Speech By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In The DAP Melaka State Annual Convention In Melaka On 28.10.2012
BN has failed the 6 tests of fighting corruption of making a public declaration of assets, implementing open competitive tenders, bar family members from being involved with government contracts, protect genuine whistleblowers, remove BN leaders with extravagant lifestyles and come clean on political donations?
Malaysians are disappointed that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak consider the RM40 million donation to UMNO Sabah as proper and appropriate and reject outright the allegations of extraordinary wealth of
Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Taib Mahmud. Taib’s former daughter-in-law, Mahmud Shahnaz Abdul Majid, revealed that Taib’s son charged RM782,520.55 to just one of his credit cards for the first six months of this year. Shahnaz is claiming RM400 million in their divorce settlement in the Syariah courts as her husband is reputedly worth RM1 billion with RM 700 million of deposits in 111 bank accounts in local foreign countries.

25th Anniversary Operasi Lallang Statement By DAP Secretary-General And MP For Bagan Lim Guan Eng In Kuala Lumpur On 27.10.2012.
The Federal Government Should Apologise To All Internal Security Act(ISA) Detainees, Immediately Release All Remaining Detainees And Turn Kamunting Detention Camp Into A Museum As A Reminder Of The Importance Of Freedom And Human Rights As Well As Heal The Nation From The Trauma Of Arbitrary Detention Without Trial.
DAP urges the Federal government to apologise to all Internal Security Act(ISA) detainees, immediately release all remaining ISA detainees and turn Kamunting Detention Camp into a museum as a reminder of the importance of freedom and human rights as well as heal the nation from the trauma of arbitrary detention without trial merely for opposing BN.
25 years ago on 27 October 1987, I was amongst the first victims of Operasi Lalang detained under the ISA by former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. I remember as a newly-elected MP for Kota Melaka, how stunned I was to hear that I was a threat to national security who would cause the country to descend into chaos, ruin and riots if I was not arrested. Then followed the dark days of solitary confinement, endless interoggation and intimidation to force me to recant which I managed to endure, survive and prevail.

Press Statement By DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng And MP For Bagan In Kuala Lumpur On 25.10.2012.
One of the basic rules of good and clean governance is the crafting and implementantion of public policies that benefits the people and the nation. Private scandal involving questions about integrity and moral behaviour should neither infringe nor influence public policy to the detriment of the nation’s interests. By allowing private scandal to defeat public policy, BN is running a failed government.
Several exposes have highlighted how the BN government not only condones private scandal but also promotes bad public behaviour. Beginning with the Bank Negara foreign exchange scandal, which the Bank Negara admitted incurred losses of RM 10.1 billion in 1992 and RM5.7 billion in 1993.

Star And Chua Soi Lek Lied And Should Show Proof That Property Prices Have Increased Drastically In One Year From 1st Quarter 2011 To 2012 With The Price Of Condominiums/Apartments By 411%, Flats By 339%, Low-Cost Flats By 157% And Detached Units By 103%.
MCA is the Chinese version of Utusan Malaysia that relies on lies, fear and hate to survive. MCA is behaving like a philanderer who proclaims that he is moral and upright. The latest lies by MCA President Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek includes the outrageous claim that Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat was instigating Muslim men to rape non-Muslim women because they did not dress conservatively to cover themselves up(tunjuk aurat). This outrageous lie is similar to Utusan Malaysia lying that I am anti-Malay and anti-Islam as Nik Aziz had never said that.

Press Statement By Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng In Komtar, George Town On 22.10.2012.
The PR state government will not be deterred by BN’s support for the culture of political frogs but is determined to table a historic constitutional amendment to push through an anti-hopping law in the Penang state assembly meeting on 1 November 2012. The State Legal Advisor has been tasked with the necessary process of gazetting the proposed constitutional amendment.
Any amendment to the Penang state constitution requires a 2/3 majority and PR has the required numbers by holding 29 out of the 40 seats. All 3 parties in Penang PR of PAS, PKR and DAP have also supported the proposed constitutional amendment requiring State Assembly members who jump or change their party affiliation to resign and recontest in a by-election.

Press Statement By Penang Chief Minister and DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng In Penang on 21.10.2012
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi must explain why he has to wait until the 2011 Auditor-General Report exposed shoddy and defective work done of family homes of the military before lodging a complaint with the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB). Clearly the entire internal control mechansim within the Defence Ministry comprising the monitoring, analyzing and auditing of projects has failed.
Should not the Ministry act instead of delegating it to the CIDB, when CIDB have lesser powers than the Defence Ministry to punish the contractor concerned? Zahid should list out the steps taken by the Defence Ministry to ensure that such abuses can be detected, immediate steps taken to rectify the defects and stern action to punish the contractors and officials who failed to monitor properly.

