槟州首席部长林冠英于2013年10月14日在吉隆坡发表声明： 槟首长林冠英促请方天兴勿再“挂羊头，卖狗肉”，滥用华总平台行维护马华政治利益之实，让华总最终沦为国阵工具，辜负华社的期许。 ____________________________________________________ 华总总会长方天兴在被揭穿后，毫不隐瞒地承认自己是马华党员，并三番四次地以总会长身份对马华的政治利益深表关切，这种直接或间接把华总与马华挂钩的做法，委实叫人感到失望。 我促请方天兴勿再“挂羊头，卖狗肉”，滥用华总平台行维护马华政治利益之实，让华总最终沦为国阵工具，辜负华社的期许。 身为总会长，方天兴不仅没有严守领导人的基本守则来进行利益回避，让华总秉持“不超越政治，但超然于政党之上”的立场，反而一而再地以“华社领袖”的姿态一面倒倾靠马华，难不成，这就是他所谓对华总、华社的“公平”？

民主行动党秘书长兼峇眼区国会议员林冠英于2013年10月12日在吉隆坡发表声明： 发展高速廉宜宽频网络 人民摆脱中等收入陷阱 – 马来西亚须提升全球资讯工艺发展指数（IDI）59名至前30名 对于近来通讯及多媒体部长阿末沙比里对总稽查司批评青年与体育部在去年百万青年日韩星表演的事情做出激烈反应时，我在此提醒阿末沙比里要专注履行通讯及多媒体部长的职责，正视我国宽频网路速度与素质问题。 联合国旗下机构国际电信联盟（ITU）在美国纽约发布《2013年资讯社会分析》（2013 edition of Measuring the Information Society）报告，显示马来西亚在资讯工艺ICT发展指数（IDI）从去年世界第57下跌至第59。该报告指出，同在亚洲的韩国排名世界第一，香港（10）、澳门（14）与新加坡（15）名列前20名，而邻国汶莱处于第58名。
