BN\u2019s national conspiracy to character assassinate me over the purchase of my house through lies and half-truths, double-standards and even abuse of power, is a blatant attempt to justify, blot out or distract attention from the real financial scandals of BN such as the RM42 billion 1MDB scandal, the RM2.6 billion donation scandal and the latest RM100 million corruption scam in the Youth and Sports Ministry.<\/p>\n
The BN scandals have caused losses of public funds and hurt the nation\u2019s economy with the depreciation of the ringgit, whilst the purchase of my house has shown the highest levels of transparency and accountability with the practice of open tenders and even opening up my house for inspection by the media. And yet the BN\u2019s print and broadcasting media continues its blanket coverage of my house, as if there are no other news or issues in the world.<\/p>\n
The latest Gerakan\u2019s claim is that a July 2003 Penang government memo showed the land in Taman Manggis was proposed for a People’s Housing Project (PPR) by the previous BN administration. How did Gerakan possess a government document as far back as 2003 that the present state government is only aware of now?<\/p>\n
Why Was Not Even A Single Unit Of Public Housing Built For The 5 Years Until 2008, If BN Had Made Such A Proposal In 2003?
\nIf Gerakan claims that a 2003 state government memo had proposed such a public housing project, the most important question is this \u2013
\n\u201cWhy was the public housing scheme not built by BN during the 5 years from 2003 until 2008, without a single unit being constructed? Why was nothing done if there were such plans in 2003?\u201d Clearly this is another empty talk by BN.<\/p>\n
At the time we made a decision to sell the Taman Manggis land by open tender to promote medical tourism to build a hospital, there were no talk of doing public housing. This is confirmed by a 2001 layout plan submitted to Majlis Perbandaran Pulau Pinang by the Jabatan Perumahan Negara(National Housing Department) under the Federal government\u2019s Housing Ministry, which clearly stated that the Taman Manggis land was for \u201cfuture development\u201d(see attached) without any mention of public housing.<\/p>\n
In contrast the Penang Pakatan state government acted quickly. Considering the Taman Manggis land of 1 acre too small for public housing, the Pakatan state government had allocated a bigger site of 11 acre(10 times larger) in neighbouring Jalan SP. Chelliah for affordable housing and low medium cost houses. An open tender of the project was conducted in 2013 and work on the 2,093 units have started has started with 20% completion. If not for the victimisation by the Housing Ministry, in delaying the granting of Advertising Permit and Developer License(APDL) by one year for this project, the project will be more than 20% completed.<\/p>\n
Is Gerakan now going to claim that BN had also planned to use Jalan SP Chelliah for public housing many years ago, but yet cannot answer why it is the Pakatan state government that acts to build whilst the BN state government does nothing?<\/p>\n
Not Knowing The Value Of My House Relate To UMNO\u2019s Lies That Is Worth RM6.5 Million.
\nAnother BN lie is my statement that I did not know the value of my house even though I signed the Sales & Purchase Agreement and paid stamp duty. I had replied to a question on whether the value of my house was RM6.5 million as alleged by UMNO. I replied honestly I did not know if my house was valued at M6.5 million as I am a Chief Minister and not a property agent. My reply in reference to the RM6.5 million lie by UMNO, was even highlighted in the front-page of the Star(see attached) and yet has been twisted and distorted.<\/p>\n
BN is trying to compare the former Selangor Menteri Besar Khir Toyo\u2019s corruption case with mine, that the purchase of my house is connected to my landlady benefiting from the sale of government land in Taman Manggis to a company, KLIDC. My landlady has stated that she had sold her house to me on her own free will. BN ignores the fact that the sale to KLIDC was by open tender, and my landlady is neither a director nor shareholder of KLIDC. KLIDC is also not a subsidiary company of any of my landlady\u2019s company.<\/p>\n
For this reason, the state government and myself has nothing to hide and welcome a MACC investigation. We will give full co-operation to investigations conducted by the MACC, who visited my offices yesterday.<\/p>\n
Despite the Penang Pakatan government practicing the highest levels of accountability and transparency, BN will make black into white and white into black. Will the BN leaders do what I have done, which is to open my house up to the media, make public declaration of our personal assets and identify who is the donor of the RM2.6 billion?<\/p>\n

Konspirasi pembunuhan karakter tidak boleh menjustifikasi, memadam atau mengalihkan perhatian daripada skandal 1MDB, skandal derma RM2.6 bilion dan penipuan RM100 juta di Kementerian Belia dan Sukan.<\/p>\n