Welcoming speech By Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng at the 4th Penang in Asia Lecture By Professor Jeffrey Sachs At The Traders Hotel In George Town, Penang On 20.10.12.
There Must Be Equal Opportunity, Equal Access, Equal Affordability To Services and Equal Availability to Resources Because Equality Fails If Affluent Bankers Who Fail Gets Bailed Out Whilst Ordinary Folks Lose Their Houses And Jobs Just As Loans To Cronies Of Billions Get Written Off Whilst Ordinary Malaysians Must Pay To The Last Cent,
First of all, I would like to congratulate the Penang Institute for putting together yet another successful Penang in Asia lecture. Today, we are indeed most honoured to host a respected humanitarian and world-renowned economist, UN Special Advisor on the Millennium Development Goals Professor Jeffrey Sachs.
Professor Sachs’s brief sojourn here in Penang is timely. This is because Penang, and indeed Malaysia, is now at a crossroads, with the looming backdrop of the current global financial crisis casting a grim shadow.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak must address 3 principal issues in the 2011 Auditor-General’s Report to show BN’s commitment towards transparency and accountability as well as dispel MCA’s openly mocking the reports of mismanagement has having no impact on people’s support of BN. Even former MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat attacked his successor Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek today for “mocking” the Auditor-General’s Report by Chua claiming that negative reports would not affect Barisan Nasional’s (BN) support in the next general election.
Dr Chua even went to the extent of saying that if the Auditor-General’s Report had any effect, the BN government would fall every year the report was published. The first issue revealed by the Auditor-General’s Report relates to several massive government contracts and projects that were directly negotiated, affecting the level of trust in government.

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha must remember that the AES is not a question of politics but a question of economic integrity that he must explain why there was no open competitive tender but only a closed invited tender in installing 831 1Malaysia cameras throughout Malaysia. I am given to understand only 9 companies were invited for the open competitive tender but only 7 submitted bids.
DAP has no problems if the Federal Government is sincere in its initiative to ensure public safety and that motorists adhere to traffic regulations. However the government has allowed the 2 concessionaires of the AES were collect commission based on the number of summonses issued. Clearly this will benefit the two concessionaires at the expense of 28 millon Malaysians.

Kenyataan Akhbar Ketua Menteri Pulau Pinang Lim Guan Eng Di Komtar, George Town Pada 18.10.2012.

Speech By DAP Secretary-General and MP for Bagan Lim Guan Eng During The DAP Sibu Dinner On 13.10.2012.
Will BN leaders walk the talk of fighting corruption by applying the 6 tests of making a public declaration of assets, implementing open competitive tenders, bar family members from being involved with government contracts, protect genuine whistleblowers, remove BN leaders with extravagant lifestyles and come clean on political donations?
Malaysians are shocked at the written Parliamentary reply by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz that the Attorney-General’s Chambers had not found any element of corruption in the case of the Sabah timber trader Michael Chia, who was detained in Hong Kong for trying to smuggle out RM40 million in Singapore currency allegedly meant for Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman. Nazri said that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigations revealed that the S$16 million(RM40 million) cash constituted political contributions to Sabah UMNO, and not Musa thereby to clearing Musa of charges of corruption and money laundering.

MCA Is So Desperate To Tarnish Penang PR’s Good And Clean Governance On Our Success In Reducing Penang’s Debts By 95% From RM630 Million In March 2008 To RM30 Million At End 2011 In Contrast To The 89% Increase In Federal Government Debt From RM266 Billion at End 2007 To RM502.4 Billion At End 2012.
MCA and its President Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek is so desperate to tarnish Penang PR’s good and clean governance that the Auditor-General Report’s certification that the Penang state government’s debt at end 2011 is even discredited. Chua had disputed Penang PR state government’s success in reducing its state debts by 95% from RM630 million in March 2008 to RM30 million at end 2011.

Malaysian Anti-corruption Commission(MACC) Has No Credibility With Malaysians To Conduct An Independent Investigation Into The Record Breaking Wedding Of Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Sri Mohd Ali Rustam’s Son With 130,000 Guests And Allegations Of The Extraordinary Wealth Of Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Taib Mahmud When No Action Is Taken Against The RM40 Million Cash Given To Sabah UMNO.
Yesterday, the BN government was very proud to announce the exoneration of Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman from the S$16 million(RM40 million) cash scandal as he was cleared by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on charges of corruption and money laundering. Did MACC carry out a full investigation including recording the statement of Datuk Seri Musa?
