UMNO’s Submission To Perkasa And Utusan Malaysia Open Support Shows The Perkasa Mentality Within BN And That 1Malaysia Is An Empty Slogan To Win Votes.

DAP is not surprised at UMNO Secretary-General Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor’s reversal of his previous stand against Perkasa by denying that he had said his Barisan Nasional (BN) colleagues agreed to keep the ruling coalition from Perkasa. After all Tengku Adnan had no choice but to support Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s statement yesterday that Umno did not want to stir conflict with any non-governmental organisation (NGO) such as Perkasa.

This only proves UMNO has all along being behind Perkasa. UMNO’s submission to Perkasa and Utusan Malaysia open support shows the strength of the Perkasa mentality within BN and that 1Malaysia is an empty slogan to win votes. What is surprising however is that this support and the Perkasa mentality is prevalent even amongst all component parties of BN as explained by Tengku Adnan in the Malaysian Insider on Perkasa,

Perutusan Hari Kemerdekaan Ke 53 oleh Setiausaha Agung Parti Tindakan Demokratik (DAP) Lim Guan Eng di Petaling Jaya pada 30 Ogos 2010:

Dengan rasa rendah diri, saya mengucapkan selamat menyambut Hari Merdeka 2010 kepada semua rakyat Malaysia tanpa mengira kaum dan agama.

Tidak ada gunanya jika kita melaungkan Merdeka tetapi kosong tanpa amalan. Tidak ada gunanya bercakap soal perpaduan kaum jika ada anasir-anasir yang meniupkan api perkauman. Tidak ada gunanya mengaku anti-perkauman jika membiarkan musuh-musuh perpaduan menggalakan sikap benci-membenci antara kaum dan agama.

BN’s Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde

The recent self-contradictory remarks by BN leaders remind me of Robert Louis Stevenson’s 19th century classic, “The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde”. Is there a Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde in the BN administration with a split personality of 1Malaysia encompassing all together with a racial UMNO dominance lording over everyone?

Prime Minister Dato Seri Najib Tun Razak had worked assiduously to impose his rule with a clever marketing strategy of 1Malaysia. Even though 1Malaysia is short on details but long on creating a feel-good factor whatever that means, he must be buoyed by favourable poll ratings in the latest surveys.

International Women’s Day Message 2010

Progress for women is progress for all. No enduring solutions to society’s most pressing problems can be found without the full empowerment and participation of women.

For Penang, it is the commitment of the Pakatan Rakyat to give equal and ample opportunities to women, especially in the civil service.

The Penang state government does not only provide lip service on this but has given ample opportunities for women in Penang to hold senior positions and lead in the civil service.

DAP wishes all Hindus a Happy Thaipusam, a celebration of the triumph over evil and overcoming the evil teachings of greed, hatred and arrogance. DAP hopes that Malaysian can also defeat greed by successfully fighting corruption, reduce arrogance with a people-centric government that listens to the people and replace hatred with love compassion and mutual respect.

Never is the necessity for Malaysians to show solidarity for love, peace and compassion greater now when places of religious worship are being attacked by irresponsible elements out to sow hatred, disunity and violence. Churches, a Sikh temple and mosques have been burnt and desecrated.

More attacks on places of worship – hatred and violence versus love and peace

It saddens me that less than one week after the arson attempts on two suraus in Muar, more despicable incidents took place in the Klang Valley today, whereby the heads of wild boars were found at the Masjid Jumhuriyah in Taman Dato Harun and the Al- Imam Tirmizi mosque at Taman Sri Sentosa near Old Klang Road this morning.

This reminded us of the infamous “cow head” incident that took place last year in Shah Alam where irresponsible parties tried to fan religious and racial sentiments by hurling insults against fellow Malaysians who are Hindus. Such actions were condemned by Malaysians of all religious backgrounds and similar condemnation must be directed against the culprits who caused today’s “pig-head” incident in mosques.

Malaysia must double our talent pool of professionals that will help grow knowledge-based industries which are creative, innovative and globally competitive to successfully transform into a high-income economy. The only economic model that works is people-centric and human resources-based. Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore are sterling examples of natural resource scarce countries who have succeeded in transforming themselves into developed nations merely by unleashing the potential of their people.

There is no reason why Malaysia can not succeed when we have both natural and human resources that is superior to either Singapore, Korea or Hong Kong. If Malaysia is to double the per capita income of the people over the next 10 years to USD 15,000 by 2020 and join the ranks of high-income economy, there must be a new economic model that boldly promotes merit, performance, integrity and human dignity.

