DAP Will Establish “Ubah Networks” Overseas To Reach Out And Articulate The Concerns Of Overseas Malaysians, Appoint DAP Vice-Chair Teresa Kok As Selangor Government Political Liasion Officer, And The 3 Selangor State Government PR Leadership Council Members for DAP Are Tony Pua, Teng Chang Khim And Gobind Singh Deo.

This was decided at the DAP Central Executive Committee meeting on 5 June 2013.

The meeting focused on the relentless attacks by the Registrar of Society(ROS) in complicity with the BN-controlled media especially New Straits Times and Utusan Malaysia to demonise the DAP with lies of irregularities and illegalities in DAP’s National Congress to set the ground for deregistering the DAP. The DAP CEC unreservedly condemns BN for framing up a lie that no notice was sent to over 700 delegates when all notices were sent.

BN Fully Responsible Over Widening Polarisation Between The Majority 51% Malaysians Behind PR And BN, With The Abuse Of Powers By Registrar Of Society, Police, Immigration Department, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission & Election Commission To Benefit BN Over Public Interests.(en/bm/cn)

Press Statement by DAP Secretary-General and MP for Bagan Lim Guan Eng in Kuala Lumpur on 1.6.2013.

BN is fully responsible over widening polarisation between the majority 51% Malaysians behind PR and BN with the abuse of powers by Registrar Of Society(ROS), Police, Immigration Department, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission & Election Commission to benefit BN over public interests. The latest action by ROS against DAP implying possible deregistration and Immigration Department’s ban of Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah from entering Sabah shows that BN is willing to abuse its powers with lies and false charges. Such oppression and injustice is divisive and will not help national reconciliation but instead harm national unity.

DAP condemns Registrar of Societies (ROS) director Abdul Rahman Othman for making outright lies that over 700 DAP delegates were denied their right to vote during the party National Congress last year, because they were not notified. I have never seen a senior government servant openly lie without any sense of shame when ROS had written to us to demand evidence of notices to four DAP branches to attend the party congress – Taman Sri Sungai Pelek in Selangor, Taman Nesa in Skudai, Johor, Desa Dahlia in Seremban and Ladang Paroi, also in Negri Sembilan.

PR Winning 51% Of The Popular Vote Yet Only 40% Of The Parliamentary Seats Cries Out For Genuine Polls Reforms That Respects The One-Man, One-Vote Principle To Save Democracy.(en/bm/cn)

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 9.5.2013.

DAP is not surprised that MCA and Gerakan are behaving in a childish manner by petulantly closing down their service centers in retaliation for the devastating defeats in the recent general elections. MCA was left with 7 parliamentary seats whilst Gerakan had only 1 parliamentary seat. Such a reaction by Gerakan and MCA losing in the general elections is akin to a child throwing tantrum for not getting what he or she wants.

Carrying out threats of closing down service centers will not impress voters, whether Chinese, Indians or Malays who had already dismissed them as irrelevant and had already made up their minds to reject BN. This is indicated by PR winning the popular vote of 51% compared to BN’s 47.4%, the first time that an opposition coalition had won more than 50% of the popular vote(see below).

PR Penang State Government 2.0 Shall Be Competent, Clean And Fair To All Regardless Of Race, Religion And Most Important Of All Those Who Supported BN.(en/bm/cn)

Press Conference Statement by Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng After The Swearing-In Ceremony By Penang Governor At Sri Mutiara, Penang on 7.5.2013

We are extremely grateful to the people of Penang not only for proving that Penangites can neither be bought by the blatant and shameless money politics nor threatened with violence that had occurred in the last few days of the GE13 campaign in Penang. Clearly Penangites valued a government that performed and delivered over the last 5 years much more than those who only appeared during the last 5 days of the campaign to buy votes or threaten voters.

We are humbled and thank the people of Penang for their support. Just as we have delivered in the previous 5 years, we shall continue to do so for the next 5 years in preparing not only the future for the young but preparing the young for the future. We are prepared to build upon our successes to make Penang Cleaner, Greener, Safer and Healthier than ever.

The 95% That PAS And DAP Are In Agreement Are Embodied In The PR Manifesto(Buku Jingga) And Common Policy.(en/cn)

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 30.4.2013.

The 95% That PAS And DAP Are In Agreement Are Embodied In The PR Manifesto(Buku Jingga) And Common Policy.

DAP reminds its leaders and members to be extremely cautious when speaking to the MCA-controlled Star when in its report today, the Star can even distort and lie about a written joint statement by both PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang and myself. We had stated in our statement yesterday that both DAP and PAS are 95% in agreement on common principles and policies that benefit the people.

This 95% that both PAS and DAP are in agreement are embodied in the PR Manifesto(Buku Jingga) and Common Policy. However Star reported that both DAP and PAS are only 95% in agreement with the PR Manifesto. This is untrue as both DAP and PAS are 100% fully supportive of the PR manifesto.

Sim Tong Him Has 24 Hours To Withdraw And Fully Support DAP Candidate For Kota Laksamana Lai Keun Ban Or Else He Would Have To Bear Full Responsibility For BN Winning Both Kota Laksamana State Seat And Kota Melaka Parliamentary Seat.(en/bm/cn)

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng In DAP Headquarters In Kuala Lumpur On 21.4.2013.

