DAP expresses deepest condolences to the family of Bernard Then, the Malaysian hostage from Sandakan who was kidnapped 6 months ago by Abu Sayyaf terrorist militants and reportedly killed in Philippines. His shocking murder is a reminder of not only a national security failure in Sabah, where terrorists can enter,rob, kidnap and murder at will into Sabah, but also a failure to ensure his safe return.<\/p>\n
It is a shame that Sabahans, especially in Sandakan, no longer feel safe in their own country.<\/p>\n
No words can console Bernard Then’s family of their irreplaceable loss. DAP hopes that Bernard Then’s tragic sacrifice will not be in vain by ensuring that there will be no more kidnaps and murders of innocent Malaysians by the Abu Sayyaf militants. <\/p>\n
