Press Statement By Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng In Komtar, George Town On 8.10.2012.
With The Spike In Crime Nation-wide Including The Burglary Of Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar’s Home, The BN Federal Government Should Reconsider The RM272.5 Million Spent On Public Relations Exercise On Public Safety But Divert It Directly To The Police Force To Fight Crime.
Malaysians are deeply concerned by the surge of criminal activities ranging from the armed robbery of RM11.5 million microchips from a factory in the Bukit Tengah Industrial area in Penang yesterday to the burglary of Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar’s Datuk Seri Mohamad Abu Hassan’s home in Negeri Sembilan. How can 28 million ordinary Malaysians be safe from crime if even a Menteri Besar’s home is not safe?

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Tan Sri Nor Mohamad Yakcop must come clean on the Bank Negara forex scandal and fully account for the losses of RM15.8 billion from 1992-3 but estimated to reach RM30 billion. According to the Bank Negara’S financial report, Bank Negara recorded losses of RM10.1 billion in 1992 and RM5.7 billion in 1993.
However when replying to my question in Parliament 2 weeks ago, Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Donald Lim only admitted to the RM 5.7 billion in losses in 1993. This gives rise to question about the RM10.1 billion losses in 1992 or even a total loss of up to RM30 billion as former Bank Negara senior officer Dr Rosli Yakcop who had worked under Tan Sri Nor had estimated.

Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Najib’s speech at the opening of the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities Conference urged leaders at all levels of society to exhibit the right values and ethical conduct in order to prevent corruption. Unfortunately Najib is long on rhetoric but short on action in fighting corruption.
The drop in Malaysia’s Transparency International’s(TI) Corruption Perception Index(CPI) from No. 37 in 2003 to No. 60 in 2012 is the most damaging indictment of BN’s failure to root out corruption. Worse, TI Malaysia Deputy President Mohammad Ali even noted that Malaysia’s CPI has continued to decline as “elements of state” that facilitated “grand corruption” were still prevalent. Even Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Chor Chee Heung admitted that corruption cost Malaysia RM26 billion every year.

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 3.10.2012.
The Failure Of The 2013 Budget To Announce The “Inevitable Increase” Of Electricity Tariffs Proves BN’s 3Ds Record of Deficits, Debts and Deception As Compared To PR’s State Government’s 3S Achievement Of Surplus, Sustainable Debt Reduction And Stern Action Against Corruption.
BN’s Budget 2013 is clearly an exercise in deception following the admission by Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Peter Chin in an interview with Sin Chew Daily yesterday that an increase in power tariffs in the future is inevitable due to climbing international prices of fuel. Even though Peter Chin did not reveal the time and quantum of the electricity tariff hike, he pointed out that higher electricity prices will encourage the public to save energy and switch to products with green technology.
Such an admission by Peter Chin is shocking as this should be included by any responsible government in the 2013 Budget. If a hike in electricity tariffs is inevitable, why then was this not announced in the 2013 Budget presented by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on 28 September 2012?

Press Statement By Penang Chief Minister and Penang Pakatan Rakyat Chair Lim Guan Eng In Komtar, George Town on 2.10.2012
Gerakan President and former Penang Chief Minister Tan Sri Koh Tsu Koon’s saddest legacy is not only his unprincipled politics and complete subservience to UMNO but that he has trained and conditioned the next generation of Gerakan leaders in his same mould. Koh claimed to have learnt from the lessons of the 2008 general election defeat.
And yet Koh continues to make personal attacks against me and endorse the campaign of lies by mainstream media that PR leaders are corrupt or engaged in sexual misconduct. Even family members are targetted such as my underaged son who was defamed by BN controlled mainstream media that my son had sexually assaulted his female classmate. Of course Koh see nothing wrong in such personal attacks and lies against PR leaders.

Budget Parliamentary Speech By DAP Secretary-General And Member Of Parliament For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 1.10.2012.
The 2013 Budget has been seen as a handout and goodies laden budget put forth with the intention to ‘buy’ the votes of the Malaysian public in the run up to the next general election. The unprecedented scale and scope of the handouts announced shows that the BN is scared and running nervous that the voters are fed up of 55 years of mismanagement and corrupt rule.
Although the 2013 budget seems to have allocated a large sum of money to be distributed to the people, through programs such as BR1M 2.0, book vouchers for college students, vouchers for primary and secondary school students, smartphone rebates for young people, the amount that will be given out to cronies and that which will be wasted through corruption will far surpass this.

Where Is BN’s Menteri Besar Designate And Shadow Cabinet In The 4 PR States And How Can Abolishing The North-South Highway Toll Lead To A Collapse Of Bursa Malaysia When PLUS Was Taken Private Last Year And Is Not Even Listed On Bursa Malaysia?
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak should practice what he preaches instead of double-standards by directing BN in Kedah, Kelantan, Penang and Selangor to present a shadow EXCO if BN is committed to recapture power in those states. In many respects BN is worse than PR, in that BN not only does not have a shadow cabinet in the PR states but have not even appointed the BN Menteri Besar candidate in Selangor, Kelantan and Kedah.

Defence Minister and Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi confidence yesterday of the success of UMNO’s “3-3-3-1” formula to recapture Penang at the next general elections is based on an obedient tool in the EC, control of mainstream media to spread lies against PR and complacency amongst PR parties. UMNO’s formula involved Umno, MCA and Gerakan adding three seats each and MIC one seat to the existing 11 state assembly seats to win by a majority of one in 21 out of the 40 State assembly seats.
The manipulation of the EC for BN’s own political interests is well-recorded until top officials of EC were recently exposed to be UMNO members. BN’s control of the media has resulted not only in a refusal to highlight PR’s successes in governance but also in sustained personal attack against PR Penang leaders recently based on racism, outright lies of corruption and sexual misconduct. Even my own family members such as my underaged son has not been spared from such vicious lies.
