Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan is so desperate to chicken out of his own debate challenge, that he is now issuing a new challenge me to sue him in court for defamation. Rahman knows that if I sue him for defamation then he can easily use the excuse of sub-judice as the reason for not debating me. <\/p>\n
We cannot forget that the RM2.6 billion donation scandal of the Prime Minister was declared sub judice merely because of a judicial review filed in court by the Bar Council. As a result of the RM2.6 billion donation scandal was declared sub-judice by the Parliamentary Speaker and no questions were allowed to be raised in Parliament. <\/p>\n
Rahman is trying again to run away from his own debate challenge on the sale of government land in Taman Manggis because he knows that if I sue him for defamation, then the whole matter would be sub judice and not open for debate. Clearly the same rules will apply and the whole drama and sandiwara will be replayed where he will take advice not to proceed with a debate as the matter is now in court and will only debate me after the defamation suit is dealt with. <\/p>\n
I will not fall into the same trap. Let us debate first to clarify the truth and prove who is lying, before talking about defamation suits in court. We have more than sufficient time to decide whether to sue after the open public debate that Rahman is so desperate to chicken out from. <\/p>\n
Rahman must not forget that he was the one who issued the debate challenge to me on 6 April, which I immediately accepted on 7 April. He then ran away overseas for a week promising to debate with me on his return. When TV3 and RTM offered a live telecast of the debate, I had thought he will not chicken out of the debate. Then he again ran away from the debate, relying on both Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission(MACC) and the Inspector-General of Police(IGP) to save him on the excuse that the debate will prejudice investigations. <\/p>\n
How can an open debate prejudice MACC\u2019s investigations when TV3 has been condemning me every night for 15 minutes on TV3 Bulletin Utama\u2019s news? Yesterday night I was even a headline news even though TV3 was just regurgitating old news. <\/p>\n
I am astounded at Rahman\u2019s ridiculous suggestion that I should thankful to the IGP for helping me not to proceed with the debate. How has the IGP helped me when I want to debate and not chicken out like Rahman? When has the IGP ever helped me? Even when death threats were made against me or when scandalous lies were hurled against my son that he sexually molested his female classmate when the girl identified was from Hong Kong who had never been to Penang, no arrests were made by the IGP against the perpetrators! <\/p>\n
Rahman likes to make personal attacks and talk of decorum of a Minister or Chief Minister to divert attention that he chickened out of the debate. If Rahman is so committed to decorum why has he not listened to the advice of Parliament Speaker Tan Sri Amin Pandikar to withdraw the unparliamentary word that he used against me in Parliament? <\/p>\n
Unlike Rahman, I have never run away because I have nothing to hide. Unlike Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and the RM50 billion 1MDB scandal and the RM2.6 billion donation scandal, I am willing to face my accusers in an open debate because of my belief that truth will prevail. By chickening out of his own debate challenge, Rahman has proven who is running away from the truth. <\/p>\n
Rahman is visibly upset that he is now seen as a coward by the public and a Minister that has miserably failed to live up to expectations for chickening out of his own debate challenge. This only proves what I said that \u201can honest man or woman dies but once, whereas a coward dies a thousand deaths.\u201d <\/p>\n

