Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 5.8.2013.

39 top students receiving full marks of Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) 4.0 but still not being selected for public university places for their preferred courses is a national shame that will stain the pursuit of merit, excellence and merit as well as cripple the elusive search for national unity after 56 years Of Merdeka. Depriving qualified students, including those with a CGPA of the maximum 4.0 from places in public universities, will only exacerbate the brain drain, make it harder for Talent Corporation to generate a brain gain and make it easier for neighbouring countries to steal our best and brightest.

No democratic and humane country in the world would consider as just in rejecting top students who scored the perfect CGPA of 4.0, but were offered courses that were not their chosen option. Even though MCA, MIC and Gerakan leaders have openly attacked the Ministry of Education(MOE) for this injustice, MOE has clearly dismissed these BN component parties as staging a sandiwara as they did not pull out from BN.

Act Against Bernama And New Straits Times Under The 1984 Printing Presses And Publications Act Or Multimedia and Communications Act 1998 For Printing False News That Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin Had Blamed Non-Muslims for Mocking Islam And That He Referred to The Dog Trainer’s Hari Raya Video Clip.(en/cn)

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 4.8.2013

DAP demands immediate action by the police against Bernama and New Straits Times under the 1984 Printing Presses and Publications Act Or Multimedia and Communications Act 1998 for printing false news that Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had blamed non-muslims for mocking Islam and that he referred to the dog trainer’s Hari Raya video clip. The Deputy Prime Minister clarified that he did not specifically mention that non-Muslims had belittled and mocked Islam of late, in his widely reported July 30 speech and was only making a general statement.

On July 31, news organisations such as Bernama and New Straits Times had quoted Muhyiddin mentioning “another disturbing video clip” which he claimed was insensitive to Muslim sensitivities and blamed non-Muslims for insulting the sanctity of Islam when Muslims do not make fun of other faiths. DAP believes that in Muhyddin and that both New Straits Times and Bernama lied to stoke racial tensions by creating enmity, hatred and fear between Malaysia’s Muslim and non-Muslim communities.

DAP Would Be Subjected Permanently To Arbitrary Dictates And High-handed Abuse Of Power By Registrar of Societies(RoS) If RoS Fails To Fulfill The Two Conditions Of Fully Explaining The Grounds Why DAP Should Hold Fresh Elections And The Relevant Provision Exercised Under The Societies Act.(en/bm/cn)

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 1.8.2013

DAP would be subjected permanently to arbitrary dictates and high-handed abuse of power by RoS if RoS fails to fulfill the two conditions of fully explaining the grounds why DAP should hold fresh elections and the relevant provision exercised under the Societies Act. During the emergency meeting, CEC members were shocked that the RoS could make such an important decision in such a high-handed and arbitrary manner merely on the basis that it is dissatisfied without giving any reasons.

Issuing a short directive to hold fresh elections on a purely subjective basis that one is dissatisfied without giving any grounds of dissatisfaction, is unacceptable by any moral and ethical standards, undemocratic, a denial of natural justice and due legal process. If this is the basis of the decision-making process by the RoS, then opposition parties like the DAP would be permanently held to ransom by ridiculous and baseless complaints. In future there is nothing to stop the RoS from directing the holding of fresh elections at any time at the RoS’whim and fancy without giving any reasons.

MCA, Gerakan And MIC Should Pull Out Of Selangor BN To Prove Their Sincerity That They Do Not Want To Be Associated With A Crazy Leader Like Selangor UMNO Chairman Datuk Noh Omar (en/bm/cn)

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 1.8.2013

MCA, Gerakan And MIC Should Pull Out Of Selangor BN To Prove Their Sincerity That They Do Not Want To Be Associated With A Crazy Leader Like Selangor UMNO Chairman Datuk Noh Omar Who Wants Guneswari, A Parent of Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Pristana, Investigated Under The Sedition Act.

MCA, Gerakan and MIC should pull out of Selangor BN to prove their sincerity that they do not want to be associated with a crazy leader like Selangor UMNO Chairman Datuk Noh Omar who wants Guneswari, a parent of Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Pristana in Sungai Buloh, investigated under the Sedition Act 1948. There is no force of conviction in MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek words calling Noh Omar as crazy for wanting Guneswari to be investigated under the Sedition Act for exposing the makeshift canteen in shower room fiasco, when MCA still works hand in hand with UMNO in Selangor?

As long as MCA, Gerakan and MIC still work together with UMNO in Selangor BN under Noh Omar as Chairman, criticisms against Noh Omar for being crazy will be seen as another stage drama or wayang kulit that will be quickly forgotten in a week.
