Press Statement by DAP Secretary-General and MP for Bagan Lim Guan Eng in Kuala Lumpur on 7.9.2012.
The Home Minister Must Apologise For the Police Harsh And Heavy-handed Treatment Of 19-Year old Kids With Handcuffs Merely For Stamping On The Pictures Of The Prime Minster Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak When Even BN Leaders Charged For Corruption Were Not Handcuffed.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak should show he has got a big heart by not just forgiving the teenagers who have apologised for stamping on his picture but also stop the high-handed and severe punishment of them as if they had committed some heinous crime of murder, armed robbery and rape. Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hussein Onn must apologise for the police’s harsh and heavy-handed treatment including a 19-year old girl with handcuffs merely for stamping on the pictures of the Prime Minster Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak when even BN leaders charged for corruption were not handcuffed.
Malaysians are outraged by the handcuffs placed on the kids which included 19 year-old girl who voluntarily surrendered. Handcuffs are not usually required unless the accused is violent, or has committed a crime of violence, or may attempt to escape. In this case, handcuffing a young girl who had voluntarily surrendered is nothing but an abuse of power and an act of humiliation.

Malaysia’s drop in the Global Competitiveness Index 2012-2013 to 25th spot from 21st last year is not only simply a failure of the Prime Minister Dato Seri Najib Tun Razak’s Economic Transformation Programme(ETP) but also a failure in technological readiness, fighting crime and building human capital formation.
In Jakarta, the City Mayor has just announced free wifi would be available on main roads and highways. As digital intelligence is of critical importance in the internet connected world, providing free wifi in public places would provide a much needed boost. There is no reason why free wifi in public places can not be done throughout Malaysia, if it can be implemented in Penang Or is Malaysia going to be behind not just Jakarta but also Indonesia eventually?

Press Statement By Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng In Komtar, George Town On 5.9.2012.
Can Teng Chang Yeow Justify The Cheap Sale Of Over 2,000 Acres of State Land Such As 980 Acres In Tanjung Tokong At RM 1 Per Square Foot, 325 Acres Of Jelutong Expressway Reclaimed Land At RM 20 Per Square Foot And 750 Acres Of Batu Kawan Land At Between RM3.05 To RM4 Per Square Foot?
BN claims to have letters dated July 2003 indicating that the BN state exco had given the go-ahead for the second phase of the low cost housing on the 1.1 acre piece of land in Taman Manggis. BN has to explain why:-

Penang BN Chairman Teng Chang Yeow must explain why 2 UMNO leaders who claim to defend the rights of the Malays chose to profit as land brokers but refused to share their RM 5 million profits, earned within a mere three and a half months, with the 31 Malay landowners. Today, Teng has chosen to defend both Umno Penang deputy chairman Dato Musa Sheikh Fadzir and BN Penang general election strategy director Dato Omar Faudza for profiting RM 5 million from sale of land owned by 31 Malay landonwers in Kampung Terang, Balik Pulau, as a private business transaction.
Teng clearly forgets that as political leaders, public interest demands that the private business transactions of these 2 UMNO leaders must also conform with their public political positions. Is this how UMNO leaders defend the rights of Malay landowners by buying their land cheap and then selling it high, pocketing 100% the profits from the sale? I regret that Musa has refused to explain why he refused to share the RM 5 million profit with the 31 Malay landowners and instead behaved emotionally and irrationally by attacking me as a racist for bringing up this issue of public interest.

BN Practices Selective Prosecution, Double Standards And Even Outright Racism By Not Taking Court Action Against Extremist Perkasa Members Who Burnt Or Stepped On My Portrait Outside My Office In Komtar And Even Performed Funeral Rites On My Portrait Outside My House.
DAP strongly disapproves the act of a few individuals who stepped on pictures of Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Najib Tun Razak in Dataran Merdeka during the Merdeka eve celebration in Kuala Lumpur. However, if Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein can promise that the Home Ministry will act decisively and expedite the legal process on the perpetrators of the provocative act, will the same action be taken against BN supporters who commit such acts on pictures of PR leaders?

Press Statement On 3 September 2012 By Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng In Komtar, George Town.
PR Penang Land Sales Is Nothing Compared To BN Government Land Sales Of 980 Acres Sold In Tanjung Tokong, 325 Acres Sold Near Jelutong Expressway And 750 Acres In Batu Kawan Sold To Abad Naluri Sdn Bhd.
Penang BN has acted dishonourably with lies and threats against PR state government. Whilst PR state government will not submit to wild threats by BN and Perkasa, we want to expose the lies by BN that demonstrates the huge disparity between land sales by BN and PR.
BN Penang is making a mountain out of a molehill on the sale of 1.1 acres of land in Jalan Zainal Abidin. However PR Penang state government land sales is nothing compared to BN government land sales of 980 acres sold in Tanjung Tokong, 325 acres sold near Jelutong Expressway and 750 acres in Batu Kawan sold to Abad Naluri Sdn Bhd.
