Speech By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng During The DAP Sarawak 18th State Annual Convention In Sibu On 30.10.2016 Read Out By DAP National Vice-Chairman Chong Chien Jen.
DAP is proud to be the authentic and genuine pro-Sarawak political party to consistently defend, preserve and promote the rights of Sarawakians against the onslaught of BN in encroaching on the constitutional status of Sarawak. This principled stand on behalf of Sarawakians is proudly amplified by DAP leader Lim Kit Siang, leading DAP MPs to vote against the 1976 amendments to Article 1(2) of the Federal Constitution, which diluted, diminished and reduced the historic role of Sarawak in forming Malaysia.
The 1976 Federal Constitution amendments had downgraded the status of Sarawak from being an equal partner with Sabah, Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia to being a mere one of the 14 states comprising the Malaysian Federation. To reverse the downgrade of Sarawak’s status, Article 1(2) of the Federal Constitution must be amended back its original status to restore the rightful position of both Sabah and Sarawak that was agreed upon in 1963. DAP Deepavali Message by DAP Secretary-General And Bagan MP Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 29 October 2016
DAP wishes to extend Deepavali greetings to all Malaysian Hindus. At the same time, we wish to reiterate our deepest condolences to the families of the 6 victims of the Johor’s Sultanah Aminah Hospital, who died during a tragic fire at the Intensive Care Unit on 25 October 2016. DAP also wishes to extend our sympathies to Selangor residents celebrating Deepavali without water supply following sabotage of the water sources by traitorous criminals out to harm the health of the people.
Further the rise in cooking oil prices have caused a shortage of cooking oil, showing how Malaysians continue to suffer from the negative impact of the RM52 billion 1MDB and RM4.2 billion donation scandals. BN Federal Ministers are ridiculous to say that the cooking oil shortage would allow us to eat less cooking oil and thus stay healthy. Continue reading “DAP Deepavali Message by DAP(e/c)”
The Penang State Government 2017 Deepavali Message By Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng In Komtar, George Town On 27.10.2016.
Promise Of Economic Prosperity Of Ordinary Malaysians Hijacked By RM52 Billion 1MDB And RM4.2 Billion Donation Scandals As Well As The Imposition of GST.
The Penang state government wishes all Hindus a Happy Deepavali, Unfortunately this year’s celebrations have been affected by the shortage of cooking oil caused by the removal of cooking oil subsidies. Cooking oil prices will rise just like other basic commodities and services such as toll rates.
The promise of economic prosperity of ordinary Malaysians hijacked by RM52 billion 1MDB and RM4.2 billion donation scandals as well as the imposition of GST. Unfortunately this fact has been covered up not just by acts of racism and religious extremism but also with lies of economic non-performance against the Penang state government.
First, it is untrue that investors have fled or reduced their investment in Penang. For the comparative 8-year period from 2008-15 compared to 2000-7, Penang’s manufacturing investment increased by 87% to RM54.9 billion from RM24.9 billion, with job creation increased by 17 % to 128,317 job opportunities from 106,583. Unemployment rate for Penang is one of the lowest in the country at 1.6% creating a shortage of 20,000 workers.
SPEECH BY YAB CHIEF MINISTER OF PENANG AT REHDA 42nd ANNUAL DINNER ON 24TH OCTOBER 2016 AT G HOTEL
I wish to congratulate the organizing committee for the excellent manner in organizing REHDA’s 42nd Annual Dinner Celebration.
2. We are aware of the current unfavourable economic situation and the state government is working closely with REHDA to resolve the challenges faced by the industry whereby a series of meetings together with other stakeholders have been held by EXCO for Town & Country Planning and Housing to consider all views put forward. Towards this end, the following has been achieved in order to cushion the unfavourable economic impact upon developers:
(a) First, the use of corporate guarantees to replace bank guarantees given by developers for various contributions and charges, which has been extended from previously contributions of: (i) rezoning land value increase; (ii) additional density / plot ratio; (iii) contribution in-lieu of physical development of low and low medium cost housing and (iv) contribution of the North Coast Road development under MBPP, now to all other contributions whereby the total sum is more RM500,000.00; Continue reading “Speech By CM At REHDA 42nd Annual Dinner (e/c)”
Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 20.10.2016.
DAP condemns BN for removing cooking oil subsidies that will cause 1 litre of cooking oil to increase by 40 cents and 5 litres cooking oil by RM 1.90. This increase in prices for a basic commodity will only add on to the financial burden of ordinary Malaysians, already hard hit by rising prices and poor business, caused by the imposition of GST.
If not for the imposition of GST, the removal of cooking oil subsidies will not pose such a big problem for poor families. However, the removal of cooking oil subsidies without removing GST, will only widen income inequality and make the poor worse off.

Press Statement By Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng In Komtar, George Town On 9.10.2016.
1. The Penang state government regrets the false claims by irresponsible elements, that Penang’s economy is in crisis because of factory closures and mass retrenchments. Nothing could be further from the truth. For the comparative 8-year period from 2008-16 compared to 2000-7, Penang’s manufacturing investment increased by 87% to RM54.9 billion from RM24.9 billion with job creation increased by 17 % to 128,317 job opportunities from 106,583.
2. As such, Penang still faces a shortage of workers of at least 20,000 and has one of the lowest unemployment rate in the country at 1.5%, as compared to the national unemployment rate to 3.1%. In the manufacturing sector, factory closures and new factory openings, retrenchments and job gains, are part of the industry. At the end of the day, Penang has more factory openings than closures, more job gains than retrenchments. Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 6.10.2016.
DAP Does Not Oppose The Principle of Political Funding Reforms But Yet Cannot Fully Support The Proposed Reforms Because It Legitimatises Money Politics As Well As Whitewash The RM53 Billion 1MDB Scandal And The RM4.2 Billion Donation Scandal By Absolving BN From All Responsibility.
DAP does not oppose the proposed political funding reforms by the National Consultative Committee on Political Financing (NCCPF) led by federal minister Paul Low but finds it difficult to support what is seen as a political gimmick, which does not contribute to greater transparency on the income and expenditure of political parties to check money politics.
