DAP will direct its 3 Selangor State EXCO Members and Selangor State Speaker to publicly declare their personal assets to fulfill DAP general election commitment towards transparency accountability and integrity. DAP 3 EXCO members are Teng Chang Khim, Ean Yong Hian Wah and Ganapathi Rao whereas the Selangor State Speaker is Hannah Yeoh.
Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim announced yesterday that he will not direct its Selangor state EXCO members to publicly declare their assets acquired before being appointed as State EXCO members due to concerns of the personal security and safety of the EXCO members and their families. Tan Sri Abdul Khalid said that the refusal to publicly declare their assets was motivated by the fears of some EXCO members that their personal safety and that of their families may be compromised, if their substantial assets they held before being appointed as State EXCO members were publicly known.

An independent inquiry should be carried out on the shameful rape of a handball athlete in the Sukma 2013 in Universiti Putra Malaysia(UPM) to ensure female athletes are safe and that there will no repeat of such shameful incidents or else Penang may reconsider sending female athletes to future sukma games
There have been complaints of lax security in the grounds of the female hostel despite assurances by the Ministry and SUKMA games organisers that security was adequate. Clearly security is lax until such a shameful sexual crime can happen. Such a crime has not only smeared the image of the SUKMA Games but also Malaysia’s international sporting reputation.

DOSH must conduct a speedy conclusion by next week to the collapse of the Penang UMNO building tower, which caused 2 deaths similar to the ramp of the Penang 2nd Bridge caused by contractor’s negligence which resulted in the loss of one life. DOSH Director general Datuk Dr Johari Basri said last week that DOSH’s investigations into the collapse of the second Penang Bridge ramp has indicated “shortcomings” due to negligence by the contractor, involving both “procedural and technical” aspects.
He even said that DOSH is preparing to file charges and are discussing it with the public prosecutor to get consent. MPPP had issued a stop-work order over the entire span of the 2nd Bridge, estimated to cost RM 3 billion with a total length of 24 km, until a full safety audit has been conducted to ensure that it is not in danger of collapse.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s refusal to support the abolition of the 1948 Sedition Act is not only open defiance of the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s promise but also a betrayal of BN’s general election slogan of “A Promise Fulfilled”. In July last year, Najib had announced that the Sedition Act would be replaced with a National Harmony Act, after repealing the Internal Security Act and the Emergency Ordinance.
Such defiance by Ahmad Zahid is unacceptable. Datuk Seri Najib must provide certainty and clarity that he is committed to abolishing the Sedition Act by demanding that Zahid toe the line, reverse his stand and support the abolition. Or else Zahid should resign from Cabinet. Failing which, Najib should explain to the people why he is breaking BN’s promise and betrayed the voters by not fulfilling his pledge to abolish the Sedition Act.
Zahid claimed that the abolishment of the Sedition Act would mean that there was no law to regulate offenses such as seditious content, slander, accusation or condemnation. This is not only wrong but also ridiculous as there are criminal provisions in the Penal Code and civil defamation action to deal with such offenses.

Penang Will Support Kedah’s Efforts To Seek Federal Funds To Help Conserve The Muda River Basin And Water Catchment Areas.
Penang will support Kedah State Government’s efforts to seek federal funds to help conserve the Muda River Basin and water catchment areas for the benefit of three states – Kedah, Penang and Perlis. We should be clear that the Muda River does not only benefit Penang. Kedah also draws water from the river for their water supply and irrigation needs. The Muda River is also an important water source for the southern area of Perlis.
As such, the preservation of the Ulu Muda catchment in Kedah is a federal issue because it involves three states’ water supply as well as the conservation of a natural forest area for the benefit of all Malaysians. As noted on the Friends of Ulu Muda (FoUM) website (saveulumuda.com), the catchments in Ulu Muda, which cover an area of 160,000 hectares, has been under threat by prospect of logging since 2002, as well as forest conversions, illegal and unregulated extraction of forest resources and unsustainable tourism development. As such it has been recommended that:-

There should be an immediate release and restoration of democratically elected Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi. The forcible removal of the democratically elected President is a naked coup d’etat by the military that violates the popular will of the majority of Egyptians who had given Morsi a popular mandate of 52% in free elections last year.
DAP expresses surprise that so-called defenders of democracy like Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, not only justifies the military coup d’etat but warns that change is dangerous and brings about instability as well as affect economic progress. Democracy is the best form of government to prevent corruption and violation of basic human rights. Economic prosperity and reducing income inequality can only be achieved by ensuring increasing transparency, accountability and competency as well freedom instead of choosing cronies, practicing nepotism and oppression.

ADMINISTRATION OF THE RELIGION OF ISLAM (FEDERAL TERRITORIES) BILL 2013 – PAS Selangor Is More Moderate Than BN, UMNO And Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyidin Yassin By Declaring That Conversion Of Children Below 18 Requires Consent Of Both Parents And Not One Parent.
DAP opposes any unilateral conversion of children by a single parent to any religion whether it is Christianity, Islam, Buddhism or Hinduism. DAP position is that both parents’ consent must be obtained for a legally valid religious conversion for children under 18 as provided for under Article 12(4) of the Federal Constitution.
PAS Selangor is more moderate than BN, UMNO and Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyidin Yassin by declaring that conversion of children below 18 requires consent of both parents and not one parent. Selangor PAS commissioner Dr Abd Rani Osman opposed unilateral child conversions to Islam, saying such a “big” decision needed the consent of both parents.
