Jade Emperor Festival Or 8th Day Of Chinese New Year Message By Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng In Komtar, George Town On 6.2.2014.
During this year’s Chinese New Year festivities, the regular topic of discussion in family reunion gatherings is how the toxic atmosphere of playing with the fires of racial and religious hatred has paralysed the pursuit of happiness and hastened the brain drain by accelerating the exodus of human talent. Penang will counter UMNO’s dangerous games of playing with the fires of racial and religious hatred with the weapons of social justice, economic prosperity, good governance and clean leadership.
Recent events coupled with the refusal to address the pressing issues of entrenched corruption and cronyism as well as price hikes that threaten the livelihood of ordinary Malaysians, have lent credence to the view that BN has stopped governing because they no longer know how to rule. The PR Penang state government’s success in becoming the first state in Malaysian history to wipe out poverty and becoming the only state not to raise local services such as quit rent, assessment, business license fees and water tariffs has made UMNO desperate.

DAP supports Opposition leader Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s condemnation of those who spread dangerous lies that DAP has tried to propagate Christianity to set up a Christian state in Penang. DAP is consistent in opposing any establishment of a theocratic state, including opposing a Christian state.
Anwar is correct that there was no truth in such lies against the DAP and me because both DAP and myself has been unwavering in our support for the position in the Federal Constitution of Islam as the religion of the Federation. These lies were made by UMNO groups and Utusan Malaysia against the DAP merely on the flimsy ground that DAP leaders had attended a closed-door meeting with Christian pastors.

Penang PR State Government Has Poured Tens Of Millions Of Ringgit In Funding Since 2008 And Sited The 2 Penang CAT Dialysis Centres In Balik Pulau And Seberang Jaya As Well As The Over RM 4 Billion Undersea Tunnel Link To Bagan Ajam Which Benefits BN-Held Tasek Gelugor And Kepala Batas Parliamentary Seats.
The Penang PR State government has never neglected opposition-held areas but has instead poured tens of millions of ringgit in funding since 2008 and even sited the 2 Penang CAT Dialysis Centres in Balik Pulau and Seberang Jaya as well as the over RM 4 billion undersea tunnel link to Bagan Ajam which benefits BN-held Tasek Gelugor and Kepala Batas parliamentary seats. Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan should not label in Parliament two days ago the Penang government’s move to give RM40,000 annual allocation to the 10 opposition UMNO Assemblyman as a publicity stunt, but see this as a positive step forward for a healthy functioning democracy and the politics of inclusion.
Both UMNO leaders can disagree with the Penang state government’s move to give RM40,000 annual allocation because BN refuses to respect democracy and the choice of voters by giving annual development funds to other PR elected representatives in BN-controlled states. However they are wrong in saying that Penang PR state government only gives the RM40,000 annual allocation to BN-held areas.

Perutusan Hari Raya Aidilfitri 1434 Negeri Pulau Pinang Oleh Ketua Menteri Pulau Pinang Lim Guan Eng Di Komtar, George Town Pada 10.8.2013.

Despite falling far short of its 4,000 vote majority target, DAP congratulates UMNO for its victory in Kuala Besut state by-election yesterday. BN candidate Tengku Zaihan Che Ku Abdul Rahman defeated PAS’ Azlan Yusof to retain Kuala Besut for BN with a 2,592 votes of majority, a 158 vote improvement over the 13thGeneral Elections.
The ruling government always have a clear advantage during by-elections, which allow them to concentrate their resources fully. BN was expected to win with a larger majority in this by-election, following a slew of electoral pledges that carry a total price tag of RM 477 million, By increasing its majority by 158 votes despite offering nearly half a billion ringgit in projects, the results show that nothing has really changed between the recent general elections and this by-election.

DAP commends ordinary Malaysians, both Muslims and non-Muslims, for uniting together in disdain and condemnation of the offensive act of the Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Pristana in Sungai Buloh in placing non-Muslim students of a primary school to eat in a shower room instead of a canteen during fasting month. The makeshift dining room in the shower room is also located next to the smelly toilets.
Many are angered at such humiliation of non-Muslim students by using the pretext of the holy fasting month of Ramadan. As a Muslim ulama told me, non-Muslims can eat in front of Muslims and the Muslim will get more “pahala”(merit). Islam does not permit such actions and DAP hopes that Malaysians can differentiate between the peaceful and noble Islam from those who distort the good name of Islam to force young children to such degrading treatment.
Malaysians have a right to be angry at such irresponsible and irrational action by the school. In expressing their anger, DAP hopes that this can be channelled against the Education Ministry’s failure to inculcate respect of all religions. The Education Ministry’s failure to take into account the sensitivities of other religions is only a reflection of the attitude of the BN leaders in Federal government.

DAP will direct its 3 Selangor State EXCO Members and Selangor State Speaker to publicly declare their personal assets to fulfill DAP general election commitment towards transparency accountability and integrity. DAP 3 EXCO members are Teng Chang Khim, Ean Yong Hian Wah and Ganapathi Rao whereas the Selangor State Speaker is Hannah Yeoh.
Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim announced yesterday that he will not direct its Selangor state EXCO members to publicly declare their assets acquired before being appointed as State EXCO members due to concerns of the personal security and safety of the EXCO members and their families. Tan Sri Abdul Khalid said that the refusal to publicly declare their assets was motivated by the fears of some EXCO members that their personal safety and that of their families may be compromised, if their substantial assets they held before being appointed as State EXCO members were publicly known.

