BN should win with honour in the Teluk Intan by-election and not win dirty through Home Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and MCA Deputy President Wee Ka Siong\u2019s lies about the PR Penang state government to create hatred against DAP Candidate for Teluk Intan Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud. Ahmad Zahid had claimed that Pakatan Rakyat only fights for the rights of criminals, partly because it is funded by criminals in the last general election.<\/p>\n
This is a blatant lie because if true, PR leaders would have been charged under existing criminal laws for being involved with criminals. Zahid Hamidi could not produce any proof except to claim that the late Bukit Gelugor MP Karpal Singh did not visit a policeman from his constituency in Bukit Glugor who had died in the line of duty in Melaka.<\/p>\n

This attack against a dead leader like Karpal is most disrespectful and dishonourable because Karpal is not around to defend himself. Karpal did not visit the policeman, Corporal Zal Azri because he was not in Penang at that time. However it is untrue that PR leaders did not show any concern.<\/p>\n
Regretfully, Zahid did not mention that I had personally handed over a RM 3,000 contribution from the Penang state government to his widow, Atiqah Mohd Rsdi witnessed by Penang Chief Police Officer Datuk Wira Abdul Rahim Hanafi(see Sinar Harian report on 13 November 2013) I am disappointed that Zahid is now politicizing the important issue of national security, public order and safety.<\/p>\n
Further the Penang state government contributed the highest amount amongst all state governments by giving RM30,000 per policemen\/soldier who lost their lives defending the country\u2019s sovereignty against terrorists invading Lahad Datu in Sabah. The Penang state government contributed a total of RM 300,000 to 8 policemen and 2 soldiers who lost their lives in a ceremony witnessed by Zahid Hamidi himself.<\/p>\n
Wee Ka Siong had also attacked Dyana for her double standard stand in opposing the hike of electricity tariff but not daring to comment on the 300% tariff hike on water in DAP-led Penang since 2008. (see The Sun report on 25 May) This is untrue as the Penang state government did not increase water tariffs by 300% since 2008. The Penang government has just proposed and is awaiting approval from the Federal government for an increase in domestic water tariffs of 20%, to prevent water rationing by reducing excessive water usage.<\/p>\n
The Penang state government is willing to be criticized for increasing domestic water tariffs by 20% to prevent water rationing but not the 300% hike lie. Increasing domestic water tariffs by 20% is preferable to imposing water rationing. I am disappointed that Wee Ka Siong can so quickly abandon his promise to stick to the politics of right and truth after winning election as MCA Deputy President.<\/p>\n
