Press Statement by Penang Chief Minister YAB Lim Guan Eng In Majestic Heights Development Site on 27.4.2014

The recently announced rehabilitation and revival of Majestic Heights abandoned project will not only benefit the long awaited 370 house buyers of phase 2A but good news to 7,658 applicants who wish to own an affordable house within the North East district. The Majestic Heights project is the largest abandoned housing scheme in Penang declaring its status as abandoned project on 31 December 2003 and has caused hardship and financial loss to the house buyers over the last 11 years.

After a series of discussion with PLB Land Sdn Bhd, the white knight for the said project, the Penang State Government is looking at not only solving the woes of the long awaited buyers of the Majestic Heights abandoned project but to provide shelter to those who wish to own their first house in the North East district of Penang.

Apart from completing the abandoned Majestic Heights phase 2A project within 18 months upon commencement of work, approximately 64 acres of land within the same development site will be developed into affordable housing scheme providing 7,658 of affordable homes of less than RM 400,000.00 to the qualified applicants registered under the State Housing Department. The affordable housing scheme is scheduled to complete in 6 years starting from the date of commencement of work.

Situated in the ideal geographical location linking the heart of George Town and the Bayan Lepas Industrial Area, traffic management will be an important factor follow by the vast development. To this end, the Penang State Government will construct paired road from the development site to Bukit Gambir in order to provide enhanced accessibility to the residents in the said area and to ease up the traffic burden for road users.

Apart from the rehabilitation and revival of phase 2A, the State Government is still in discussion with PLB Land Sdn Bhd on how to resolve both abandoned Phase 2B and Phase 3A of Majestic Heights. Phase 2B and Phase 3A was abandoned in its foundation and initial stage. Phase 2B consist of 542 units and Phase 3A involves 558 units. Buyers for the said projects are encouraged to form pro-tem committee in order to expedite the procedure. The State Government has tasked Penang State EXCO member for Housing YB Jagdeep Singh Deo to initiate and oversee the revival of this abandoned housing project.

近期公布的振兴大华高原组屋搁置计划,不只为引颈长盼多时的370单位的2A购屋者受惠, 同时也为7千658名平民屋(或可负担房屋)申请者捎来好消息,这些申请者终于得以在东北县拥有可负担的房子了。大华高原组屋为槟城史上最大规模的被搁置房屋发展计划,自2003年12月31日宣布发展计划被搁置后,购屋者在这11年来蒙受经济损失,备受困扰。

经过多番与此计划的白武士 – PLB 国云集团谈论,槟州政府不只是要解决大华高原组屋被搁置计划之购屋者的问题,我们也期望能够让无壳一族,得以在东北县拥有他们人生的首间房子。

除了需在动工后的18个月内完成被搁置已久的大华高原2A计划,在同一发展地段的64英亩地皮,也将会被发展为7千658 单位、屋价低于40万令吉的平民屋,以让那些已经向州政府房屋部申请,并符合资格者购买。这项可负担房屋计划,将会在动工后的6年内完成。

此计划处于衔接乔治市及峇六拜工业区的策略性地理位置,加上蓬勃的发展,交通管理将是非堂重要的关键。槟州政府将在有关发展所在地,兴建一条贯穿垄尾至武吉占姆的平行公路,以为该区居民打造更多通路,同时缓和当地的交通负荷。

除了振兴大华高原组屋2A发展计划,州政府也正积极地与国云集团(PLB Land Sdn Bhd)商议,以解决大华高原另两个被搁置的2B及3A计划。这两项计划是在打桩的初期即被搁置迄今。2B共有542单位,而3A 则有558 个单位。这两项计划的购屋者,受促成立购屋者临时委员会,以加快相关的程序。槟州政府已委任房屋委员会主席佳日星跟进这两项房屋计划的复兴工作。
