The BN Federal Government Should Abide By International Laws On Treatment Of Prisoners And On Humanitarian Grounds, Provide Imprisoned Hindraf Leader P Uthayakumar Full Medical Treatment And Facilities To Assure His Family That He Will Not Be Stricken By Paralysis.

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 21.7.2013.

The BN Federal government should abide by international laws on treatment of prisoners and on humanitarian grounds, provide imprisoned Hindraf leader P Uthayakumar full medical treatment and facilities to assure his family that he will not be stricken by paralysis. Uthayakumar’s wife, S Indra Devi had said that her husband is suffering from prolapsed disc, a degenerative disc disease of the spinal lumbar, which causes severe back pains.

As a former prisoner in Kajang Prison, I felt sad when S Indra Devi said that “Despite four doctors saying what is happening to Uthayakumar, they have refused to give him a pillow and a chair as advised by the doctors. He is sleeping on the floor with a very thin foam mattress and is in constant pain.” This is familiar to what I had endured when I Continue reading “The BN Federal Government Should Abide By International Laws On Treatment Of Prisoners And On Humanitarian Grounds, Provide Imprisoned Hindraf Leader P Uthayakumar Full Medical Treatment And Facilities To Assure His Family That He Will Not Be Stricken By Paralysis.”

The Refusal By The Attorney-General Chambers(AGC) To Prosecute Ibrahim Ali And Zulkifli Noordin Has The Effect Of Allowing Racist And Extremist Ministers Like Abdul Rahman Dahlan To “Come Out From The Closet” And Openly Condone Ibrahim Ali’s Right To Burn The Bible Or Zulkifli’s Anti-Hindu Insults.(en/cn)

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 20.7.2013.

The refusal by the Attorney-General’s Chambers(AGC) to prosecute Perkasa President Ibrahim Ali and UMNO parliamentary candidate for Shah Alam Zulkifli Noordin has the effect of allowing racist and extremist ministers like Abdul Rahman Dahlan to “come out from the closet” and openly condone Ibrahim Ali’s right to burn the Bible or Zulkifli’s anti-Hindu insults. With the UMNO party elections at the end of the year, Malaysians can expect more UMNO leaders like Abdul Rahman to “come out of the closet” to reveal their political orientation as racist and extremists.

DAP supports action taken against the young Alvivi couple but demands similar action against Ibrahim Ali and Zulkifli Noordin. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar had said that the police had submitted its probe on Perkasa vice-president Zulkifli Nordin’s alleged insult of Hinduism to the AGC but was ordered by AGC to cease investigation due to lack of evidence. As for Ibrahim Ali’s threat to burn the Bible, the police has yet to receive any word from the AGC.

Adakah Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak Bercakap Bohong (bm/cn)

Kenyataan Akhbar Ketua Menteri Pulau Pinang Lim Guan Eng Di Komtar, George Town Pada 19.7.2013.

Adakah Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak Bercakap Bohong Dan Bolehkah Beliau Memenuhi “Janji Ditepati” Dengan Memindahkan Depot Tahanan Imigresen Juru Dan Janji Pilihanraya Lain Untuk KADUN Bukit Tengah Dalam Belanjawan 2014 Akhir Tahun Ini?

The Cabinet Must Repudiate Abdul Rahman Dahlan’s Racist And Extremist Support for Perkasa Ibrahim Ali’s Right To Burn The Bible Or Else Be Tarred As A Cabinet That Fails To Represent All Malaysians.(en/bm/cn)

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 19.7.2013.

The Cabinet must repudiate Urban Wellbeing, Housing And Local Government Minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan’s racist and extremist support for Perkasa President Ibrahim Ali’s right to burn the Bible or else be tarred as a cabinet that fails to represent all Malaysians. Abdul Rahman had said that Ibrahim had already explained that his remark was merely to correct the error of printing the said bibles, and burning them was the proper thing to do just as Muslims burn copies of the Quran that have misprints.

This is a shocking statement. How can it be proper for a racist and extremist like Ibrahim to burn the Bible as an act of correcting the Bible? Just as non-Muslims should not be allowed to burn holy books of other religions, Ibrahim Ali should not be allowed to burn the Bible especially when this is done as a protest against Christianity.

By Depriving And Destroying The Future Of Our Top Students, Malaysia Is Also Destroying The Future Of Excellence And Malaysia’s Hope Of Being A High-Income Nation.(en/bm/cn)

Points Made By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng During The DAP CEC Meeting In Kuala Lumpur On 16.7.2013.

DAP must focus on providing a clear alternative vision for economic growth and prosperity that can be enjoyed by all Malaysians instead of being distracted by the nefarious lies employed by UMNO to divide Malaysians through fear and hatred. As a social democratic movement, DAP has always given priority to policies of social protection especially on health, education and welfare assistance for the poorer sections of society.

However such social protection policies can neither be funded nor sustained if it is not underpinned by policies that encourage growth and prosperity. For this reason, overcoming inequality alone may not generate growth. There is no doubt that growth is dependant on certain basic prerequisites of respect for the rule of law, transparency and accountability, less cumbersome red-tape and regulations, good and clean governance as well as a ready supply of human talent from a quality education system. This will be the model followed by DAP

Bank Negara Should Restore The Property Loan Period For First Time Buyers To 45 Years Which Banks Must Offer, As Well As Focus On Capping Car Loans To Reduce Household Debt At 83% of GDP Is 2nd Highest In Asia.(en/bm/cn)

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 16.7.2013.

DAP calls on Bank Negara to restore the property loan period for first time buyers to a maximum of 45 years which banks must offer, as well as focus on capping car loans to reduce household debt at 83% of GDP is the 2nd highest in Asia. Whilst Bank Negara may feel that imposition of more stringent guidelines on household loans, is necessary to bring down household debt, focus should be on car and not housing loans.

