If The Prime Minister Can Blithely Break His Thrice-Repeated Promise To Repeal The Sedition Act Without Consulting The Cabinet, Can He Be Trusted To Keep His Promises To Fight Corruption, Reduce Debts And Income Inequality As Well As Not Close Down Chinese And Tamil Schools When MCA, MIC, Gerakan, SUPP And PBS Are Political Parasites That Are Stooges And Sycophants Of UMNO?

\nIf Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak can blithely break his thrice-repeated promise to repeal the Sedition Act without consulting the Cabinet, can he be trusted to keep his promises to fight corruption, reduce debts and income inequality as well as not close down Chinese and Tamil schools when MCA, MIC, Gerakan, SUPP and PBS are political parasites that are stooges and sycophants of UMNO? In announcing that the Sedition Act would not be repealed but instead strengthened, Najib said that he arrived at his decision after consulting UMNO leaders, UMNO supporters and NGOs.<\/p>\n

MIC Deputy President Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam had confirmed the non-Malay BN component parties\u2019 status as political parasites that are UMNO\u2019s stooges and sycophants when he admitted that neither MIC nor Cabinet was consulted prior to Najib\u2019s unilateral announcement. Despite this humiliation by Najib, or MCA and Gerakan\u2019s earlier call to abolish the Sedition Act, we can expect both MCA and Gerakan leaders to obediently support and comply with UMNO to impose even harsher restrictions in the Sedition Act.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

If UMNO leaders can pressure the Prime Minister to break his promise, 28 million Malaysians are no longer that na\u00efve to rely on Najib keeping his other promises on preserving vernacular schools, or fighting corruption or reducing debt and income inequality. Now, it is UMNO commitment that is more important and crucial than whatever commitment the Prime Minister may make.<\/p>\n

Where is UMNO\u2019s commitment towards fighting corruption or the extraordinary wealth and unexplained wealth of certain individuals when these issues are never raised in the UMNO General Assembly? How come there is no debate about how a young Malaysian Jho Low can afford to donate US$25 million to the United Nations.<\/p>\n

Similarly there is no focus on the shocking revelations in the Malaysia Human Development Report 2013 of a vast majority of Malaysians facing economic distress. 53% of Malaysian households have no financial assets while one in three Malaysians have no banking or financial account of any kind Rural households have the highest number of those without any financial assets (63%), compared to 45% of urban households. By ethnic group, about 57% of non-Malay Bumiputera and 55% of Malays have no financial assets, with the figure for the Chinese and Indians at 45% and 44% respectively.<\/p>\n

Citing figures from the Household Income Survey (HIS), the same report also noted that nearly 90% and 86% of the rural and urban households, respectively, had no savings, while the majority of households at 88% had zero earnings from their savings. Data from EPF savings as at 2013 showed that 90% of Malaysians nearing retirement age did not have enough funds to sustain a basic lifestyle for more than five years.<\/p>\n

The low EPF savings were due to the fact that the majority of Malaysians earned low wages. The monthly wage distribution from EPF shows that in 2013, one-third, or 2.1 million, active members earn less than RM1,000, whilst slightly more than three-quarters (76.8%) earn less than RM3,000, and about 90% earn less than RM5,000 a month.<\/p>\n

UMNO Ministers Should Not Blame The People But Take Heed Of Pak Lah\u2019s Advice That Retaining The Sedition Act Is Not The Solution To UMNO Retaining Power In The Next General Elections.
\nWhilst Najib has sadly disappointed the remaining few who still trusted him as a leader who practices what he preach, what is equally disappointing is the manner of UMNO\u2019s leaders\u2019 reaction towards Najib swallowing back his promise. Urban Well-Being, Housing And Local Government Minister Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan even blamed Malaysians for Najib\u2019s decision to maintain the Sedition Act because the rakyat betrayed Najib\u2019s trust and goodwill by not giving Najib the confidence to repeal the Sedition Act.<\/p>\n

This is typical UMNO fashion of blaming others for their own wrongdoings and misdeeds, especially bashing up the Chinese community for UMNO losing electoral seats, though it is the Malays that are not supporting UMNO. The latest UMNO lie is blaming DAP for buying over Malay land in Balik Pulau, Penang, and chasing them out to be relocated to Seberang Perai. The ones buying over Malay land and selling to 3rd parties for profit, is not DAP but Penang UMNO leaders. <\/p>\n

