槟州首席部长、民主行动党秘书长兼峇眼区国会议员林冠英于2016年12月16日在吉隆坡发表的声明： 我在本周三（2016年12月14日），就马华知知丁宜州议员许福光，在玻璃市州立法议会通过2016年（修正）伊斯兰法行政法案时选择放弃投票权利一事，发表声明，要求无法捍卫世俗体制、没有兑现承诺的马华总会长廖中莱，若有原则，应该辞职谢罪。 唯，从12月15日至 16日，我的声明并没有获得《星洲日报》或《光明日报》的采用。尽管媒体编采人员有权筛选有意刊登的内容，但让人感到遗憾的是，就同一课题，马华陈德钦所发表的声明，却获得这两家媒体的刊登（分别刊登于今日PP08版及B6版）。 此举证明了上述两家媒体，与《马来前锋报》已没有什么分别，只选择录用对国阵有利、攻击反对党的新闻，却选择不采用行动党领袖的文告。 当然我不会像对待《马来前锋报》般的态度来对待这两家华文媒体，但我也在此说明，每一个人的容忍度都是有底线的，特别是对于助纣为虐之辈。要强调的是，这已不是这些媒体第一次在不刊登我的文告的同时，却刊登攻击我的文告。 这将是我最后一次针对类似偏差待遇而发表的声明。 林冠英

民主行动党秘书长兼峇眼区国会议员林冠英于2016年12月14日在吉隆坡发表文告： 作为马华“中央之首”的廖中莱，之前言之凿凿地强调，身为马华总会长，他将不惜一切保护我国的中庸治国理念及多元体系，这是其责任，官职并不重要，重要的是维护宪法的根基。现在，许福光没有尽全力捍卫马华的价值，而就这起事件上，马华也只是给予警告而已。我们要问的是，那下次在国会通过断肢法时，廖中莱是不是也仅仅被警告而已？廖中莱明显的并没有兑现自己的承诺，无法捍卫世俗体制，若廖总会长有原则，应该辞职谢罪。
