Is MCA so hard-up for government posts that MCA dares not scold UMNO for instigating PAS to implement hudud on Muslims in Kelantan? Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak stated today that he will decide on the right time for MCA to rejoin cabinet following MCA\u2019s special resolution in February 2014 to disavow and repudiate MCA\u2019s own 2013 general election promise not to accept any government posts.<\/p>\n

Clearly the fear of not getting any government posts from Najib has caused MCA President Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai to panic and not scold UMNO Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Jamil Khir Baharom for instigating PAS in Parliament on March 27 to implement hudud on Muslims in Kelantan. Unlike MCA\u2019s reflex submissiveness to UMNO, DAP had publicly criticised PAS for falling into UMNO\u2019s trap to work with UMNO to implement hudud in Kelantan.<\/p>\n

Jamil had said that \u201cthe federal government will be ready to work with any state government that is ready to implement hudud including Kelantan, because Umno Kelantan assemblypersons had supported the passing of Kelantan Syariah Criminal Code Enactment II to implement hudud in 1993\u201d. Jamil even suggested that it is up to the non-government members of Parliament to table a private member’s’ bill for that purpose. <\/p>\n

In the 2013 general elections, UMNO had won more seats and Muslim votes despite Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak declaring on 25.9.2011 that the Government will not enforce hudud law in Malaysia. However, Najib has now flip-flopped on the BN government\u2019s previous position from not enforcing the hudud law to publicly lauding PAS\u2019 proposals to implement hudud law. <\/p>\n

For the last 5 weeks since 27.3.2014, Liow Tiong Lai has failed to criticise Jamil or other UMNO leaders such as Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyidin Yasin and Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for UMNO\u2019s \u201cturnback\u201d. Neither has Liow criticised Jamil for forming a joint central technical committee comprising PAS, Putrajaya and the Kelantan government to look into the implementation of hudud in Kelantan in a joint press conference with Kelantan Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah on 2.5.2014. <\/p>\n

Jamil Khir had said the committee was aimed at ensuring a smooth implementation of the hudud law, while taking into consideration the wellbeing and justice for Muslims. However, no mention is made of the rights of non-Muslims and how implementing hudud will affect them, especially when the secular nature of the Federal Constitution will be contravened and violated. <\/p>\n

One country can not have two different legal systems. Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad even said that Muslims in Malaysia are not ready for hudud and that it would not be fair to have different penalties between Muslims and non-Muslims for the same criminal offence. <\/p>\n

Clearly UMNO has no principles and is now supporting the implementation of hudud to set up a devious political trap for PAS, that pits PAS against DAP with the sole intention of breaking up PR. If UMNO can win elections and Malay votes without campaigning on implementing hudud laws, PAS can do too. PAS had achieved victories over UMNO before by focusing on issues of economic livelihood, public integrity, accountability and morality as well as employment and educational opportunities.<\/p>\n

Why Should MCA, Gerakan, SUPP And These Pro-BN Chinese Organisations Make A Grand Play Of Having Emergency Meetings Demanding For A Dialogue Only With The Kelantan PAS Government But Not With The UMNO Federal Government When It Is UMNO That Is The Instigator Behind The Implementation Of Hudud Laws?<\/p>\n

MCA, Gerakan, SUPP and some pro-BN Chinese organisations are playing a double-faced game of pinning the blame on PAS and PR, especially DAP, when it is UMNO that is the main culprit in instigating PAS to work with UMNO to implement hudud in Kelantan. Why should MCA, Gerakan, SUPP and these pro-BN Chinese organisations make a grand play of having emergency meetings demanding for a dialogue only with the Kelantan PAS government but not with the UMNO Federal government, when it is UMNO that is the instigator behind the implementation of hudud laws?<\/p>\n

MCA, Gerakan, SUPP and these pro-BN Chinese organisations should also hold dialogues with the BN Federal government and demand that UMNO drop their support of hudud laws and stop instigating PAS. Worse, some mainstream media is working in concert with BN and UMNO through lies and innuendos to undermine PR and blame DAP for agreeing to PAS\u2019 implementation of hudud laws in Kelantan.<\/p>\n

Even though these lies by some mainstream media have been repeatedly exposed and rebutted, they continue to give wide coverage of distortion and misinformation. DAP advises the public to refer to online media for a fair, balanced and accurate coverage of this controversy.<\/p>\n

It is a contradiction in terms for PAS to be in PR but yet work with UMNO, ignoring the wishes of its allies in PR that had helped PAS make historic gains in Pahang, Johor, Selangor and Perak in the 2008 and 2013 general elections. If PAS continues to walk together with UMNO to implement hudud in Kelantan, PAS will be seen as gullible at best and a betrayal of their non-Muslims voters at worst, which will make it easier for UMNO to set off the trap to break up PR. PAS must ask themselves seriously, \u201cIs UMNO worthy to be trusted?\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u9a6c\u534e\u3001\u6c11\u653f\u515a\u53ca\u4eba\u8054\u515a\u8fd9\u4e9b\u4eb2\u56fd\u9635\u534e\u88d4\u7ec4\u7ec7\u5e94\u8be5\u4e0e\u56fd\u9635\u8054\u90a6\u653f\u5e9c\u4e3e\u884c\u5bf9\u8bdd\u4f1a\uff0c\u8981\u6c42\u5deb\u7edf\u4e0d\u518d\u652f\u6301\u4f0a\u65af\u5170\u5211\u4e8b\u6cd5\uff0c\u4e0d\u518d\u5506\u4f7f\u4f0a\u65af\u5170\u515a\u3002\u66f4\u7cdf\u7684\u662f\uff0c\u4e00\u4e9b\u4e3b\u6d41\u5a92\u4f53\u4e0e\u56fd\u9635\u3001\u5deb\u7edf\u4e00\u5531\u4e00\u548c\uff0c\u901a\u8fc7\u8c0e\u8a00\u548c\u5f71\u5c04\u7834\u574f\u6c11\u8054\uff0c\u602a\u7f6a\u884c\u52a8\u515a\u540c\u610f\u4f0a\u65af\u5170\u515a\u5728\u5409\u5170\u4e39\u63a8\u884c\u4f0a\u65af\u5170\u5211\u4e8b\u6cd5\u3002<\/p>\n

\u867d\u7136\u8fd9\u4e9b\u8c0e\u8a00\u5df2\u7ecf\u88ab\u63ed\u7a7f\u53ca\u53cd\u9a73\uff0c\u4ed6\u4eec\u8fd8\u662f\u7ee7\u7eed\u5927\u5e45\u5ea6\u62a5\u9053\u88ab\u626d\u66f2\u7684\u4e8b\u5b9e\u3002\u884c\u52a8\u515a\u4fc3\u8bf7\u516c\u4f17\u5bf9\u7167\u7f51\u7edc\u5a92\u4f53\uff0c\u4ee5\u83b7\u5f97\u8fd9\u4e9b\u4e8b\u60c5\u66f4\u516c\u5e73\u3001\u5e73\u8861\u3001\u51c6\u786e\u7684\u62a5\u9053\u3002<\/p>\n
