Sim Tong Him Has 24 Hours To Withdraw And Fully Support DAP Candidate For Kota Laksamana Lai Keun Ban Or Else He Would Have To Bear Full Responsibility For BN Winning Both Kota Laksamana State Seat And Kota Melaka Parliamentary Seat.(en/bm/cn)

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng In DAP Headquarters In Kuala Lumpur On 21.4.2013.

DAP Parliamentary candidate for Sim Tong Him has 24 hours to withdraw and fully support DAP candidate for Kota Laksamana Lai Keun Ban or else he would have to bear full responsibility for BN winning both Kota Laksamana state seat and Kota Melaka parliamentary seat. DAP national leadership have received many queries on how to vote following Sim’s shocking decision to contest for Kota Melaka parliament under DAP ticket but contest Kota Laksamana state seat as an independent. Sim is using one leg to step on two different boats at the same time.

Many are offended by this act of dishonesty by Sim in cheating the party to give him the letter of authority to contest in the Kota Melaka parliamentary seat but yet not inform the DAP national leadership that he intends to contest in the Kota Laksamana state seat as an independent. If I had known that Sim had intended to contest the Kota Laksamana state seat as an independent, I would not have signed the letter of authority as DAP Secretary-General appointing Sim as the DAP candidate to contest as the Kota Melaka parliamentary candidate.

Sim Tong Him Can Not Contest Under DAP As Parliamentary Candidate for Kota Melaka And At The Same Time As An Independent State Candidate For Kota Laksamana.(en/cn)

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng In DAP Headquarters In Kuala Lumpur On 20.4.2013.

Sim Tong Him Can Not Contest Under DAP As Parliamentary Candidate for Kota Melaka And At The Same Time As An Independent State Candidate For Kota Laksamana.

DAP urges DAP Parliamentary candidate for Kota Melaka Sim Tong Him to publicly withdraw as an independent candidate for the Kota Laksamana state seat as well as declaring full support for DAP official state candidate Lai Kuen Ban. By putting himself as an independent candidate for Kota Laksamana against Lai Kuen Ban, Sim is doing not only the party a great disservice but also set back the hopes of Melaka voters who had wanted to see a change of government in Malaysia from BN to PR.

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng In DAP Headquarters In Kuala Lumpur On 18.4.2013

DAP will use the PAS symbol in Peninsular Malaysia and the PKR symbol in Sabah & Sarawak for the 13th general elections unless the Registrar of Societies (ROS)’s cowardly and dastardly attempt to assassinate the Rocket is withdrawn by revoking its 17 April 2013 letter not recognising the office-bearers of the Central Executive Committee(CEC). By not recognising the office-bearers of the CEC elected by the delegates on 15 December 2012, I have no power to issue authorisation letters in my official capacity as Secretary-General to DAP
candidates to use the Rocket symbol.

The DAP CEC in its meeting tonight decided that ROS must revoke its letter not recognising the office-bearers in the CEC by 3pm tomorrow on Friday.

No Point For Dato Seri Najib Abdul Razak To Sign Integrity Pledges (en/bm/cn)

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 9.4.2013.

No Point For Dato Seri Najib Abdul Razak To Sign Integrity Pledges If He Does Not Commit To Publicly Declaring Assets, Open Competitive Tenders And Return The Use Of Government Jets, Helicopters And Vehicles Back To The Government.

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak pledges to fight corruption in the BN 13th General Election manifesto by establishing more specialist graft courts and allowing greater public disclosure of government contracts is meaningless if he refuses to commit to publicly declaring his assets, open competitive tenders and return the use of government jets, helicopters and vehicles back to the government.

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 7.4.2013.

BN 13th General Election Manifesto Does Not Address The Macro-Economic Problems Of 4Ds of Debt, Deficit, Deceit From Corruption And Brain Drain That Would Stifle Efforts To Escape The Middle Income Trap And Achieve USD15,000 Income Per Capita By 2020.

Caretaker Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had unveiled BN’s manifesto yesterday expressing confidence in winning the next general elections with sweeping promises of cash handouts and incentives. However what is striking is the similarity between the “copycat” BN manifesto which appears to be copied straight from the PR Manifesto of Pakatan Harapan Rakyat especially on:-

Najib Should Show His Commitment Towards Fighting Corruption By Either Demanding The Resignation Of Sarawak Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud Or Else He Might As Well Abolish The MACC.(en/bm/cn)

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 6.4.2013.

Caretaker Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak should show his commitment towards fighting corruption by either demanding the resignation of Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud or else abolish the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). This follows the shocking comments by Abdul Taib that “the MACC don’t deserve my cooperation because they have been naughty… and they have not been honest”.

The Sarawak Chief Minister even characterized investigation by MACC against him for graft as “victimisation”, Abdul Taib should show proof of such “victimization” by MACC. Public opinion is that the Sarawak Chief Minister has been “shielded” by MACC rather than victimized by being given especially lenient treatment.

Attorney-General opposes Penang state government’s application for leave to allow 1.6 milion Penangites to choose their own councillors proves again that BN opposes local government elections and democracy.

The Attorney General’s Chambers, representing Najib’s Government, turned up to the Federal Court to object to the leave application of the State Government of Penang and former Aliran President Mr P Ramakrishnan Both of us are petitioning the Federal Court to declare that Penang State Legislature has the right to allow the voters of Penang to elect their local councillors, in accordance with the Local Government Elections (Penang Island and Province Wellesley) Enactment 2012, which was passed by the State Assembly in May 2012.

No Matter How Clever Teng Chang Yeow Is In Playing His Games Of Political Deception, He Can Not Run Away From The Fact That He Sees Himself As UMNO’s Representative And Not The People’s Representative(en/bm/cn)

Press Statement By Penang Chief Minister And DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng In Komtar, George Town On 2.4.2013.

No Matter How Clever Teng Chang Yeow Is In Playing His Games Of Political Deception, He Can Not Run Away From The Fact That He Sees Himself As UMNO’s Representative And Not The People’s Representative, Which Is Contrary To The Principle That The Penang Chief Minister Must Lead The People From The Front And Not From Behind UMNO.

I must confess that have I been deceived by BN Penang Chairman Teng Chang Yeow in his political games of challenging me to a contest between both of us in Padang Kota . Clearly Teng’s statements yesterday showed that he had no intention of honouring his challenge to me. This is despite the fact that I had accepted his ridiculous condition that I contest only a state seat and give up contesting a parliamentary seat, as is required of me as DAP Secretary-General leading my party nationally.

There were 3 reasons why I was drawn into Teng’s political deception. One he had issued the challenge to me first. If he now denies it, why did he set the ridiculous condition that I contest only a state seat, which I had immediately accepted. For Teng to claim that he had not issued the challenge first shows he lacks even the courage to admit that.