Konspirasi nasional BN untuk membunuh karakter saya berkenaan pembelian rumah saya melalui pembohongan, sikap double-standard malah salahguna kuasa, adalah cubaan secara sengaja untuk menjustifikasi, memadam atau mengalihkan perhatian daripada skandal 1MDB, skandal derma RM2.6 bilion dan yang terbaru penipuan RM100 juta di Kementerian Belia dan Sukan.<\/p>\n
Skandal-skandal BN telah mengakibatkan kerugian dana awam dan memberi kesan buruk kepada ekonomi termasuk susutnya nilai ringgit, sementara pembelian rumah saya pula telah memperlihatkan tahap ketelusan dan akauntabiliti serta amalan tender terbuka, malah saya membuka pintu rumah saya untuk tatapan pihak media. Namun begitu, media kawalan BN terus melakukan liputan ke atas rumah saya, seolah-olah tidak ada berita atau isu lain di dunia ini.<\/p>\n
Terbaru, Gerakan mendakwa bahawa pada bulan Julai 2003 memo kerajaan negeri Pulau Pinang menunjukkan bahawa tanah Taman Manggis dicadangkan untuk Projek Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) oleh kerajaan BN sebelum ini. Bagaimana Gerakan memiliki dokumen kerajaan tahun 2003 yang tidak disedari kerajaan negeri sehingga kini?<\/p>\n
Kenapa tiada satu unit perumahan rakyat dibina sepanjang tempoh lima tahun sehingga 2008, jika BN mencadangkannya pada tahun 2003?<\/p>\n
Sekiranya Gerakan mendakwa bahawa memo kerajaan negeri pada tahun 2003 telah mencadangkan projek perumahan tersebut, soalan yang paling penting ialah:
\n\u201cKenapa skim perumahan rakyat tidak dilaksanakan oleh BN sepanjang lima tahun dari 2003 ke 2008, tanpa satu unit pun dibina? Kenapa tidak buat apa-apa jika ada rancangan pada tahun 2003?\u201d Jelas ini adalah satu lagi cakap kosong oleh BN.<\/p>\n
Pada waktu kita memutuskan untuk menjual Taman Manggis melalui tender terbuka bagi mempromosi pelancongan perubatan dan membina hospital, tidak ada pun cakap-cakap untuk melaksanakan perumahan rakyat. Ini disahkan oleh pelan susun atur bagi tahun 2001 yang dikemukakan kepada Majlis Perbandaran Pulau Pinang oleh Jabatan Perumahan Negara di bahawa Kementerian perumahan kerajaan persekutuan, yang jelas menyebut bahawa tanah Taman Manggis adalah untuk \u2018pembangunan akan datang\u2019 (future development, sila lihat lampiran) tanpa menyebut tentang perumahan awam.<\/p>\n
Sebaliknya, Kerajaan Negeri Pakatan Pulau Pinang bertindak pantas. Memandangkan tanah Taman Manggis seluas 1 ekar adalah terlalu kecil untuk perumahan awam, kerajaan negeri Pakatan telah memperuntukkan tanah seluas 11 ekar (10 kali lebih luas) di Jalan SP Chelliah untuk membina rumah mampu milik dan rumah kos sederhana rendah. Tender terbuka bagi projek tersebut telah dijalankan pada 2013 dan kerja-kerja membina 2,093 unit telah bermula dengan kadar siap 20%. Jika bukan kerana dimangsakan oleh Kementerian Perumahan dengan melengahkan Lesen Pemaju dan Permit Iklan (Advertising Permit and Developer License) sehingga satu tahun untuk projek ini, pastinya projek ini sudah siap lebih daripada 20%.<\/p>\n
Adakah Gerakan sekarang hendak mendakwa bahawa BN juga telah merancang untuk menggunakan Jalan SP Chelliah untuk membangunkan perumahan awam bertahun-tahun lalu, tetapi tidak boleh menajawab kenapa kerajaan negeir Pakatan boleh bertindak pantas memulakan pembinaan tetapi kerajaan negeri BN tidak berbuat apa-apa?<\/p>\n
Tidak mengetahui nilai rumah saya adalah berkait pembohongan Umno yang nilainya ialah RM6.5 juta<\/p>\n
Satu lagi pembohongan BN ialah kenyataan bahawa saya kononnya tidak tahu nilai rumah saya sedangkan saya telah menandatangani perjanjian jual beli dan membayar duti setem. Saya telah menjawab soalan samada rumah saya berharga RM6.5 juta seperti yang didakwa Umno. Saya dengan jujur berkata bahawa saya tidak tahu rumah saya bernilai RM6.5 juta kerana saya Ketua Menteri dan bukan ejen hartanah. Jawapan saya merujuk penipuan RM6.5 juta oleh Umno turut diletak di muka depan akhbar The Star (lihat lampiran) namun tetap diputarbelit.<\/p>\n
BN sedang cuba membandingkan saya dengan kes rasuah bekas menteri besar Selangor Dr Khir Toyo, bahawa pembelian rumah saya adalah berkait tuanpunya rumah tersebut mendapat manfaat daripada penjualan tanah kerajaan di Taman Manggis kepada sebuah syarikat, KLIDC. Tuan rumah tersebut telah menyatakan bahawa beliau menjual rumah itu kepada saya atas kerelaannya sendiri. BN tidak menghiraukan bahawa penjualan tanah kepada KLIDC dilakukan secara tender terbuka, dan tuan rumah saya bukanlah pengarah atau pemegang saham KLIDC. KLIDC juga bukanlah anak syarikat kepada mana-mana syarikat tuan rumah saya.<\/p>\n
Atas sebab ini, kerajaan negeri dan saya sendiri tidak ada apa-apa untuk disembunyikan dan mengalu-alukan siasatan Suruhanjaya Pencegahan Rasuah Malaysia (SPRM). Kami akan memberikan kerjasama penuh kepada siasatan yang dijalankan oleh SPRM, yang telah melawat pejabat saya semalam.<\/p>\n
Namun walaupun kerajaan negeri Pakatan Pulau Pinang melaksanakan ketelusan dan akauntabiti di tahap yang paling tinggi, BN akan boleh mengubah hitam menjadi putih dan putih menjadi hitam. Adakah pemimpin BN akan melakukan seperti yang telah saya lakukan, dengan menjemput media ke rumah, melakukan pengisytiharan harta dan menampilkan siapakah penderma RM2.6 bilion?<\/p>\n
