Dear YAB Lim,

I agreed fully with you that Malaysian gorvernment should do something wise to protect those who are living or using facilities on top or beneath risky slope, and should look at safety more seriously, rather than allowing disaster to take its course one after another.

I disagreed with "A Penangite who voted for you", I wonder which is the "no-brainer", to allow continue lost of lives and properties and do nothing or to spend wisely on project that beneficial to the people; Or may be to drop into some corrupted politician's pocket? Choose for yourself, Penangite.

But YAB, may be you want to consider local technology and expertise on this matter, as the saying goes "Malaysia Boleh", most of the times people said it for the opposite, but actually there are also things that "Malaysian REALLY Boleh", for example many of the engineers, surveyors, QS, accountants, supervisors and skill workers that work in Singapore that produce many remarkable landmarks and well-finished structures are Malaysian. For your information, we been involving in Structure and Soil movement & deformation monitoring industry for the Last 10 years in Singapore, monitoring movement of structure like MRT Tunnel, High Rise Building, Bridges, Viaduct, Slope and so on, and the brain of this technology is actually from a ordinary Malaysia, I apolize for a bit of self marketing here.

I been trying very hard to introduce this concept and technology in Malaysia but to no avail, it very heartaching and sad to see the follwing happening one after another:
NKVE slope failure - months of HW closure,
Putra Jaya Condo - 23 cars burried
Bukit Tempurung
Highland Tower
Bukit Antara bangsa
Penang Ferry Terminal... and more to come?

I had written to you early Jan concerning the a monitoring solution, responded by your Political Secretary (Mr Ng) concerning this saying is forwarded to 2 Relevant Exco's.

Hope that together, we can do something to raise the safety standard for Construction in Malaysia.

YAB Lim,

I fully support the decision for building up the Geotechnical Engineering Office. Although it incur more cost for the government, but I think this cost is consider small for our "kind" Malaysia government, beside that our universities should offer this kind of course.

At the mean time, I think Penang local government should also look at other cases, such as are the building safe for occupation, small landslide that not cost any life and etc. State government should not wait the Federal government to set-up all sort of department.

If with the efficient control, even we don't have other departments we can also well manage all the buildings. Preventive maintenance, as proverb, prevent is better the cure.

We should not wait next disaster happen then only look for build up a department.

When do the government will publish the report for Bukit Antarabangsa? I really want to know, it happen due to human or act of god.

How our country prevent for Tsunami? Economy crisis? Road Safety? All this will involve in human life...

Dear Guan Eng,

As a person who stayed in Australia, United States and Hong Kong before, I can tell you this ---

What Hong Kong is doing is out of desperation. They have not enough land where they need it, that is why they need to build on the hill slopes.

Please, Guan Eng, as the Chief Minister of Penang, I, as a born and bred Penangite, earnestly urge you to assemble a team of ABLE MINDED PEOPLE to be your think-tanks, for what you have said, in way too many cases, has caused many a chuckles amongst those in the know.

The Hill Slope matter is a no-brainer. Penang does NOT need to follow Hong Kong's footstep. We still have plenty of good land in Seberang.

Thank you for reading, and for your serious consideration.

Your Sincerely,
A Penangite who voted for you !