Maison Heights Sdn Bhd, which is owned by Bukit Mertajam UMNO Division chief Dato Musa Bin Haji Sheikh Fadzir and Bukit Glugor UMNO Division chief Dato Omar Bin Haji Faudzar, purchased 10 acres of land in Kampung Terang, Balik Pulau from 31 Malay landowners on 31 January 2012 for RM8.6 million. They then it sold three and a half months later, on May 16 2012, at a profit of RM5 million for RM 13.5 million to a 3rd party. Instead of condemning the two Penang UMNO leaders for profiting from the sale of Malay land in Balik Pulau, UMNO blamed me even though I did not earn a single cent.<\/p>\n

Amid Umno’s jubilation over the retention of the Sedition Act 1948, UMNO should take heed of the warning by former party president and prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi that UMNO should not abuse sedition laws to stay in power. Pak Lah is correct to say that only the people\u2019s support, and not the retention of the Sedition Act, can ensure UMNO retain power because \u201cif the people no longer support us, there is no law on God’s earth that can save Umno\u201d.<\/p>\n

Malaysians are smart enough to see through the political opportunism of MCA, MIC, Gerakan and SUPP of blindly obeying UMNO\u2019s diktats just to enjoy the perks of privileges of Ministerial office. That is the reason why these non-Malay component parties lost most of their seats in 13th General elections. Similarly Malaysian voters can see the political opportunism of Najib, breaking his promise and contract made with the voters during last year\u2019s general elections, and shall decide in the 14th General Elections whether to support the retention of the Sedition Act to ensure that UMNO remains in power.<\/p>\n

Timbalan Presiden MIC Datuk Seri Dr. S Subramaniam telah mengesahkan status parti-parti komponen BN bukan-Melayu sebagai parasit politik yang juga juak UMNO apabila beliau mengakui bahawa MIC mahu pun Kabinet tidak dirujuk sebelum Najib membuat pengumuman itu. Walaupun diaibkan oleh Najib dengan pengumuman itu, atau oleh seruan MCA dan Gerakan sebelum itu agar Akta Hasutan dihapuskan, kita boleh menjangka para pemimpin MCA dan Gerakan tetap akan patuh dan menyokong langkah UMNO mengenakan kekangan lebih ketat menerusi Akta Hasutan.<\/p>\n

Jika pemimpin UMNO mampu mendesak Perdana Menteri untuk mencabul janjinya sendiri, 28 juta rakyat Malaysia tidak lagi bersikap naif untuk terus bergantung harap bahawa Najib akan menepati janjinya untuk memelihara sekolah berbahasa ibunda atau memerangi rasuah, mengurangkan hutang dan merapatkan jurang pendapatan. Kini komitmen UMNO yang nampaknya lebih penting dan mustahak daripada apa saja janji yang mungkin dibuat oleh Perdana Menteri.<\/p>\n

Di mana komitmen UMNO untuk membasmi rasuah atau menanggapi sesetengah individu yang kekayaannya melimpah ruah tanpa diketahui sumbernya apabila perkara sebegini tidak pernah dibangkitkan dalam Perhimpunan Agung UMNO? Mengapa tidak pernah dibahaskan bagaimana seorang anak muda Malaysia bernama Jho Low boleh mampu menderma sebanyak US$25 juta kepada Pertubuhan Bangsa-bangsa Bersatu?<\/p>\n

Begitu juga tiada perhatian wajar diberikan apabila Human Development Report 2013 melaporkan sebahagian besar rakyat Malaysia dihimpit masalah ekonomi? 53% isi rumah Malaysia tidak mempunyai aset kewangan, seorang daripada setiap tiga orang rakyat Malaysia tidak mempunyai apa jua jenis akaun perbankan atau kewangan, manakala isi rumah di luar bandar mencatatkan kadar tertinggi kalangan yang tidak mempunyai sebarang aset kewangan (63%), berbanding 45% isi rumah di bandar. Berdasarkan kelompok etnik, sekitar 57% Bumiputera bukan-Melayu dan 55% Melayu tidak mempunyai aset kewangan, manakala golongan Cina dan India yang tidak mempunyai aset kewangan masing-masing pada kadar 45% dan 44%.<\/p>\n

Bersandarkan angka daripada Household Income Survey, laporan yang sama mencatatkan bahawa hampir 90% dan 86% masing-masing isu rumah luar bandar dan bandar tidak mempunyai simpanan, manakala majoriti isi rumah, iaitu pada kadar 88%, tidak mendapat penghasilan daripada simpanan mereka. Data daripada simpanan KWSP pada tahun 2013 menunjukkan 90% rakyat Malaysia yang menghampiri usia persaraan tidak mempunyai dana yang cukup untuk mengekalkan gaya hidup yang asas selama lebih daripada lima tahun.<\/p>\n

