ENOUGH WATER FOR PENANG STATE HIGH DEMAND DURING THIS DRY SEASON. NO NEED FOR WATER RATIONING NOW.<\/p>\n
From the information provided by the management of Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP), the Penang State Government informs Penang consumers that PBAPP is ready to face the dry weather. Every year we ensure that the water levels in the dams are at the maximum level at beginning of January. In fact, the dry spell is not an unusual phenomenon as it is an annual occurrence and expects the dry weather to last until April when the inter-monsoon season starts.<\/p>\n
The water level at the Air Itam Dam is at 71% capacity and sufficient for 70 days of supply, Mengkuang Dam is at 50.5% capacity and sufficient for 84 days of supply while Teluk Bahang Dam is at 91% capacity which is sufficient for 277 days of supply. There is no need for water rationing now.<\/p>\n
Of the three (3) dams, only Air Itam Dam is dropping fast and PBAPP is doing all it can to maintain the reserve capacity to last for another 90 days by bringing in more water from Seberang Perai. However, it cautions the consumers to not waste water for washing cars and gardening or hosing of the house gardens. If no rain falls in the catchment area within 30 days, Air Itam Dam level will reach 40% capacity which will only last for another 43 days. At this critical stage, PBAPP will impose water rationing in the Penang Island to cater for the daily basic needs of the consumers.<\/p>\n
Penang consumers are advised to be careful and not to waste water. To avoid water wastage, the PBAPP has imposed a Water Conservation Surcharge (WCS) to penalize consumers who waste water. Unfortunately, Penang records the highest water consumption in the country for 2013 at 299 liters per person per day as compared to the national average of 215.<\/p>\n

\u5728\u8fd9\u4e09\u4e2a\u6c34\u575d\u5f53\u4e2d\uff0c\u53ea\u6709\u4e9a\u4f9d\u6de1\u6c34\u575d\u7684\u6c34\u4f4d\u9762\u5bf9\u6025\u901f\u4e0b\u964d\u7684\u95ee\u9898\u3002\u76ee\u524d\uff0c\u69df\u5dde\u4f9b\u6c34\u673a\u6784\u6b63\u7aed\u5c3d\u5168\u529b\uff0c\u4ece\u5a01\u7701\u5f15\u8fdb\u6c34\u6e90\uff0c\u4ee5\u4fdd\u6301\u672a\u676590\u5929\u7684\u50a8\u6c34\u80fd\u529b\u3002\u7136\u800c\uff0c\u6211\u4eec\u8c28\u6b64\u544a\u8beb\u6d88\u8d39\u8005\uff0c\u83ab\u628a\u6c34\u6e90\u6d6a\u8d39\u5728\u6d17\u8f66\u6216\u4ee5\u6c34\u7ba1\u5728\u5ead\u9662\u6d47\u82b1\u3002\u82e5\u572830\u5929\u5185\uff0c\u805a\u6c34\u533a\u5c1a\u6ca1\u6709\u4e0b\u96e8\u7684\u8bdd\uff0c\u4e9a\u4f9d\u6de1\u6c34\u575d\u7684\u6c34\u4f4d\u5c06\u4f1a\u8fbe\u5230\u4ec5\u6709 40%\u5bb9\u91cf\uff0c\u4e5f\u5373\u662f\u53ea\u80fd\u591f\u652f\u6491\u63a5\u4e0b\u676543 \u5929\u7684\u7528\u6c34\u91cf\u3002\u5230\u4e86\u8fd9\u5173\u952e\u65f6\u523b\uff0c\u69df\u5dde\u4f9b\u6c34\u673a\u6784\u5c06\u4f1a\u5728\u69df\u5c9b\u5b9e\u65bd\u5236\u6c34\uff0c\u4ee5\u5e94\u4ed8\u6d88\u8d39\u8005\u7684\u65e5\u5e38\u57fa\u672c\u9700\u6c42\u3002<\/p>\n
