MAS RM2.5 Billion Raising Of Capital Guaranteed By The Federal Government Proves The Success Of BN’s Successful Cover-up Of 3Ds Of Deficit, Debt And Deceit.(en/cn)

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 31.5.2012.

MAS RM2.5 Billion Raising Of Capital Guaranteed By The Federal Government Proves The Success Of BN’s Successful Cover-up Of 3Ds Of Deficit, Debt And Deceit.

Last month, Malaysia Airlines (MAS) announced a Sukuk programme of up to RM2.5 billion to address its working capital following record losses of RM2.52 billion in 2011. One little-noticed aspect is that this raising of capital will be guaranteed by the Federal government, increasing the amount of contingent liabilities on top of already incurred debt by the Federal government of RM3456 billion as at 2011.

MAS RM2.5 billion raising of capital guaranteed by the Federal Government proves the success of BN’s successful cover-up of 3Ds Of Deficit, Debt and Deceit. BN knows that the critical issue in the coming general elections is its handling of the economy and how the people’s cost of living can be reduced and their economic livelihood increased. Tied to whether BN can help the people’s economically is its management of the Federal government’s debt and budget deficit, which some has traced to its failure to address the menace of corruption.

Proposes A RM 1 Billion Sabah Endowment Fund That Delivers 3Es Of Building Human Talent By Providing Educational Opportunities, Uplift The Economic Livelihood Of Native Sabahans And End Poverty.(en/bm/cn)

Speech By DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng In DAP Kaamatan Festival In Loyang, Kota Kinabalu On 28.5.2012.

DAP proposes a RM1 billion Sabah Endowment Fund that delivers 3Es of building human talent by providing education opportunities, uplift the economic livelihood of native Sabahans and end poverty. Sabah is amongst the richest state in Malaysia but also amongst the most corrupt state as shown by the highest poverty rate in Malaysia.

The time has come for Sabahans to be treated with respect and be allowed to live with dignity. BN has continuously failed Sabah since 1963, not just in terms of giving only 5% of oil and gas revenues but also treating Sabah and Sarawak with contempt by fixing a lower monthly minimum wage of RM800 as compared to Peninsular Malaysia’s RM900.

Number Of Stop Work Orders Prove PR Penang State Government More Stringent And Unforgiving To Developers Than BN.(en/bm/cn)

Press Statement By Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng In Komtar, George Town On 29.5.2012.

Facts have disproved BN’s claims that the Penang PR state government is the darling of developers at the expense of the public, especially those who need public housing. This can be shown by the number of stop work orders issued by both Penang Municipal Council(MPPP) and the Seberang Perai Municipal Council(MPSP) over the four years before and after 2008.

Under PR, MPPP issued 259 stop work orders from 2008 till 2012, which is nearly 7 times more than the 38 stop work orders issued for the same period between 2004-7 under BN. MPSP issued 11 stop work orders from March 2008 until 2012 May whereas not a single stop work order was issued from 2003 till March 2008.

Will PR Leaders, Including Chief Minister And Elected Representatives, Have To Be Physcially Injured And Harmed Before Any Action Is Taken To Protect Them And Ensure A Violence-Free Political Campaigning?(en/bm/cn)

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 27.5.2012.

DAP condemns the serial procession of violence over the past weeks at Pakatan Rakyat events involving PR leaders in Felda Lepar Hilir, Pahang(threatening Nurul Izzah) Sembrong, Johor(where Anwar’s car was stoned), Padang Kota Lama, Penang(where I was threatened) Merlimau(Melaka), Lembah Pantai, Pekan Bangi, Kuala Kangsar, and the most recent incident in Pengerang, Johor indicates that this elections may be the most violent in history out of BN’s desperation to retain power at all costs.

Ever since Prime Minister Dato Seri Najib Tun Razak used the famous phrase of defending Putrajaya at all costs during the UMNO General Assembly on 21.10.2010, UMNO has used the language of hate and violence. Najib infamous call that day shows how that language of violence is no longer limited to words but has degenerated into mindless and thuggish violence:-
“Even if our bodies are crushed and our lives lost, brothers and sisters, whatever happens, we must defend Putrajaya”

BN And The Attorney-General(AG) Has No Track Record Of Fairness and Justice And May Use The Evidence (Amendment) (No. 2) Act 2012 To Facilitate Selective Prosecutions of Members of the Opposition and Civil Society.(en/cn)

Press Statement by the DAP Secretary-General and MP for Bagan Lim Guan Eng, in Kuala Lumpur on 26 May 2012.

The Evidence (Amendment) (No. 2) Act 2012, which was passed in the last sitting of the Dewan Rakyat and the Dewan Negara, will make it easier for the Government to launch selective prosecutions of members of the opposition and civil society. BN and the AG has no track record of fairness and justice and may use this new law to facilitate selective prosecution of members of the opposition and civil society.

The Act, which inserted a new section 114A into the Evidence Act 1950, is part of a package of laws that includes the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012, which replaces the hated ISA, together with the Penal Code (Amendment) Act 2012 and the Criminal Procedure Code (Amendment) (No. 2) Act 2012.

UMNO Can Not Hide Nor Run Away But Must Fully Answer For The Ugly Violence In Merlimau Against 2 DAP Melaka Assemblyman That Was Intended To Threaten The Safety Of Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan.(en/cn)

Press Statement by DAP Secretary General and MP for Bagan Lim Guan Eng in Kuala Lumpur on 22.5.2012

DAP strongly condemns the violent behaviour of the unruly group of 200 people who disrupted Bersih co-chairperson Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan’s scheduled visit to the Pusat Asuhan Tunas Islam (Pasti) As-Solihin, at Jalan Batu Gajah in Merlimau, for tea between 5pm and 6.30pm two days ago.