Ucapan Oleh Setiausaha-Agung DAP Lim Guan Eng Dalam Konvensyen Pakatan Rakyat Pertama Di Auditorium MBSA, Shah Alam, Selangor Pada 19.12.2009.

Hari ini adalah hari ini dalam sejarah. Buat pertama kalinya dalam sejarah politik tanahair, satu gagasan yang kukuh, mantap, penuh berkobar-kobar dengan idealisma, prinsip dan menwakili aspirasi rakyat berbilang kaum, berbilang usia dan kedua-dua jantina ditubuhkan untuk menawar diri sebagai alternatif kepada pemerintahan negara.

Bukan senang kita sampai ke perjalanan ini yang penuh berliku-liku. Sepanjang 52 tahun ini, kita telah dikaburi mata dengan permainan politik pecah dan perintah, tipu dan temberang malah tindas dan tangkap. Rakyat terpaksa tunggu 52 tahun tetapi lebih baik sampai sungguhpun terlewat.

Remarks Made By Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng During His Meeting With Malaysian Professionals In The San Francisco City Bay Area On 12 December 2009.

San Francisco is renowned world-wide as a high-technology (techie) area and the area hosts the Silicon Vallley where many of the most successful, innovative, creative and largest techie companies are located. What continues to surprise me is to continuously see the involvement and active participation of so many bright and young Malaysians in these companies, not only here but also in Austin, another booming techie location in Texas which I had also visited.

There are many reasons for the success of what was once a quiet and undeveloped region in San Francisco Bay area or town in Austin. I would point to the single-minded focus on development of human talent as the critical success factor to their transformation as a booming high-income and high-tech economy.

Ucapan Ketua Menteri Pulau Pinang Lim Guan Eng Di Konvensyen Pakatan Rakyat Di Syuen Hotel, Ipoh:

Perpaduan Rakyat Malaysia Berasaskan Kerajaan Berjiwa Rakyat Dan Kemakmuran Ekonomi Yang Berteraskan Prinsip Keadilan, Kebebasan, Kebenaran, Kebajikan Dan Ketakwaan Kepada Tuhan.

Seringkali disebutkan bahawa perpaduan kaum adalah asas pembangunan negara dan ekonomi, kemakmuran dan kemajuan, demokrasi dan keadilan sosio-ekonomi. Saya lebih suka gunakan istilah perpaduan rakyat Malaysia daripada perpaduan kaum kerana secara halusnya ini memperlihatkan perbezaan kaum lebih pentingnya daripada sifat kemalaysiaan kita.

Itulah sebabnya Kerajaan PR selalu tekankan ketuanan rakyat dan menganggap semua warga sebagai insan bermaruah bukannya warna kulit. Dengarlah komitmen kami – Bahawa kerajaan PR akan memberikan bantuan sama kepada semua rakyat tanpa kira kaum, agama, jantina dan latarbelakang.

Salam Sejahtera, Selamat Berpuasa Dan Selamat Menyambut Hari Malaysia

Saya berasa amat gembira kerana dapat berhimpun pada pagi yang mulia ini bagi meraikan Sambutan Hari Malaysia yang ke 46. Pada kesempatan ini, saya ingin merakamkan penghargaan kepada semua pihak yang terlibat dalam menjayakan Sambutan Hari Malaysia pada pagi ini. Sambutan ini memberi pengertian yang sangat bermakna kepada semua anggota Perkhidmatan Awam dan kita sebagai rakyat Malaysia. Hari Malaysia disambut pada 16 September setiap tahun untuk memperingati penubuhan persekutuan Malaysia di tarikh yang sama pada tahun 1963 dan dijadikan sebagai satu sambutan untuk seluruh negara memandangkan tarikh ini merupakan sejarah penggabungan negeri Sabah dan Sarawak dengan Tanah Melayu.

Saya juga ingin mengambil kesempatan mengalu-alukan kehadiran dua ADUN daripada Sarawak yang sempat dapat bersama kita pagi ini iaitu ADUN Kota Sentosa YB Chong Chien Jen dan ADUN Ngemah YB Gabriel Adit. ADUN Sabah tidak dapat berkesempatan bersama dengan kita dan kirim Salam Menyambut Hari Malaysia.
