILan Rakyat (PKR) and Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) to the deep yearning for political change by Malaysian voters following the political tsunami of the 12th General Election on 8th March 2008.

DAP MENGALU-ALUKAN KEMASUKAN ‘PEWIRA UBAH’ SASTERAWAN NEGARA DATUK A. SAMAD SAID SEBAGAI AHLI DAP

KENYATAAN MEDIA SETIAUSAHA AGUNG DAP, LIM GUAN ENG, MERANGKAP AHLI PARLIMEN BAGAN DI KUALA LUMPUR PADA 14 JUN 2015
DAP MENGALU-ALUKAN KEMASUKAN ‘PEWIRA UBAH’ SASTERAWAN NEGARA DATUK A. SAMAD SAID SEBAGAI AHLI DAP

How Then Can The 4 PAS Councillors Serve The Penang State Government Effectively When Their Party Has Severed Ties With Me And DAP Penang State Chairman And Local Government EXCO Chow Kon Yeow?(e/m/c)

Press Statement By Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng In Komtar, George Town On 11.6.2015.

PAS should not hide like Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is hiding from Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on the 1MDB scandal, but bravely bear full responsibility for killing off PR, when the PAS Muktamar accepted without debate a motion by their Dewan Ulama to sever ties with DAP. Logically PAS should then direct their government representatives to resign their posts since they are no longer part of PR.

PAS new leadership’s refusal to direct their government representatives to resign and the embarrassing spectacle of PAS 4 Majlis Bandaraya Pulau Pinang and Majlis Perbandaran Seberang Perai councillors clinging to their posts, has devalued the dignity and honour of PAS in the eyes of the public. As the Chief Minister of Penang in my capacity as DAP Secretary-General, PAS severing ties with DAP is effectively severing ties with me as Penang Chief Minister.

Speech at 7th Annual Corporate Governance Summit (e/c)

SPEECH BY YAB TUAN LIM GUAN ENG, CHIEF MINISTER OF PENANG AT 7th ANNUAL CORPORATE GOVERNANCE SUMMIT
8th of June, 2015 @ The Westin Kuala Lumpur “PROMOTING SUSTAINABLE ENVIRONMENT FOR INVESTORS”

I am honored to be given this opportunity to address such an august crowd on a topic which is of paramount importance to Malaysia’s corporate leaders and those who are interested in investing in our country.
This is a particularly timely event especially given the many questions surrounding the issue of corporate governance involving some of our largest government linked companies and of course, the elephant in the room, Satu Malaysia Dalam Bahaya or 1MDB.

But before I go into that, let me set the context by saying that the challenge of promoting corporate governance and increasing investor confidence is not a uniquely Asian phenomenon. For those of us who have short memories, let us not forget the collapse of Enron in 2001 as a result of a massive accounting fraud. Not only did thousands of employees lose their jobs and their retirement accounts, shareholders lost $74 billion, and the big 5 became the big 4 when Enron’s auditors, Arthur Andersen, had to be dissolved.

The Expected Resignations Of PAS Representatives From The Penang State Government Will Be Immediately Accepted Without Question Because There Is No Impact Whatsoever On The Stability, Continuity And Crediblity Of The Penang State Government.(e/m/c)

Press Statement By Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng In Komtar, George Town On6.6.2015.

The expected resignations of PAS representatives from the Penang state government will be immediately accepted without question because there is no impact whatsoever on the stability, continuity and crediblity of the Penang state government. The resignations of the PAS representatives from the Penang state government is inevitable following the PAS Muktamar’s decision‎ to accept a motion by its Dewan Ulama to sever ties with DAP and yet remain in Pakatan Rakyat (PR) without debate. Even though no debate was permitted during the PAS Muktamar for such an important motion, the new PAS leadership is entitled to run its party in a manner it deems fit, whether in a democratic or an autocratic style.