Begitu terdesak sekali Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan mahu lari dari cabaran debatnya sendiri, sehingga beliau mahu saya membuat saman fitnah terhadapnya, supaya beliau boleh menggunakan alasan sub-judice untuk mengelak daripada berdebat dengan saya.<\/strong><\/p>\n Menteri Kesejahteraan Bandar, Perumahan dan Kerajaan Tempatan Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan nampaknya begitu terdesak sekali mahu lari dari cabaran debatnya sendiri, sehingga beliau mencabar saya membuat saman fitnah terhadapnya di mahkamah. Rahman tahu bahawa jika saya menyamannya, beliau dengan mudah boleh menggunakan alasan sub-judice untuk mengelak daripada berdebat dengan saya.<\/p>\n Kita tidak lupa apabila skandal derma RM2.6 bilion Perdana Menteri diisytiharkan sub-judice hanya kerana semakan kehakiman yang difailkan di mahkamah oleh Majlis Peguam. Hasilnya skandal derma RM2.6 bilion diisytihar sub-judice oleh Speaker Parlimen dan tiada soalan boleh dibangkitkan di Parlimen. <\/p>\n Rahman sedang cuba untuk lari dari cabaran debatnya sendiri mengenai penjualan tanah kerajaan di Taman Manggis kerana dia tahu bahawa jika saya membuat saman fitnah terhadapnya, perkara itu akan menjadi sub-judice dan tidak boleh diperdebatkan. Jelas sekali peraturan yang sama turut terpakai dan seluruh drama serta sandiwara akan diulang tayang di mana beliau akan mengambil nasihat supaya tidak meneruskan debat kerana hal tersebut kini sudah menjadi urusan mahkamah dan hanya boleh berdebat dengan saya selepas saman fitnah itu selesai.<\/p>\n Saya tidak akan terjerumus dalam perangkap yang sama. Biarlah kami berdebat dahulu dan jelaskan apa yang benar dan buktikan siapa yang berbohong, sebelum bercakap mengenai saman fitnah di mahkamah. Kita mempunyai masa yang lebih dari cukup untuk memutuskan sama ada untuk saman selepas debat terbuka yang Rahman begitu terdesak mahu lari. <\/p>\n Rahman tidak harus lupa bahawa beliaulah yang melontarkan cabaran kepada saya pada 6 April, yang terus saya sahut pada 7 April. Beliau kemudian lari ke luar negara selama seminggu, dan berjanji untuk berdebat dengan saya sebaik sahaja beliau pulang. Apabil RTM dan TV3 menawarkan siaran langsung untuk debat tersebut, saya ingatkan beliau tidak akan lari dari debat itu. Tapi selepas itu beliau lari lagi, dan bergantung kepada Suruhanjaya Pencegahan Rasuah Malaysia (SPRM) dan Ketua Polis Negara (KPN) untuk menyelamatkannya atas alasan bahawa debat akan mengganggu siasatan. <\/p>\n Bagaimana sebuah debat terbuka boleh mengganggu siasatan SPRM sedangkan TV3 menyerang saya setiap malam selama 15 minit dalam siaran Buletin Utama? Semalam, saya masih menjadi tajuk berita utama walaupun TV3 hanya memuntahkan berita lama. <\/p>\n Saya terpana dengan cadangan mengarut Rahman bahawa saya patut berterima kasih kepada KPN kerana membantu untuk tidak meneruskan debat. Bagaimana KPN membantu saya sedangkan saya mahu berdebat dan bukan lari seperti Rahman? Bila masa KPN pernah membantu saya? Malah ketika ugutan bunuh dibuat terhadap saya atau apabila pembohongan dilemparkan terhadap anak saya kononnya dia mencabul kehormatan rakan sedarjahnya sedangkan gadis yang ditampilkan rupa-rupanya berasal dari Hong Kong dan tidak pernah menjejak Pulau Pinang, tiada tangkapan pun dibuat oleh KPN ke atas para pelaku. <\/p>\n Rahman gemar melakukan serangan peribadi dan bercakap tentang adab sopan seorang Menteri atau Ketua Menteri bagi mengalih perhatian apabila beliau lari dari debat. Jika Rahman betul-betul komited kepada adab sopan, kenapa beliau tidak mendengar nasihat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin untuk menarik balik perkataan yang tidak sesuai digunakan di parlimen terhadap saya?<\/p>\n Tidak seperti Rahman, saya tidak akan melarikan diri kerana saya tidak ada apa-apa untuk disembunyikan. Tidak seperti Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Razak dan skandal RM50 bilion 1MDB serta skandal derma RM2.6 bilion, saya berani berdepan dengan mereka yang membuat tuduhan dalam debat terbuka kerana saya percaya kebenaran akan menang. Dengan melarikan diri dari cabaran debatnya sendiri, Rahman telah membuktikan bahawa dialah yang lari dari kebenaran. <\/p>\n Rahman jelas tertekan kerana beliau kini dilihat sebagai pengecut di mata orang ramai dan sebagai menteri yang telah sama sekali gagal untuk memenuhi jangkaan kerana melarikan diri dari cabaran debatnya sendiri. Ini membuktikan apa yang saya pernah sebut, \u2018orang yang jujur hanya mati sekali, walhal pengecut mati seribu kali.\u2019<\/p>\n LIM GUAN ENG<\/p>\n
