Penang Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng is leading a strong 52 member delegation on a trade and investment promotion mission to Seoul, South Korea from October 28 to November 1, 2008. The delegation will participate in the Asia Pacific Tourism Investment Conference and EXPO (APTIC) where the Penang Pavilion will be set up to showcase Penang’s value propositions.
The objective of Penang’s participation in APTIC is to promote Penang as an ideal home for MM2H participants from Korea. Private sector companies in Penang that are participating in the Penang Pavilion include the Eastern & Oriental Berhad, SP Setia Berhad, Hunza Properties Berhad, Ideal Property Intelligence Sdn Bhd and the Penang Health Association. The Chief Minister is scheduled to present a paper entitled “ Sustainable Tourism Development in a Heritage Environment- the Penang Story” on October 30, at the APTIC.
In addition, it is also the aim of the Penang State Government to enhance relationship with existing investors as well as to promote potential investments to Penang. As such, the Chief Minister will also have business meetings with several Korean companies and potential investors in various sectors, which include medical devices, electronics, healthcare, education, tour & travel and recreational. The Chief Minister will also have an official meeting with the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Sports and Culture, Korea on October 31, 2008.
Accompanying the Chief Minister for this mission are Madam Betty Chew; Penang Deputy Chief Minister-1, Mohammad Fairus Khairuddin; State EXCO member for Tourism, Danny Law; Members of Parliament, Jeff Ooi and Liew Chin Tong; PDC’s GM, Dato’ Rosli Jaafar; investPenang’s Chairman of the Executive Committee, Dato’ Lee Kah Chooon and officials from investPenang.
