MCA’s Failure To Ensure Overseas Scholarships Are Given To The 86 Top SPM Students Proves That Chua Soi Lek Has Failed His Own Test On Whether MCA Should Be In Or Out Of Cabinet and Government – There Is No Difference! <\/strong><\/p>\n

DAP will not bow to threats from MCA, which is adopting Perkasa’s methods of using race, to cover up their failure to fulfil their promises to obtain overseas scholarships for the 86 top SPM students. Deputy Education Minister Datuk Wee Ka Siong had described this year’s awards as “the most nonsensical ever” where top SPM students were given scholarships for diploma courses whilst those with lower grades got overseas scholarships. <\/p>\n

In response, MCA President Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek had insisted that all top SPM students should get overseas scholarships. However this was rejected by Cabinet which awarded them local scholarships and refused to release merit list of successful overseas scholars and their results. <\/p>\n

Instead of explaining their failure or attacking BN’s unfair treatment for our top students, MCA has chosen to attack the DAP when it is PSD and not DAP that denied the top SPM students overseas scholarships. Clearly MCA is inarticulate, indifferent, indecisive and ineffective when it comes to righting wrongs and correcting injustices committed on top SPM students by BN, but ever ready to blame the DAP. <\/p>\n

DAP has never turned this issue into a racial issue as claimed by Chua but considered this as a failure by the BN government to appreciate Malaysian talents regardless of race and religion. How can Chua look at this problem as a racial when of the 86 students who appealed, three were Malay Bumiputeras, one Sarawak Bumiputera, 71 Chinese and 11 Indians. <\/p>\n

Is Chua saying that Datuk Wee Ka Siong is wrong for saying that the award this year is the most nonsensical ever? Wee had brought up this issue on a yearly basis, but still there is no permanent solution. Or must we wait until there is no MCA for there to be a final and permanent solution that would do justice to top students. MCA’s failure to ensure overseas scholarships are given to the 86 top SPM students proves that Chua has failed his own test on whether MCA should be in our out of Cabinet and government – there is no difference! <\/p>\n

MCA may be afraid to speak up on this issue in and outside Parliament. However DAP MPs will not be cowed by MCA’s threats but will pursue this matter at the coming Parliamentary meeting on 13 June 2011. <\/p>\n

Kegagalan MCA Untuk Memastikan 86 Pelajar Cemerlang SPM Mendapat Biasiswa Pengajian Luar Negara Membuktikan Chua Soi Lek Gagal Untuk Memastikan Sama Ada MCA Sepatutnya Berada Di Dalam atau Di Luar Kabinet dan Pentadbiran Kerajaan \u2013 Tidak Ada Bezanya! <\/strong> <\/p>\n

DAP tidak akan tunduk terhadap ancaman MCA yang mengguna pakai kaedah Perkasa dengan penggunaan sentimen perkauman, untuk menutup kegagalan mereka mengotakan janji untuk mendapatkan biasiswa pengajian luar negara kepada 86 pelajar cemerlang SPM. Timbalan Menteri Pendidikan, Datuk Wee Ka Siong menyatakan bahawa anugerah tahun ini sebagai \u2018paling karut\u2019 di mana pelajar cemerlang SPM hanya diberikan biasiswa untuk mengikuti pengajian diploma walhal mereka yang mendapat gred yang lebih rendah mendapat tajaan biasiswa pengajian luar negara. <\/p>\n

Sebagai reaksi, Presiden MCA, Datuk Seri Dr. Chua Soi Lek telah berkeras bahawa kesemua pelajar cemerlang SPM perlu mendapat tajaan biasiswa pengajian luar negara. Walau bagaimanapun, hal ini telah ditolak oleh Kabinet, di mana pelajar-pelajar ini diberikan tajaan biasiswa pengajian di universiti tempatan dan menolak untuk menyenaraikan mereka yang layak menerima biasiswa pengajian luar negara berserta keputusannya. <\/p>\n

Seharusnya mereka menjelaskan kegagalan dan ketidakadilan layanan BN terhadap pelajar-pelajar cemerlang ini, sebaliknya MCA telah memilih untuk menyerang DAP sedangkan Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (JPA) yang telah menafikan pemberian biasiswa pengajian luar negara kepada pelajar-pelajar cemerlang SPM berkenaan dan bukannya DAP. Jelas bahawa MCA tidak petah dalam berkata-kata, bersikap acuh tak acuh, tidak tegas dan tidak berkesan dalam membetulkan kesalahan dan ketidakadilan yang dilakukan oleh BN terhadap pelajar cemerlang SPM, tetapi selalu siap siaga untuk menyalahkan DAP. <\/p>\n

DAP tidak pernah memutar belitkan isu ini menjadi isu perkauman sebagaimana yang diperkatakan oleh Chua sebaliknya menganggap ini adalah kegagalan Kerajaan BN untuk menghargai bakat rakyat Malaysia tanpa mengira bangsa dan agama. Bagaimana Chua melihat masalah ini sebagai perkauman apabila daripada 86 pelajar cemerlang tersebut, tiga adalah Bumiputera, seorang Bumiputera Sarawak, 71 orang Cina dan 11 orang India. <\/p>\n

Adakah Chua menyatakan bahawa Datuk Wee Ka Siong salah apabila beliau menyatakan bahawa anugerah tahun ini adalah yang \u2018paling karut\u2019? Wee telah membangkitkan isu ini setiap tahun tetapi masih tiada jalan penyelesaian yang wajar. Atau haruskah kita menunggu sehingga tiada lagi MCA untuk mendapatkan penyelesaian yang adil kepada pelajar-pelajar cemerlang. Kegagalan MCA untuk memastikan 86 pelajar cemerlang SPM mendapat biasiswa pengajian luar negara membuktikan bahawa Chua Soi Lek telah gagal untuk memberi jaminan sama ada MCA sepatutnya berada di dalam atau di luar Kabinet dan pentadbiran Kerajaan \u2013 tidak ada bezanya! <\/p>\n

MCA mungkin takut untuk bersuara mengenai isu ini sama ada di dalam Parlimen mahupun di luar. Walau bagaimanapun, Ahli-ahli Parlimen DAP tidak akan gentar dengan kecaman MCA, sebaliknya akan memastikan hal ini dibawa ke persidangan Parlimen pada 13 Jun 2011. <\/p>\n
