槟州首席部长林冠英于2018年1月21日在乔治市发表文告： 去年11月4日及5日的风灾与水灾已过两个多月，槟州23所受灾学校却仅能靠民间团体和善长仁翁的捐助进行修复工程，联邦政府至今分文未拨。 受影响的23所学校中尚有一部分因受损情况严重，目前还在进行修复工作。这些学校所申请的维修总数超过348万令吉，不过，基于资源有限，州政府在去年12月21日只发放《光华日报风雨献真情》的130万令吉及首长特别拨款4万令吉给相关学校，这也意味着受灾学校尚欠214万令吉。 槟州在去年面对风灾与水灾的肆虐，可怕的情景至今历历在目。然而，天灾无情，人间有情，继《光华日报风雨献真情》的130万令吉（另有4万令吉的首长特别拨款），槟州政府再次受委托将代为发放23万令吉风灾与水灾援助金给受灾的华校。有关申请即日起开放，截止日期为本月26日。
