DAP is consistent in opposing any establishment of a theocratic state, including opposing a Christian state.<\/p>\n<p>Anwar is correct that there was no truth in such lies against the DAP and me because both DAP and myself has been unwavering in our support for the position in the Federal Constitution of Islam as the religion of the Federation. These lies were made by UMNO groups and Utusan Malaysia against the DAP merely on the flimsy ground that DAP leaders had attended a closed-door meeting with Christian pastors.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->What is wrong with attending a closed door meeting with Christian pastors when DAP leaders had also attended such meetings with leaders from other religious groups including Muslims? These UMNO groups even lodged several police reports against the DAP and the Christian pastors.<\/p>\n<p>A police investigation into such a meeting with Christian pastors involving Jelutong MP Jeff Ooi in Penang proved that their allegations that DAP wanted to form a Christian state was a lie. More so, when Jeff Ooi is not a Christian but a Buddhist. Even though police closed the case, no action was taken against these irresponsible groups who spread such lies.<\/p>\n<p>Why was there no police action taken against UMNO groups and Utusan Malaysia for spreading dangerous lies and propagating religious hatred that DAP wanted to set up a Christian state in Penang or Malaysia?<\/p>\n<p>LIM GUAN ENG<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;BM Version &#8212;-<br \/>\nKenyataan Akhbar oleh Ketua Menteri Pulau Pinang Lim Guan Eng di Komtar, George Town Pada 7.10.2013.               <\/p>\n<p>Mengapa Tiada Tindakan Polis Terhadap Kumpulan UMNO dan Utusan Malaysia yang Menyebarkan Pembohongan Merbahaya dan Menyemai Kebencian Agama Bahawa DAP Berhasrat Menubuhkan Negara Kristian di Pulau Pinang dan Malaysia? <\/p>\n<p>DAP menyokong kecaman Ketua Pembangkang Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim terhadap mereka yang menyebarkan pembohongan berbahaya bahawa DAP berhasrat menyebarkan agama Kristian dan menubuhkan sebuah negara Kristian di Pulau Pinang. DAP adalah konsisten dalam menentang mana-mana penubuhan negara teokratik, termasuk negara Kristian.<\/p>\n<p>Kenyataan Anwar adalah tepat bahawa tidak ada kebenaran dalam pembohongan terhadap DAP itu. DAP dan saya sendiri telah menyatakan sokongan tidak berbelah-bahagi kami terhadap kedudukan Islam dalam Perlembagaan Persekutuan sebagai agama Persekutuan. Pembohongan dibuat oleh kumpulan UMNO dan Utusan Malaysia terhadap DAP semata-mata atas alasan rapuh bahawa pemimpin-pemimpin DAP telah menghadiri satu mesyuarat tertutup dengan pastor Kristian.<\/p>\n<p>Apa salahnya menghadiri mesyuarat tertutup dengan pastor Kristian apabila pemimpin-pemimpin DAP juga telah menghadiri mesyuarat dengan para pemimpin dari kumpulan agama lain termasuk Islam? Kumpulan UMNO ini juga membuat laporan polis terhadap DAP dan pastor Kristian. <\/p>\n<p>Siasatan polis terhadap kandungan mesyuarat dengan pastor Kristian yang melibatkan Ahli Parlimen Jelutong Jeff Ooi di Pulau Pinang membuktikan bahawa dakwaan mereka bahawa DAP mahu membentuk sebuah negara Kristian adalah satu pembohongan. Lebih-lebih lagi, apabila Jeff Ooi bukan Kristian tetapi Buddha.