Simpanan KWSP yang rendah disebabkan majoriti rakyat Malaysia menerima gaji yang rendah. Caruman daripada gaji untuk KWSP menunjukkan bahawa pada tahun 2013, sepertiga atau 2.1 juta anggota yang aktif menerima pendapatan kurang daripada RM1,000 sebulan, manakala lebih sedikit daripada dua-pertiga (76.8%) mempunyai pendapatan kurang daripada RM3,000 sebulan. Sekitar 90% mempunyai pendapatan kurang daripada RM5,000 sebulan.<\/p>\n

Menteri-menteri UMNO tidak patut menyalahkan rakyat tetapi sepatutnya mendengar nasihat Pak Lah bahawa mengekalkan Akta Hasutan bukan penyelesaian untuk mengekalkan kuasa UMNO dalam pilihanraya akan datang<\/p>\n

Najib mengundang kecewa segelintir orang yang masih percaya dengan kemampuannya sebagai seorang pemimpin yang mengotakan kata-kata. Lebih mengecewakan adalah reaksi para pemimpin UMNO terhadap tindakan Najib memungkiri janji. Menteri Kesejahteraan Bandar dan Perumahan dan Kerajaan Tempatan Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan malah menyalahkan rakyat Malaysia kerana membuatkan Najib mengekalkan Akta Hasutan dengan mengkhianati kepercayaan Najib dengan tidak memberikan beliau keyakinan untuk memansuhkan Akta Hasutan.<\/p>\n

Memang itulah gaya UMNO, menyalahkan pihak lain atas kesalahan mereka sendiri, terutama apabila mereka mengecam dan menuduh masyarakat Cina menyebabkan UMNO hilang kerusi dalam pilihanraya meski pun pada hakikatnya orang Melayu sendiri tidak lagi menyokong UMNO. Terbaru, UMNO berbohong dengan menyalahkan DAP atas pembelian tanah Melayu di Balik Pulau, Pulau Pinang, serta menuduh DAP mengusir mereka ke Seberang Perai. Pihak yang membeli tanah Melayu dan menjual kepada pihak ketiga untuk menangguk untung bukan DAP tetapi pemimpin-pemimpin UMNO Pulau Pinang sendiri.<\/p>\n

Maison Heights Sdn Bhd yang dimiliki oleh Ketua Bahagian UMNO Bukit Mertajam Dato Musa bin Haji Sheikh Fadzir dan Ketua Bahagian UMNO Bukit Gelugor Dato Omar bin Haji Faudzar telah membeli 10 ekar tanah di Kampung Terang, Balik Pulau, daripada 31 pemilik tanah Melayu pada 31 Januari 2012 dengan harga RM8.6 juta. Mereka menjual tanah itu tiga setengah bulan selepas itu, iaitu pada 16 Mei 2012, pada harga RM13.5 juta, menangguk untung sebanyak RM5 juta, kepada pihak ketiga. Para pemimpin UMNO Pulau Pinang tidak mengecam dua pemimpin mereka sendiri kerana menjual tanah Melayu di Balik Pulau, sebaliknya mereka menyalahkan saya walaupun saya tidak mendapat untung walaupun satu sen.<\/p>\n

Sambil UMNO meraikan pengekalan Akta Hasutan 1948, parti itu sepatutnya mendengar amaran yang dilontarkan bekas presiden parti dan perdana menteri Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi bahawa UMNO tidak sepatutnya menyalahgunakan Akta Hasutan untuk mengekalkan kuasa. Benar kata Pak Lah, hanya sokongan rakyat, bukannya pengekalan Akta Hasutan, yang dapat memastikan kuasa UMNO kekas, kerana \u201cjika rakyat tidak lagi menyokong kita, tiada undang-undang atas bumi Tuhan ini yang boleh menyelamatkan UMNO.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rakyat Malaysia cukup cerdik untuk melihat sikap MCA, MIC, Gerakan, dan SUPP yang suka mengambil kesempatan politik dengan hanya mematuhi secara membabi-buta ketetapan UMNO demi mendapatkan kerusi menteri. Kerana itulah parti-parti komponen bukan-Melayu itu hilang sebahagian besar kerusi mereka dalam Pilihanraya Umum ke-13. Begitu juga dengan para pengundi Malaysia yang mampu melihat sikap suka mengambil kesempatan politik yang ditunjukkan Najib apabila beliau memungkiri janji yang ditabur kepada pengundi-pengundi dalam pilihanraya umum lalu. Para pengundi Malaysia akan memutuskan pada Pilihanraya Umum ke-14 nanti sama ada mereka hendak menyokong pengekalan Akta Hasutan bagi memastikan UMNO kekal berkuasa.<\/p>\n