There should be an immediate release and restoration of democratically elected Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi. The forcible removal of the democratically elected President is a naked coup d’etat by the military that violates the popular will of the majority of Egyptians who had given Morsi a popular mandate of 52% in free elections last year.
DAP expresses surprise that so-called defenders of democracy like Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, not only justifies the military coup d’etat but warns that change is dangerous and brings about instability as well as affect economic progress. Democracy is the best form of government to prevent corruption and violation of basic human rights. Economic prosperity and reducing income inequality can only be achieved by ensuring increasing transparency, accountability and competency as well freedom instead of choosing cronies, practicing nepotism and oppression.

Shahidan Kassim’s Latest Expose That No Chemicals Were Used In The Indelible Ink But Only Food Colouring Has Reinforced Public Demands That The Entire Election Commission’s(EC) Resign For Defrauding The People And Abuse Of Public Funds And Power.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Shahidan Kassim’s latest expose that no chemicals were used in the indelible ink but only food colouring has reinforced public demands that the entire Election Commission’s(EC) must resign for defrauding the people and abuse of public funds and power. In a parliamentary written answer to DAP MP for Segambut Lim Lip Eng, Shahidan Kassim said the indelible ink did not last a week as promised because all the chemicals in the ink were replaced by food colouring.
Shahidan’s admission debunked EC’s previous claims that silver nitrate was used in the ink and was supposed to last seven days. This latest revelation comes after Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S Subramaniam openly contradicted EC Chair Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof’s claims that the EC consulted the Health Ministry regarding the safety of the indelible ink by stating that the Health Ministry had never issued such a report.

Datuk Idris Haron Must Prove That Not Only 1Malaysia Is Still Alive But That He Is A Melaka Chief Minister For All And Not Just BN Supporters, By Revoking His Directive To Reopen To Traffic Because That Will Destroy The Character And Identity Of The Jonker Walk Cultural Street.
Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Idris Haron has shocked not only ordinary Malaysians but also BN leaders and supporters with an act of political retaliation and vengeance that will only come back to haunt Melaka’s tourism industry but also spell the beginning of extremist politics and end of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s 1 Malaysia. By allowing traffic flow to reopen in Jonker Walk that was closed during the weekend for the past 13 years, Idris is effectively putting the 300 traders out of business in the famous Jonker Walk Cultural Street, that is a showcase of Melaka’s tourism and heritage.

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On11.6.2013.
DAP expresses shock at the threat by outgoing Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia to boycott the swearing-in of PR MPs so that they will lose their eligibility as parliamentarians resulting in a by-election. Under Article 59(2) of the federal constitution, any elected representative who fails to take the oath within six months will be disqualified automatically and his or seat shall be vacant.
The role of the Speaker of the House is to conduct parliamentary business impartially and should not partake or interfere in political matters. It is most unbecoming of any Speaker and he has no right to boycott any parliamentarian or deliberately cause his or her disqualification by boycotting or refusing to swear him or her in. I hope that this is only a joke by Tan Sri Pandikar or else there will be serious doubts on his intentions and impartiality when he presides over Parliament.
DAP 38 MPs will neither boycott the Dewan Rakyat’s swearing-in ceremony of Members of Parliament on 24 June 2013 nor its parliamentary sittings but will use the legislative process to press for polls reform, particularly adhering to the democratic principle of “one-person, one-vote, one-value”. Boycotting the swearing-in of MPs will not be seen as a “symbolic gesture” or a bold step to protest against the stolen general elections when PR can make the point more effectively with nation-wide peaceful protest rallies.

DAP will fight in court for Malaysians overseas whose passports were revoked by the BN Federal government because of political involvement in opposing the corruption and abuse of power of BN. DAP will not stand idly by and watch Malaysians persecuted and victimised merely for exercising their fundamental human rights of expressing their political beliefs.
According to news reports, Immigration Director-General Datuk Alias Ahmad has confirmed that the Immigration Department would revoke the passports of 6,564 Malaysians who have been blacklisted for tarnishing the image of the country overseas, including those who took part in demonstrations overseas. Alias had earlier denied a Malay daily report quoting him as citing Section 8 of the Immigration Act 1959/63 or the Passports Act 1966 to support the decision to cancel the passports of blacklisted Malaysians.

Malaysia should not follow the Singaporean model to regulate online portals because this violates the Malaysia MSC Bill of Guarantees that there will be no internet censorship. DAP regrets that newly-minted Communications and Multimedia Minister Ahmad Shabery Cheek is starting off his tenure by breaking BN’s earliest promise of not censoring the internet in wanting to regulate online portals. Where is BN’s “Janji ditepati”?
Ahmad Shabery should be granting freedom to the media and the press instead of trying to further choke off any limited space of press freedom found in the internet. Why should Malaysia follow Singapore in regulating online portals when Singapore performed worse than Malaysia in press freedom?
