The refusal by the Attorney-General\u2019s Chambers(AGC) to prosecute Perkasa President Ibrahim Ali and UMNO parliamentary candidate for Shah Alam Zulkifli Noordin has the effect of allowing racist and extremist ministers like Abdul Rahman Dahlan to \u201ccome out from the closet\u201d and openly condone Ibrahim Ali\u2019s right to burn the Bible or Zulkifli\u2019s anti-Hindu insults. With the UMNO party elections at the end of the year, Malaysians can expect more UMNO leaders like Abdul Rahman to \u201ccome out of the closet\u201d to reveal their political orientation as racist and extremists.<\/p>\n
DAP supports action taken against the young Alvivi couple but demands similar action against Ibrahim Ali and Zulkifli Noordin. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar had said that the police had submitted its probe on Perkasa vice-president Zulkifli Nordin’s alleged insult of Hinduism to the AGC but was ordered by AGC to cease investigation due to lack of evidence. As for Ibrahim Ali\u2019s threat to burn the Bible, the police has yet to receive any word from the AGC.<\/p>\n
This is a clear case of double standards by the AGC which has led Malaysians to question why the young \u201cAlvivi\u201d couple can be punished for their Facebook posting but not the BN candidate for Shah Alam Zulkifli Noordin anti-Hindu statements in the You Tube, when both uses the Internet as a medium? Why can action be taken against the \u201cAlvivi\u201d couple within a week after a police report was lodged but yet no action taken against Ibrahim Ali even though there were countless police reports lodged 6 months ago?<\/p>\n
There is no doubt that BN practices selective prosecution by only punishing anti-Muslim statements but not anti non-Muslim statements. These revelations by the Inspector-General of Police of \u201cNo Further Action\u201d has emboldened more UMNO Ministers to come out of the closet to openly support the racist and extremist policies of Ibrahim Ali and Perkasa.<\/p>\n
Muslims And Non-Muslims Should Not Be Allowed To Burn Any Holy Books Of Another Religion Whether There Are Misprints Or Not As It Is Best Left To The Respective Religions.<\/p>\n
Urban Wellbeing, Housing And Local Government Minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan two days ago had defended Ibrahim Ali by saying that Ibrahim and Alvivi\u2019s case cannot be compared as Alivi was aimed at attacking another religion and could threaten interfaith harmony. Abdul Rahman stressed that what Ibrahim said was normal as Ibrahim only wanted to correct the error of printing the said bibles, and burning them was the proper thing to do just as Muslims burn copies of the Quran that have misprints.<\/p>\n
Can a Muslim burn a Bible in anger and protest? Muslims and Non-Muslims should not be allowed to burn any holy books of another religion whether there are misprints or not as it is best left to the respective religions.<\/p>\n
Such shocking racist and extremist remarks that burning the Bible was \u201cnormal\u201d and \u201cthe proper thing to do\u201d by Abdul Rahman will have 3 immediate implications. One, Abdul Rahman has let Cabinet down by challenging his non-Muslim Cabinet colleagues to either resign or accept Abdul Rahman\u2019s open disrespect of their faiths by continuing to work with him.<\/p>\n
Two, letting Malaysia down by showing that he wants to be a Minister only for Muslims and that he is not afraid of offending non-Muslims. Thirdly, letting down his non-Muslim supporters in Kota Belud who voted for him in the last general elections and hiding so well his disrespect for non-Muslims.<\/p>\n
No Muslim PR leader had said that they supported Ibrahim\u2019s call to burn the Bible. Now that an UMNO Minister has publicly condoned Ibrahim\u2019s actions, what is the position of the non-Muslim Ministers vis-a-vis Abdul Rahman?<\/p>\n
