As UMNO Controls The Largest Number Of Mps(88) In Parliament, Only UMNO Has The Power To Determine Success Or Failure In PAS’ Attempt To Implement Hudud In Kelantan.(en/cn)

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Penang On 10.5.2014.

Penang BN chief Teng Chang Yeow should be congratulated for adopting MCA’s dirty tactics of using the mainstream media to either black out or downplay DAP’s replies on their lies over the proposed implementation of hudud law by PAS and UMNO. I will respond to Teng’s latest false attacks against the DAP for telling “three bluffs” on PAS’ intention to implement the hudud law.

I answer Teng’s 3 lies with the expectation that Teng would explain why UMNO President Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak can decide on BN Malaysia’s stand to support PAS implementing hudud on Muslims in Kelantan in Najib’s position as BN Chairman but Teng can not decide on BN Penang position as BN Penang Chairman. In contrast, I can state as Penang Chief Minister, that the PR Penang state government and Penang PR will not implement hudud in Penang as it was never part of PR national or state 2013 general election manifesto.

If the mainstream media obediently fail to publish this in full, Teng need not answer why as Penang BN Chair, he does not possess the same powers over Penang BN as Najib has over BN Malaysia in deciding BN Malaysia’s stand. Is this a classic example of MCA and Gerakan “being in government but do not rule” or is Teng just simply being quietly obedient to UMNO?

Wee Ka Siong Should Not Twist And Turn, But Must Bravely State Whether The Review Of MCA’s Position In BN, If UMNO Votes In Favour Of The Hudud Bill On Muslims In Kelantan, Means A Withdrawal Of BN.(en/cn)

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Penang On 8.5.2014.

MCA deputy president Wee Ka Siong had said that if Umno votes in favour of the hudud Bill expected to be tabled by Kelantan, MCA and other component parties in BN, made up of non-Muslims, might review their position in the BN coalition. However, Wee also told Chinese Malaysiakini later that a review of MCA’s position did not mean that MCA would withdraw from BN.

Wee’s verbal acrobatics is confusing as if review is not withdrawal what does Wee exactly means by review? MCA should say what it means and means what it says. Unless MCA makes a clear and definite clarification that review of MCA’s position in BN is withdrawal from BN, this is another meaningless political sandiwara. Why should MCA go back into Cabinet now when Wee is talking about review when UMNO has flip-flopped its position from opposing the implementation of hudud to fully supporting PAS implementing hudud in Kelantan?

The Penang Chief Minister Must Lead The People From The Front And Not From Behind UMNO:- I Will Contest Only One State Seat If Teng Chang Yeow Does Not Run Away But Recontest Padang Kota, Which He Previously Held For 3 Terms From 1995-2008.(en/bm/cn)

Opening Speech By Penang Chief Minister And DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng At The Official Launch Of The DAP Air Putih KADUN General Elections Operation Center In Air Putih, Penang On 31.3.3013.

BN Penang Chairman Teng Chang Yeow’s determination to run away from his own seat of Padang Kota is as clear as day following his refusal to follow up on his own challenge to face-off with me in the coming general elections. By setting new ridiculous conditions before contesting against me, Teng is clearly eating back his words of “you must pick up from where you fall” and avoid a direct contest in Padang Kota.

Such promise of “you must pick up where you fall” is meaningless if Teng refuses to show courage and ‘leadership by example’ by recontesting in his old seat of Padang Kota but instead follow UMNO’s dictates of where he can or can not go. Everyone knows that Teng as Penang BN Chairman is not Gerakan’s first choice as he is neither Gerakan President nor Penang Gerakan Chairman, but UMNO’s and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s choice.

DAP Insists That Monitors Of Political Parties And Election Commission(EC) Must Be Present At Postal Or Advanced Voting To Ensure That There Is No Cheating(en/bm/cn).

Postal voting for military and police personnel has been redefined as advance voting and will be handled only by Election Commission (EC) officers in the next general election. EC deputy chairman Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar said advance voting would be fully handled by specially designated assistant returning officers (ROs) instead of the personnel’s superior officers in military camps and district police headquarters.

Whilst abolishing postal voting, except for members of the national security forces operating overseas and at the borders, is welcome there is concern that there is no difference in ensuring a free, fair, neutral and independent elections if political parties still do not have full access during the voting process. DAP insists that monitors of political parties and EC must be present during the voting process to ensure that there is no manipulation or cheating.

All Malaysian law enforcement and armed forces personnel sacrifice their lives every day to protect our country and should also enjoy the same rights and privileges as everyone else. Therefore, voting should be made as easy and accessible as possible for them.

Perlu Ada Low-Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) Dan Landasan Kapalterbang Kedua(2nd Runway)

Perlu Ada Low-Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) Dan Landasan Kapalterbang Kedua(2nd Runway) Selaras Dengan Sumbangan Oleh Lapangan Terbang Antarabangsa Bayan Lepas.

Malaysia Hanya Berjaya Menjadi Ekonomi Berpendapatan Tinggi Dengan Mendemokrasikan Ekonomi, Reformasikan Perkhidmatan Awam Dan Membebaskan Daya Kreativiti Dan Innovasi Sumber Manusia.

Ucapan Belanjawan Setiausaha-Agung DAP Dan Ahli Parlimen Kawasan Bagan Lim Guan Eng Di Dewan Rakyat Pada 26.10.2009

Why supplying LNG to Shangai Gas terminal ?

DAP demands a full explanation from Petronas on the Reuters news reports of supplying 3.03 million tones of LNG a year to the Shangai Gas Terminal for 25 years from 2009 when there is not enough gas supplies for domestic demand resulting in loss of tens of billions of ringgit in foreign direct investments to Malaysia. Malaysians have a right to know why Petronas continues to export gas when we have to import 19% of our gas needs from Indonesia.
