Barisan Nasional and its UMNO cohorts seem hell-bent on insulting all Malaysians by continually making racist and disrespectful statements.<\/p>\n
Today, all DAP assemblymen have been suspended from the Malacca State Assembly for standing their ground in demanding Malacca Chief Minister Ali Rustam retract his allegations that gambling is part of Chinese culture. The suspension of Khoo Poay Tiong (Ayer Keroh), Betty Chew (Kota Laksamana), Lim Jack Wong (Bachang) and Tey Kok Kiew (Bandar Hilir) follows the suspension of Goh Leong San (Kesidang) yesterday over the same reason.

\nInstead of repenting over such a controversial and narrow-minded remark, Ali Rustam added that \u201cas we generally know, the Chinese love to gamble and it\u2019s part of their culture\u201d.<\/p>\n
The Barisan Nasional is once again stooping to its racial games, now that they feel threatened when tens of thousands of Malaysians from all walks of life turned up last weekend to protest against their regime.<\/p>\n
In the aftermath of the Bersih 2.0 rally, they first played on Malay sentiments by claiming that the Malay community have become lackeys and were used to fulfil the non-Malays\u2019 agenda. To justify their allegation, they claim that nearly all the participants in the rally were Malays while the non-Malays stayed behind.<\/p>\n
Such a baseless claim is categorically untrue as footage and photos of the rally that are available online and in various foreign media show strong multiracial participation. In fact, one of the key compliments raised by participants in the rally was the fact that all Malaysians, whether Malay, Chinese or Indian, of varying ages and social backgrounds, had the courage and bravery to stand up for their rights in the face of police hostility and the threat of arrest.<\/p>\n
Then they focused their targets on the Indian community by attacking Bersih Chairperson Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan, with both Datuk Ibrahim Ali and Datuk Seri Ali Rustam calling for her citizenship to be revoked, even though such a demand is unconstitutional and seditious.<\/p>\n
Now, Ali Rustam is once again displaying his shallow and racist mindset by insulting the Chinese community. The fact is that gambling was never part of the Chinese culture. However, because he and the rest of his party are unable to explain why they have to issue gambling licenses, they attempt to apportion blame on the Chinese.<\/p>\n
This is another clear example of BN leaders treating Malaysians with disrespect. When they are faced with mounting pressure and hostile public opinion, they once again turn to the only avenue they know \u2013 racial politics.<\/p>\n
First the BN leaders insult the Malays, then the Indians and now the Chinese. Is this what they mean by 1Malaysia? If the BN truly respects the Prime Minister\u2019s call for 1Malaysia, then they should make a public apology to all Malaysians for such derogatory remarks.<\/p>\n
In addition, the Prime Minister must now take swift and firm action on Chief Minister Ali Rustam, who has insulted both the Indian and Chinese communities. Such openly racist remarks should never have come from a Chief Minister.<\/p>\n

Barisan Nasional (BN) dan sekutunya, UMNO seolah- lah berkeras untuk menghina rakyat Malaysia dengan membuat kenyataan yang bersifat perkauman dan biadap secara berterusan.<\/p>\n
Hari ini, semua Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri (ADUN) DAP digantung daripada menghadiri sidang Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Melaka atas pendirian mereka yang menuntut Ketua Menteri Melaka, Ali Rustam menarik balik dakwaan beliau bahawa judi adalah sebahagian daripada budaya kaum Cina. Penggantungan Khoo Poay Tiong (Ayer Keroh), Betty Chew (Kota Laksamana), Lim Jack Wong (Bachang) dan Tey Kok Kiew (Bandar Hilir) semalam juga adalah atas alasan yang sama.<\/p>\n
Bukan setakat bertaubat atas kontroversi dan fikiran sempit tersebut, Ali Rustam menambah bahawa \u201c Seperti yang umum ketahui, kaum Cina suka berjudi dan ini adalah sebahagian daripada budaya mereka \u201d.<\/p>\n
Barisan Nasional sekali lagi tunduk untuk membangkitkan isu perkauman, dan sekarang mereka berasa terancam apabila berpuluh-puluh ribu rakyat Malaysia yang terdiri daripada semua lapisan masyarakat pada minggu lalu berkumpul untuk membantah regim ini. <\/p>\n
Kesan daripada perhimpunan Bersih 2.0 itu, mereka mula bermain sentimen Melayu dengan mendakwa bahawa masyarakat Melayu telah menjadi hamba dan digunakan untuk memenuhi agenda bukan Melayu. Untuk membuktikan dakwaan tersebut, mereka mendakwa bahawa hampir semua peserta dalam perhimpunan tersebut terdiri daripada orang Melayu manakala orang bukan Melayu berdiri di belakang.<\/p>\n
Semua dakwaan yang tidak berasas dikategorikan sebagai tidak benar kerana rakaman dan gambar- gambar perhimpunan boleh diperoleh secara online dan media asing juga turut memaparkan penyertaan berbilang kaum secara teguh. Malah, salah satu pujian yang utama dibangkitkan oleh peserta dalam perhimpunan tersebut adalah semua rakyat Malaysia, sama ada Melayu, Cina atau India, berbeza umur dan latar belakang sosial, mempunyai ketabahan dan keberanian untuk mempertahankan hak-hak mereka ketika berdepan dengan polis dan ancaman ditahan.<\/p>\n
Kemudian, mereka mengalihkan sasaran ke atas masyarakat India dengan menyerang Pengerusi Bersih, Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan apabila kedua-dua, Datuk Ibrahim Ali dan Datuk Seri Ali Rustam meminta agar kerakyatan Ambiga dibatalkan, walaupun permintaan sedemiikan adalah tidak berpelembagaan dan berunsur hasutan.<\/p>\n
Kini, Ali Rustam sekali lagi memaparkan kecetekan dan minda perkauman dengan menghina masyarakat Cina. Hakikatnya perjudian tidak pernah menjadi sebahagian daripada budaya masyarakat Cina. Walau bagaimanapun, disebabkan beliau dan pihak lain tidak dapat menjelaskan mengapa mereka mengeluarkan lesen perjudian, maka mereka cuba untuk menuding kesalahan kepada masyarakat Cina.<\/p>\n
Ini adalah satu lagi contoh yang jelas pemimpin-pemimpin BN tidak menghormati rakyat Malaysia. Apabila mereka berhadapan dengan tekanan dan percanggahan pendapat umum, mereka sekali lagi menggunakan satu-satunya saluran yang mereka tahu iaitu \u2013 politik perkauman.<\/p>\n
Pertamanya, pemimpin-pemimpin BN menghina masyarakat Melayu, kemudiannya masyarakat India dan sekarang masyarakat Cina. Adakah ini yang dimaksudkan dengan 1Malaysia? Sekiranya BN betul-betul menghormati seruan 1Malaysia oleh Perdana Menteri, maka mereka perlu memohon maaf secara terbuka kepada semua rakyat Malaysia atas penghinaan yang dilakukan. <\/p>\n
Di samping itu, Perdana Menteri kini perlu mengambil tindakan pantas dan tegas ke atas Ketua Menteri, Ali Rustam yang telah menghina kedua-dua masyarakat India dan Cina kerana sebarang kenyataan terbuka yang berbau perkauman tidak sepatutnya keluar daripada seorang Ketua Menteri.<\/p>\n