Bank Negara Governor Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz had said that in comparison, Thailand’s household debt ratio stands at 30%, Indonesia at 15.8%, Hong Kong at 58%, Taiwan at 82%, Japan at 75% and Singapore at 67%. Only the United States at 91.7%, United Kingdom at 114%, Australia at 113%, New Zealand at 91%, and South Korea at 91% have higher household debt to GDP.

Menteri Kesihatan
Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia
Blok E1, E6, E7 & E10

Pusat Pentadbiran Kerajaan Persekutuan

YB Datuk Seri Dr.,

After 56 Years Of Merdeka, Time For All Political Parties And The Education Ministry Not To Focus On Race But On Why Qualified Students Cannot Get Places In Local Universities On Merit.(en/bm/cn)

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 15.7.2013.

After 56 Years of Merdeka, the time has come for all political parties and the Education Ministry not to focus on race but on why qualified students cannot get places in local public universities on merit. Depriving qualified students, including those with a CGPA of the maximum 4.0 from places in public universities, is not only a waste of top talent but will serve to drive away our best and brightest overseas.

This will only exacerbate the brain drain, make it harder for Talent Corporation to generate a brain gain and make it easier for other countries like Singapore to happily snatch away our crème de la crème. The Education Ministry must stop such short-sighted policies that will only cause Malaysia to lose out but also mental anguish annually to our young who are deprived of their future. How can we prepare the young for the future or the future for our young when we permit such painful injustice?

DAP does not agree with the annual national obsession on race profiling by both MCA and MIC. Datuk Seri Dr. Hilmi Yahaya Harus Jelaskan Adakah Peningkatan Perkhidmatan Accident & Emergency(A&E) dan Forensik Di Hospital Balik Pulau Bernilai RM20 Juta Ataupun Melibatkan Blok Dan Pusat Rawatan Kanser Yang Baru?(bm/cn)

DAP Offers To Work With The BN Federal Government By Uniting All Malaysians Around Fighting Corruption Instead Of Dividing Malaysians With Hate And Lies About Race And Religion.(en/cn)

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Petaling Jaya On 13.7.2013.

DAP offers to work with the BN federal government by uniting all Malaysians around fighting corruption instead of dividing Malaysians with hate and lies about race and religion. DAP is making this offer in the national interest following the latest survey by Transparency International (TI), which showed that Malaysians were losing faith in the government’s effort to fight graft.

Police and political parties were perceived to be the two most corrupted institutions, with police hit the corruption scale at 4.0 while political parties registered 3.8 with 5 being extremely corrupt. According to the latest March 2013 Transparency International-Malaysia’s (TI-M) Global Corruption Barometer (GCB), only 31 percent of respondents thought the government had been effective in fighting corruption, down from 49 percent in 2011.

Official Launching of UBAH inflatable bird (Water Ubah) at 10am, 13 July, at IJM Promenade.

Facts about UBAH inflatable bird (Water Ubah)
Burung kenyalang or the hornbill is a native bird from Sarawak and one of the most recognisable local animals. DAP had adopted this bird as a symbol of change both for its unique characteristics, hardiness and representation of the integration of both East Malaysia and Peninsular Malaysia into a Malaysian nation. Designed by Ooi Leng Hang for the general elections, Ubah has moved beyond the political realm and became a very well-loved for all Malaysians.

The UBAH bird is inflatable is made of high quality PVC and weighs about 250kg. It’s body thickness is 0.35mm while the life buoy is 0.7mm thick. This 25ft high and 36ft wide UBAH bird and was conceptualised by DAP supporters and sponsors after the success of the world famous yellow rubber duck in Hong Kong. Perdana Menteri Tidak Harus Sekali Lagi Memungkiri Janji Pilihanraya Kepada Rakyat Pulau Pinang (bm/cn)

Kenyataan Akhbar Daripada Ketua Menteri Pulau Pinang Dan Ahli Parlimen Kawasan Bagan Lim Guan Eng Di Komtar, George Town Pada 11.7.2013.

Perdana Menteri Tidak Harus Sekali Lagi Memungkiri Janji Pilihanraya Kepada Rakyat Pulau Pinang Sepertimana Yang Berlaku Atas Janji Memansuhkan Akta Hasutan Dengan Menggantikannya Dengan Akta Harmoni Negara Yang Baru Yang Merupakan Janji Tidak Ditepati.

Where Is The Logic Of The Home Minister That The Royal Commission Of Inquiry Into PDRM, Is Making An Unconstitutional Proposal Of Setting Up An Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC), When Its Chairman Tun Mohamed Dzaiddin Bin Haji Abdullah Was The 9th Chief Justice Of Malaysia?(en/bm/cn)

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Petaling Jaya On 10.7.2013.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi continues to surprise Malaysians with his reckless claims and perverse logic that establishing the IPCMC will result in overlapping jurisdictions and laws among the county’s enforcement agencies, as well as being unconstitutional and contrary to the concept of justice. Where is the logic of the Home Minister that the Royal Commission Of Inquiry into PDRM, is making an unconstitutional proposal of setting up an IPCMC, when its chairman Tun Mohamed Dzaiddin Bin Haji Abdullah was the 9thChief Justice of Malaysia?

This is the first time since the recommendations were first made in 2005 that the IPCMC has been declared unconstitutional by the BN Federal government as a flimsy excuse for rejecting its establishment. Zahid’s wild claim is a slur on the reputation of the highest judge in Malaysia and questions his basic legal competency in making an unconstitutional proposal.