A group of non-governmental organisations and political parties including Perkasa and the Jasin UMNO Wanita and Youth wings had earlier lodged a police report at the Merlimau police station to object Bersih co-chairman Datuk S. Ambiga’s visit to Merlimau. Following such threats against Ambiga, she cancelled her appearance at the last minute after police advised the organisers against holding it. What’s worse, the mob began pelting two DAP state assemblyman and their supporters as they began to leave the event.

2012 Mother’s Day Message (en/bm/cn)

DAP 2012 Mother’s Day Message By DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur on 12.5.2012.

Treating All Malaysians Regardless Of Race, Religions Or Gender As Our Children By Embracing Love And Rejecting Hate Will Help To Create A Malaysian Nation That Allows Everyone To Live With Dignity.

All Malaysians regardless of race, religions or gender are treated as our children by embracing love and rejecting hate, would help to create a Malaysian nation that allows everyone to live with dignity. There is deep concern that public institutions either are involved in violence or condone violence by racist and extremist organisations such as Perkasa.

All mothers reject the language and actions of violence. The path towards non-violence is to embrace love and establish a civil society

A civil society is a “shared society”, would allow Malaysians to make diversity a positive force for equal opportunity and social justice. Four elements constitute such a “shared society” — democratic participation in decision-making, respect for diversity and the dignity of an individual, equal opportunity and the prohibition of discrimination.

We must stand together to fight corruption and abuse of power because only this success will build trust, provide progress and development to the people. Then only can the people live with dignity. Our children possesses the inalienable right to live in dignity in an environment that is clean, green, safe and healthy.

Perutusan Hari Ibu oleh Setiausaha Agung DAP di Kuala Lumpur pada 12.5.2012

Menganggap Semua Rakyat Malaysia Sebagai Anak Kita Tanpa Mengira Bangsa, Agama Atau Gender Dengan Mengamalkan Kesayangan Dan Menolak Kebencian Akan Membantu Untuk Membina Negara Malaysia Yang Memartabatkan Semua.

DAP Declares A Full Boycott Of The Independent Panel Into Violence During The Bersih 3.0 Rally(en/bm/cn)

DAP Declares A Full Boycott Of The Independent Panel Into Violence During The Bersih 3.0 Rally So Long As Tun Hanif Mohammad Hanif Omar Is A Chairman And Member As He Has Compromised His Impartiality By Publicly Condemning Bersih 3.0 As Communist-Linked And An Attempt to Overthrow The Government.

Tun Mohammad Hanif Omar has dismissed allegations that as head of the investigation panel into the violence during the Bersih 3.0 rally, would result in biased findings saying that he has always acted fairly and impartially in previous enquiries and police investigations. The former Inspector-General of Police(IGP) said there would be no conflict of interest as the panel would be dealing with facts.

By Failing To Act Against The “Burger Protest” Set Up Illegally Outside Bersih Co-Chair Datuk Ambiga’s House, BN And Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) Is Subjecting Her To Undue Harrassment, Intimidation And Invasion Of Privacy.(en/bm/cn)

DAP condemns the “burger protest” by pro-BN and anti-Bersih supporters, which set up an illegal burger stall outside Bersih co-chairperson Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan’s house to protest against their claims of purported loss of income suffered due to the Bersih 3.0 rally on 28 April 2012. Is rule of law in Malaysia now replaced by rule of the jungle?

I fail to understand how DBKL can allow a burger stall to be set up outside a private residence with impunity in Kuala Lumpur? By failing to act against the “burger protest” set up illegally outside Datuk Ambiga’s house, BN and DBKL is subjecting her to undue harrassment, intimidation and invasion of privacy. Will DBKL allow a similar protest outside the private home of Ministers or the DBKL’s Mayor residence?

Will Tun Mohammad Hanif Omar’s Appointment Be A Whitewash Of Police Brutality On Peaceful Demonstrators (en/bm/cn)?

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 10.5.2012.

Will Tun Mohammad Hanif Omar’s Appointment Be A Whitewash Of Police Brutality On Peaceful Demonstrators, A Massive Cover-Up Of The Sufferings Of The Victims Or A Pretext To Justify BN’s Wild Lies That Bersih 3.0 Was A Coup D’état Attempt.

The appointment of former inspector-general of police Tun Mohamad Hanif Omar to head of the independent panel to probe incidents of violence during the Bersih 3.0 rally has raised deep public concerns that the investigation will either be a whitewash of police brutality on peaceful demonstrators, a massive cover-up of the sufferings of the victims or a pretext to justify BN’s wild lies that Bersih 3.0 was a coup d’état attempt.

BN Setting The Minimum Monthly Wage Of RM900 In Peninsular Malaysia And RM800 In Sabah And Sarawak Is Not The Right Thing To Do Is Wrong As It Is Below The Poverty Line Indicator(PLI) For Sabah & Sarawak.(en/cn)

Press Statement By Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 8.5.2012.

BN Setting The Minimum Monthly Wage Of RM900 In Peninsular Malaysia And RM800 In Sabah And Sarawak Is Not The Right Thing To Do Is Wrong As It Is Below The Poverty Line Indicator(PLI) For Sabah & Sarawak.

Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Najib Tun Razak’s announcement of a floor wage for the private sector at RM900 per month for workers in the Peninsular and RM800 per month for those in Sabah and Sarawak as the “right thing to do”, is wrong as it is blow the poverty line for Sabah & Sarawak. Whilst DAP agrees with Najib that getting the correct balance between guaranteeing workers a decent wage and employers’ needs, BN must have lost it sense of balance to fix the minimum monthly wage below the PLI of RM830 per month for Sarawak and RM960 per month for Sabah.(9th Malaysia Plan)
