Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 15.3.2015.

1MDB will haunt our financial capital markets and even contribute to a further depreciation of the Ringgit if BN Ministers continues to be in denial that there is no bailout of 1MDB even after RM600 million of a RM950 million BN Federal Government Standby Credit has been utilised by 1MDB. Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah is like an “ostrich in the sand” for insisting that the Government’s injection of RM950mil in standby credit for 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) does not in any way constitute a bailout, because 1MDB is not a failed organisation but is only facing a short-term cash flow problem.

Clearly Ahmad forgets basic high-school accounting that bankruptcy is most commonly caused by insolvency in not having enough cash to pay your debts, even when your financial accounts shows healthy accounting profits. There are many companies that have gone bust because they are unable to meet their short-term cash obligations despite having billions of dollars in assets. Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission(MACC) And BN MPs Should Stop Their “Sandiwara” Of Pledging To Fight Corruption(e/m/c)

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 9.3.2015.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission(MACC) And BN MPs Should Stop Their “Sandiwara” Of Pledging To Fight Corruption When They Have Failed To Prevent The RM42 Billion 1MDB Scandal Or Taken Any Action Over The RM 52 Billion Missing Bumi Shares Scandal And The RM13.5 Billion Port Klang Free Trade Zone Scandal.

If the BN MPs want to make a personal statement by showing their sincerity for upholding integrity in leadership, they can publicly declare their assets to compel Ministers and the Prime Minister to do the same.

As part of the ruling state government in Penang, all PR state assemblypersons in Penang have publicly declared their assets to demonstrate this commitment to integrity in leadership and fight corruption. Further Penang has also implemented competitive open tenders and barred family members of government leaders from doing business with the state government.

Najib Should Answer Daim’s Accusation Questioning How Come The Value Of The Ringgit Depreciated So Precipitously And The Bursa Malaysia Performed The Worst Amongst All Regional Stockmarkets If There Was Such Brilliant Economic Stewardship.

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 1.3.2015.

If the Merdeka Centre polling survey is correct, only 18% of the Chinese community as compared to 58% of the Malay community are satisfied with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s performance. The level of Chinese support could have been reduced further if the survey, which was conducted in January, had been carried out this month following Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s racist call on the Malays to boycott Chinese traders with outrageous lies that the Chinese trader were the cause of prices not going down and that the Chinese oppressed the Malays.

Najib should be happy to still get even 10% support from the Chinese community when he had openly allowed such overtly anti-Chinese, racist and extremist sentiments to be expressed by his Cabinet member without being punished. Such racist and extremist remarks by Ismail Sabri antagonised not only the non-Malay community but moderate Malays, who were shocked at such scapegoating to detract attention from the BN Federal government’s failures to manage the economy well.
