Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 26.4.2014. <\/p>\n

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak\u2019s should not flip-flop but take heed and not depart from former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad\u2019s position that Muslims in Malaysia are not ready for the implementation of hudud. Mahathir is correct in maintaining his stand that it would not be fair to have different penalties between Muslims and non-Muslims for the same offence.<\/p>\n

This policy was adopted by Mahathir when he was the Prime Minister from 1981-2003 and he had refused to even meet PAS leaders to discuss the issue. However BN under Najib has now publicly lauded proposals made to implement hudud law and was willing to meet PAS to discuss this.<\/p>\n

DAP\u2019s position is based on principle, in consistently opposing the implementation of hudud as contrary to the Federal Constitution. Despite DAP\u2019s clear and consistent policy, MCA President Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai continues to blame DAP for being responsible for PAS wanting to implement hudud without daring to address the change in position, policy and principle of BN government and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak compared to Tun Dr Mahathir.<\/p>\n

Liow should not think that signing anti-hudud law agreements with pro-BN Chinese based organisations and BN control of the mainstream media can cover-up the lies, hypocrisy and double-standards of MCA. The internet is abuzz with questions asking why Liow dare not take Najib to task for this flip-flop and whether MCA accepts the new BN government position on hudud adopted by Najib.<\/p>\n

If MCA does not accept BN government\u2019s new position on the implementation of hudud, then the next question is what is Liow going to do about it? Why did MCA not criticise UMNO State Assemblymen in Kelantan as well as Minister for International Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamad for supporting the implementation of the hudud law as done by DAP on both PAS and UMNO?<\/p>\n

Unlike BN, Pakatan Rakyat\u2019s common policy platform and 2008 as well as 2013 general election manifesto does not include the implementation of the hudud or the establishment of the Islamic state. This has been agreed to by all the component parties of PAS, PKR and DAP in Pakatan Rakyat. Under PR, there must be consensus by all 3 parties before it becomes PR policy. PR\u2019s position has not changed because DAP\u2019s position in opposing the implementation of the hudud has not changed. PAS has conceded that implementing the hudud law is PAS policy and not PR policy.<\/p>\n

MCA must remember that when Najib changed the BN government position on the implementation of hudud, this change was warmly welcomed by the PAS Kelantan Menteri Besar. Whether Liow was consulted before Najib changed the BN government position is secondary to whether Liow is willing to stick his neck out and demand that Najib revert back to the previous Mahathir position that Muslims in Malaysia are not ready for the implementation of hudud.<\/p>\n

\u7eb3\u5409\u6566\u62c9\u8428\u4e0d\u5e94\u8be5\u51fa\u5c14\u53cd\u5c14\uff0c\u4ed6\u5e94\u8be5\u7ef4\u6301\u56fd\u9635\u4e4b\u524d\u5728\u6566\u9a6c\u54c8\u8fea\u9886\u5bfc\u4e0b\u7684\u7acb\u573a\uff0c\u9a6c\u6765\u897f\u4e9a\u7a46\u65af\u6797\u8fd8\u6ca1\u6709\u51c6\u5907\u5728\u6211\u56fd\u63a8\u884c\u4f0a\u65af\u5170\u5211\u4e8b\u6cd5\u3002\u9a6c\u54c8\u8fea\u7ef4\u6301\u4ed6\u7684\u7acb\u573a\u662f\u5bf9\u7684\uff0c\u4ed6\u8bf4\u5728\u540c\u6837\u7684\u7f6a\u884c\u8fc7\u9519\uff0c\u4ee5\u4e0d\u540c\u7684\u65b9\u5f0f\u60e9\u7f5a\u7a46\u65af\u6797\u53ca\u975e\u7a46\u65af\u6797\u662f\u4e0d\u516c\u5e73\u7684\u3002<\/p>\n
