Speech By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng During The DAP National Leadership Retreat In Subang, Selangor On 8.1.2018.
Following the comment by Umno supreme council member and Tourism & Culture Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Aziz that Parliament is likely to be dissolved in April, the 14th general elections is likely to be held before 17 May 2018. The present BN government’s term ends on June 24, the date which this Parliament was called and MPs sworn in, which requires the general election to be called within 60 days, the latest date by August 2018.
Just as Datuk Seri Nazri feels that Parliament will not dissolved when Parliamentary meeting is in session beginning from March 5 till April 4, general elections is unlikely to be held during the fasting(puasa month). The fasting month or Awal Ramadhan is expected to be on 16th May 2018, which means that general elections must be held before this date.
General elections cannot be held during the Hari Raya Puasa celebrations in June. It is also unlikely that the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will wait and allow Parliament to run its full term till 24 June 2018. This would mean that the general elections will be held in August 2018, which would see Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim already released from prison and free to campaign against BN.
The BN Federal government had announced that Datuk Seri Anwar will be released from prison on 8 June 2018. Datuk Seri Anwar campaigning in the general elections together with Pakatan Prime Minister designate Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and the Deputy Prime Minister designate Datuk Seri Wan Azizah, would be the greatest nightmare of Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Therefore, the latest date for general elections to be held will be before 16 May 2018, which is before the beginning of the puasa month. May 13 is also an unlikely date even though it falls on a Sunday, due to the direct connection to the bloody May 13 racial riots in 1969. This only leaves a late April and an early May date as the likeliest.
DAP directs all it state committees to gear up for a 100 day General Election countdown to prepare for DAP’s do-or-die battle to help Pakatan Harapan win the 14th general elections to save Malaysia and prevent the future of our children from being stolen. To win Putrajaya, Pakatan must also win in Perak, Kedah, Johor and Negeri Sembilan apart from retaining both Penang and Selangor. The DAP General Election machinery will be fully mobilised within 100 days to ensure that our organisation, publicity and financial mechanism is ready and functional together with the leadership team and candidate roster.

进入全国大选倒数100天，行动党这一战只有“拼了或等死”，以协助希望联盟在第14 届大选拯救马来西亚，并阻止我们孩子的未来被盗走。
随着巫统最高理事会成员及旅游、文化部长拿督斯里莫哈末纳兹里说，国会看来将在4月解散，全国第14届大选将在2018年5月17日前举行。目前国阵政府的任期在6月24日届满，这也是国会召开、国会议员宣誓就职的日期，全国大选必须在政府任期届满后60天内举行大选，最迟必须要2018年8月完成大选。
正如拿督斯里纳兹里觉得国会不会在3月5日至4月4日之前召开期间解散，全国大选不太像会在斋戒月间举行。斋戒节估计落在2018年5月16日，意味着全国大选必须在这个日期之前举行。
全国大选也不能在六月开斋节期间举行。首相拿督斯里纳吉也不太可能会等到国会任期届满2018年6月24日那一天。因为这意味着大选将在2018年8月举行，他将眼着拿督斯里安华出狱、以自由身迎战国阵。
国阵联邦政府已经宣布安华将在2018年6月8日出狱。拿督斯里安华将与希望联盟定下的首相人选敦马哈迪及副首相人选拿督斯里旺阿兹莎联手，在大选中助战，这将是拿督斯里纳吉最不想看到的噩梦。
因此，举行大选的最后期限将会是2018年5月16日之前，那就是斋戒月之前。5月13日虽然落在星期日，但因为这个日期直接与1969年513事件流血种族冲突有关，因此不太可能在这一天大选。剩下的可能性只剩4月底或5月初。
行动党指示所有州委，进入备战状态，为全国大选倒数100天做好准备，“拼了或等死”，以协助希望联盟在第14 届大选拯救马来西亚，并阻止我们孩子的未来被盗走。为了入主布城，除了槟城和雪兰莪，希盟必须在霹雳、吉打、柔佛及森美兰州胜出，行动党竞选机器将在100天内全面开打，以确保我们在领导层、团队、候选人名册在组织、宣传或财政机制各方面都准备好、发挥最佳状态。