DAP Parliamentary candidate for Sim Tong Him has 24 hours to withdraw and fully support DAP candidate for Kota Laksamana Lai Keun Ban or else he would have to bear full responsibility for BN winning both Kota Laksamana state seat and Kota Melaka parliamentary seat. DAP national leadership have received many queries on how to vote following Sim’s shocking decision to contest for Kota Melaka parliament under DAP ticket but contest Kota Laksamana state seat as an independent. Sim is using one leg to step on two different boats at the same time.

Many are offended by this act of dishonesty by Sim in cheating the party to give him the letter of authority to contest in the Kota Melaka parliamentary seat but yet not inform the DAP national leadership that he intends to contest in the Kota Laksamana state seat as an independent. If I had known that Sim had intended to contest the Kota Laksamana state seat as an independent, I would not have signed the letter of authority as DAP Secretary-General appointing Sim as the DAP candidate to contest as the Kota Melaka parliamentary candidate.

Sim Tong Him Can Not Contest Under DAP As Parliamentary Candidate for Kota Melaka And At The Same Time As An Independent State Candidate For Kota Laksamana.(en/cn)

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng In DAP Headquarters In Kuala Lumpur On 20.4.2013.

Sim Tong Him Can Not Contest Under DAP As Parliamentary Candidate for Kota Melaka And At The Same Time As An Independent State Candidate For Kota Laksamana.

DAP urges DAP Parliamentary candidate for Kota Melaka Sim Tong Him to publicly withdraw as an independent candidate for the Kota Laksamana state seat as well as declaring full support for DAP official state candidate Lai Kuen Ban. By putting himself as an independent candidate for Kota Laksamana against Lai Kuen Ban, Sim is doing not only the party a great disservice but also set back the hopes of Melaka voters who had wanted to see a change of government in Malaysia from BN to PR.

The Penang Chief Minister Must Lead The People From The Front And Not From Behind UMNO:- I Will Contest Only One State Seat If Teng Chang Yeow Does Not Run Away But Recontest Padang Kota, Which He Previously Held For 3 Terms From 1995-2008.(en/bm/cn)

Opening Speech By Penang Chief Minister And DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng At The Official Launch Of The DAP Air Putih KADUN General Elections Operation Center In Air Putih, Penang On 31.3.3013.

BN Penang Chairman Teng Chang Yeow’s determination to run away from his own seat of Padang Kota is as clear as day following his refusal to follow up on his own challenge to face-off with me in the coming general elections. By setting new ridiculous conditions before contesting against me, Teng is clearly eating back his words of “you must pick up from where you fall” and avoid a direct contest in Padang Kota.

Such promise of “you must pick up where you fall” is meaningless if Teng refuses to show courage and ‘leadership by example’ by recontesting in his old seat of Padang Kota but instead follow UMNO’s dictates of where he can or can not go. Everyone knows that Teng as Penang BN Chairman is not Gerakan’s first choice as he is neither Gerakan President nor Penang Gerakan Chairman, but UMNO’s and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s choice.

47th DAP Anniversary Statement By DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng Released In DAP Headquarters, Kuala Lumpur on 18 March 2013

DAP celebrates the 47th anniversary of the birth of our party on 18.3.1966 for the first time in Johor, the critical new frontier that PR must win to bring about Ubah or Change. Inikalilah! It is now or never!

For the first time in our nation’s 56-year history, change is possible.
For the first time ever, Malaysians have a real alternative.
For the first time ever, there is now a clear and tangible choice between a regime that is undemocratic, corrupt, racist and bankrupt, versus one that is clean, practices integrity, values freedom and human rights and is proven to be competent, accountable and transparent.

Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak Tidak Layak Menjadi Perdana Menteri Bila Menggunakan Perkauman Dan Mempermainkan Sentimen Ekstremis Agama Dengan Fitnah Bahawa DAP Menindas Agama Islam.

Kenyataan Akhbar Setiausha-Agung DAP Dan Ahli Parlimen Bagan Lim Guan Eng Di Kuala Lumpur Pada 24.2.2013.

Penang Paradigm: Making Penang No.1 In Malaysia (en/bm/cn)

Speech by Chief Minister of Penang Lim Guan Eng at the Launch of the Penang Paradigm (2013-2023): The Framework for creating an International and Intelligent State at Town Hall, George Town on 23.2.2013.

PENANG PARADIGM – MAKING PENANG NO. 1 IN MALAYSIA

I am very pleased to be here today to launch the Penang Paradigm, which is a framework put together by the Penang Institute, under the leadership of its Executive Director, Professor Datuk Woo Wing Thye, to develop Penang as an international and intelligent state. Or to put it simply to make Penang No. 1 in Malaysia.

Allow me to start by putting on record my appreciation for the contributions of Professor Woo, who is a world-renowned economist and a former special advisor to the United States Treasury, the United Nations and the Government of China. Though Professor Woo is unique in his talents, he is at the same time merely one among hundreds of thousands of talented Penangites who were lost to our country through “brain drain” in previous decades, and who are starting to return to serve Penang since 2008, in a transformation of “brain drain” into “brain gain”.
