The mask of impartiality and fairplay has dropped again following the failure to arrest former UMNO Deputy Minister Dr Mashitah Ibrahim under the Sedition Act, proving that both BN and the Inspector-General Of Police(IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar practices selective investigation in investigating UMNO leaders and those opposed to UMNO.I had asked the IGP to give full public accountability why the police failed to arrest Dr Mashitah Ibrahim for her inflammatory lies during the UMNO General Assembly that the Chinese community in Kedah had burned the Quran in a prayer ritual.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n If the IGP is sincere and serious in his commitment towards maintaining multi-racial harmony, then he should deal with all sedition cases equally. If he can arrest human rights activist Eric Paulsen, why then not arrest Dr Mashitah? The IGP\u2019s explanation is that Mashitah\u2019s case is different as she was investigated under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code and it is a non-arrestable case and as such she cannot be arrested.<\/p>\n To avoid being confirmed as practicing double-standards, why is Dr Mashitah being investigated under a lesser offence in Section 505(b) of the Penal Code which attracts a sentence of only 2 years imprisonment, a fine or both; as compared to the more serious offence under the Sedition Act which attracts a sentence of 3 years imprisonment, a RM5000 fine or both. And as the IGP mentioned, a person can be arrested under the Sedition Act but not under section 505(b) of the Penal Code?<\/p>\n Why such double-standards between Eric Paulsen and Dr Mashitah? Has what Dr Mashitah has said less serious than that done by Ereic Paulsen? What is most disturbing is Dr Mashitah Ibrahim\u2019s lies raised in an inflammatory and provocative manner in falsely blaming the Chinese community in Kuala Kedah had burned the Quran, page by page during a prayer ritual, when the Kedah Menteri Besar had denied this in an earlier statement before her UMNO speech. The Kedah Menteri Besar had said that the Quran was not burnt but torn by a Malay Muslim who was mentally unbalanced and sent to hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n The IGP should not put on the same mask to hide the failure of the Minister of Home Affairs Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi to explain why Zahid vouched unsolicited, for the integrity and character of gambling kingpin Paul Phua to try to secure Paul Phua\u2019s release from the FBI. Both BN and the IGP\u2019s masks have fallen, by practicing selective prosecution and investigations when it involves those who support BN and those against BN. Is BN trying to distract attention from the failure of the Federal government to deal effectively with the recent national flood crisis and the numerous scandals such as 1MDB and trillions of ringgit lost from illicit funds and corruption?<\/p>\n LIM GUAN ENG Topeng Kesaksamaan dan Keadilan Terlucut Sekali Lagi Berikutan Kegagalan Menahan Dr Mashitah Ibrahim di bawah Akta Hasutan, Lantas Membuktikan BN dan Ketua Polis Negara Mengamalkan Siasatan Terpilih Dalam Menyiasat Pemimpin UMNO dan Mereka yang Menentang UMNO.<\/strong><\/p>\n Topeng kesaksamaan dan keadilan terlucut sekali lagi berikutan kegagalan menahan bekas Timbalan Menteri Dr Mashitah Ibrahim di bawah Akta Hasutan, lantas membuktikan BN dan Ketua Polis Negara (KPN), Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar mengamalkan siasatan terpilih dalam menyiasat pemimpin UMNO dan mereka yang menentang UMNO. Saya telah meminta KPN untuk memperjelaskan dengan penuh mengapa polis gagal menahan Dr Mashitah Ibrahim atas penipuan jahat beliau ketika Perhimpunan Agung UMNO bahawa komuniti Cina di Kedah membakar Al-Quran dalam satu ritual agama.<\/p>\n Jika Ketua Polis Negara ikhlas dan serius dalam komitmennya ke arah mengekalkan keharmonian pelbagai kaum, maka beliau harus menangani semua kes hasutan dengan saksama. Jika beliau boleh menangkap aktivis hak asasi manusia Eric Paulsen, kenapa tidak menangkap Dr Mashitah? Penjelasan KPN adalah kes Mashitah berbeza kerana beliau disiasat di bawah Seksyen 505 (b) Kanun Keseksaan dan ia adalah kes yang bukan membolehkan tangkapan dan oleh itu Dr Mashitah tidak boleh ditahan.<\/p>\n Bagi membuktikan lagi betapa KPN memilih bulu, mengapa Dr Mashitah disiasat di bawah kesalahan yang lebih ringan dalam Seksyen 505 (b) Kanun Keseksaan yang hanya membawa hukuman 2 tahun penjara, denda atau kedua-duanya; berbanding dengan kesalahan yang lebih serius di bawah Akta Hasutan yang membawa hukuman 3 tahun penjara, denda RM5000 atau kedua-duanya. Dan sebagai dinyatakan Ketua Polis Negara, seseorang itu boleh ditangkap di bawah Akta Hasutan tetapi tidak di bawah seksyen 505 (b) Kanun Keseksaan?<\/p>\n Mengapa wujud dwi-standard antara Eric Paulsen dan Dr Mashitah? Adakah apa yang Dr Mashitah katakan kurang serius daripada yang dilakukan oleh Eric Paulsen? Apa yang paling membimbangkan adalah pembohongan Dr Mashitah Ibrahim dibangkitkan secara jahat dan provokatif dengan secara sembarangan menuduh masyarakat Cina di Kuala Kedah membakar al-Quran, lembaran demi lembaran semasa upacara agama, sedangkan Menteri Besar Kedah sendiri telah menafikan tuduhan ini dalam satu kenyataan yang lebih awal. Menteri Besar Kedah berkata Al-Quran tidak terbakar tetapi dikoyakkan oleh seorang Melayu Islam yang mempunyai masalah mental dan dihantar ke hospital untuk rawatan.<\/p>\n Ketua Polis Negara tidak perlu memakai topeng yang sama untuk menyembunyikan kegagalan Menteri Dalam Negeri Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi untuk menjelaskan mengapa Zahid memberi pengesahan tanpa diminta, akan integriti dan perwatakan raja judi Paul Phua sebagai cubaan membebaskan Paul Phua dari FBI . Kedua-dua topeng BN dan KPN telah terlucut, dengan mengamalkan pendakwaan dan penyiasatan terpilih apabila melibatkan antara mereka yang menyokong BN dan mereka yang menentang BN. Apakah BN cuba mengalihkan perhatian daripada kegagalan kerajaan Persekutuan untuk menangani secara berkesan krisis banjir negara baru-baru ini dan banyak skandal seperti 1MDB dan trilion ringgit
